The small estate was fenced by a rather tall earthy-toned stone wall. A house with several floors, looking like a small mansion, stood down a path from the steel gate that interrupted the wall fence in just a section large enough for a car to drive in.

The eyes of one Adriel Lock Hart watched the territory wearily. The house took just a small space of it, most of the rest was almost like a small forest or rather large garden, it was hard to tell which one, since snow covered everything. As far as possible, he took note, was what appeared to be a small dojo. He quirk a white eyebrow at this. Adele had been trying to make amends with the long white haired man for quiet a few years, but he didn't expect him to go so far as to accommodate him in his new home. The man shook his head and return to smoking his cigarette as he leaned against the wall.

Adriel was six feet and five inches tall, by most standards, he was above average. He had a lean built, that showed in the open front of his long black coat, the cold didn't seem to bother him much, and if asked, he would say he preferred it. Scars plagued his pale skin, and his white hair cascaded down, the tips tickling the rear of his black jeans. His lips curled into a small smirk, accommodating the cigarette as some dark thought went by his mind. Shaking his head, his eyes turned towards the rode, shinning in steel blue color under the light of the moon. For the age of 27, he didn't look bad.

Eyes settle on a car that approached the property and he pushed himself off, grabbing the smoke and putting it out by pressing it against his forearm. The pain was just a numb itch by now. The gates open mechanically and the car slipped in, his eyes picking out the two shadows behind the tainted glass. The vehicle stopped and out came out a teenager with cool brown hair tied back in a pony tail. Large maroon eyes looked up from behind long locks of bangs. The teenager, who was about 17, made his way quickly to him and hugged him.

"I thought I would had to hunt you down!" Daniel said quietly in mock anger before pulling away. For his age, he was short and rather feminine in some aspects, such as his hands and his almost almond-shaped eyes. The little quirk on his smile didn't help to erase the image. He wore a maroon shirt, black pants and thick black sweater, around his neck the leash of his camera, ready to be put to work. He was light skinned but not as pale as the much taller man. "Adele told me you are almost impossible to find these days."

"I know the land better then he does." Adriel spoke with a velvet voice that was easy on the ears but clouded with subtle tones that confuse the mind. "But I heard you were coming, so I decided to come out of my little forests for the night." The earn him a chuckle from Dan.

Adele, the pure opposite of Adriel, watched with blue eyes. His skin was tanned, marked only by some tattoos, that at the moment lay hidden under his thick sweater. His slacks hang lose, his built, could be guessed, to be toned, but just slightly. His black hair reached just below his shoulders and was loose, carresing the sides of his face. "How long have you been out here, Hartless?"

Adriel ignored the question, which did not go unnoticed by either of the two males. Daniel made a sound, it was always like this ever since the white haired man pulled out of the coma. "How is Faraon?"

"He's fine, just great. He didn't want to come though. I don't blame him." He looked towards Adele from the corner of his eyes and then back at Daniel, beaming him a smile. "How is everything at home..."

Velvet wings littered the air with soft sharp beats as they carried their coat-wrapped passenger swiftly through the air. A faint trail of mist from her hot breath followed, but was soon eaten by the cold leaving no sign of her presence. Most of the world was better off not know what creature had passed through this place. She was as close to silent as could be attained in this season. While the snow was like an insulator, the thin cold air acted as a sound conductor. Contradiction everywhere.

The translucent snow in piles refracted the pure color of white, making the dark clothed girl seem completely out of place. Her short form, only reaching a total height of five foot even, was shivering under all the layers she bore. The icy air stung her face, and even while blood was pumping through her wings at a rapid pace, they too would become frostbitten in time. The weather always made short work of that, much to her chagrin. Finding a place of refuge was the key here, as it would be for any creature in these elements. Traveling for as long as she had, really took a toll on oneself. Especially when you’re forced out into this weather, much against your will.

It wasn’t long before glistening green eyes could make out buried treasures under the snow. The white that had blended together was beautiful yes, but it was more irritating than anything to the one seeking shelter. Winter was nice, when you had a choice of when to partake of your time outside.

A long stone wall before her eyes seemed to be guarding something, and was completely encased in the snow. She might have missed it, had it not been for her trained eyes. As to whether it was keeping in or out, she didn’t care at this point. Just a flashing thought in her mind, as she landed silently in the snow at the gate. Sinking into the frozen precipitation, her boots, which elevated her form two inches, didn’t seem to be phased by the amount on the ground. The fact that she’d landed in the fresh tracks of a car, well that made it even better. She’d have to walk from here.

Veil folded in her wings as quickly as she could hoping to get them warm, but it just made it all the more colder inside her coat. Joy. Tugging at her hood lined with fur, she noticed that it was already considerably warmer on this side of the trees. A windbreak. This place seemed hidden from the world, but she could tell it was not forgotten. Ears perked up under her hood, a trait of herself that would normally have been kept hidden, to listen to the air around her. A male voice somewhere in the distance resonated through the thick fabric, and she took mental note of it.

As long as she hadn’t been noticed yet, she was fine with the situation. One thing Veil knew about other people, is what they don’t know, and can’t see, never hurt them.

Daniel grabbed his camera and snapped a shot of Adriel, who blinked a couple of times in pure confusion before his eyesight became clear. "Why...?" He said calmly.

"I never got a picture of you when your eyes are blue...." True enough, the steel blue eyes started to become a deep violet when Daniel finally relaxed. The man of white hair shook his head with a small smile. "I see, Dan."

Adele was about to open his mouth to invite them in, already looking for a piece of paper between his pockets when the other two males suddenly became very still. Daniel looked startled and confuse, while Adriel was relaxed still, but his eyes were sharp on the territory. "You felt it, too?" The younger one said, gaining a very small and subtle nod.

"I am not sure what it is, tho..." The white haired male sniffed the air, but he was no bloodhound, he felt no scent, but the presence was still there.

"If you two are done being paranoia, we could enter the house and get warm." Adele startle them both when he spoke up.

"Then I suppose I take my leave." The taller man began to turn when he was grabbed by the sleeve of his coat.

"Come on, just stay for a while? I haven't even told you how things are going back at home." Daniel smiled and tried his best puppy dog eyes.

"Those stop working years ago." Adriel smirked.

"The house isn't mine..."

"Huh?" Both Daniel and Adriel said, looking back at the black haired one.

"The house is in my father's name, it, technically, isn't mine. You are taking no shelter under my aid, but his."

"....Very well, I suppose..." Adriel's voice said calmly. "IF you can give me proo-" He was stopped by a paper being shoved in front of his face. "Ah...well.....indeed....Let us go inside then?"

Veil’s breath caught as she listened to the men’s words, pulling her ears back under her hood. Somehow, her being on this property had pinged off some alert in their minds, and she knew something about them wasn’t normal. Her bones felt it. Then again, she wasn’t one to talk about normal. The wind cut at her again, and she shivered under her many layers. Really winter wasn’t always a bother to the doll-like girl, but having half the normal amount of blood running through her veins…that really took a toll.

Blinking through her crystal colored eyes, she began to walk, knowing she’d stand out like the sun at night. It sounded like the occupants of this abode were heading inside from the elements, but she’d walk slow to keep hidden anyways. Cold was invading her lungs the more she breathed in the air, and the gauze wrapped around her neck was almost completely frozen from the layers of blood and been rendered useless.

Loose rivulets of hot blood soaked into her coat and were quickly robbed of their warmth. This place would have to be where she stopped for now, before she lost more than her blood. Gathering her coat a bit closer, she clenched her teeth as she picked up the pace. It really was time to get inside.

Adele enter the house along with Daniel, but Adriel stayed outside, staring towards the driveway as if expecting to see something. His purple eyes narrow completely. "Come out this moment." He said with an eerie calmness. "I assure you it will less deadly for you if you do so now." The velvet voice said without sharp edge, the the threat vibrated behind it.

The other two males stayed inside the house, mainly because Adriel was holding the door close and neither had the physical strength to pry it open, not that they were trying. They knew better then that.

Bold was probably not the right word to utilize for this situation, but for a person used to being in the dark, it was just proper. From behind the shadow of the towering pines, Veil placed her elevated height by way of boots into the snow, shifting into clear visuals of the man by the home. The house was full of heat, and practically empty. Save for two souls…that she’d already accounted for. They gave off reasonably normal aura waves, but something was different with this one.

A gust of wind tore against her hood, and the fabric yielded, slipping back onto her shoulders. Loosely tied deep crimson locks whipped around her face as she blinked her crystal eyes to focus on him through the snow. He seemed to blend more into it than she ever had, and he was dressed much in the same colors.

Veil had the appearance of a child, and for the most part she played it like that. Her doll like features were a gift that she respected well. Gripping her fist close tightly as the cold wind hit her wound, she clenched her teeth under closed lips. She wasn’t showing him anything that would give him the upper hand. So why did she feel like she’d already been beaten?

Adriel's purple eyes narrow further as his hair cascade over his shoulders and downwards, it was the only movement his body shown. Those eyes locked on the child-like figure approaching the house as his muscles tensed under his long coat, like a large cat getting ready to pounce and attack. The wind did a little to make him relax in a less threatning position as he stood up, his hand leaving the nob as he close his long coat, covering his scarred chest. "Child, what are you doing in the snow at this hour of the night.....bleeding..." His voice caressed without vibration of threat this time.

As the rather tall man stood there watching her, his features seemed kinder as he relaxed, thought there was a light tension in his movement he would not get rid of. Paranoia that he had develop a long time ago and refuse to reassure himself that this was nothing. Just a lost a child.

Although she was well aware of the wound, Veil’s hand rose to touch the gash at her neck at his comment, almost as if she was surprised. Then eyes darting to desperately look at the snow, her lips finally parted and she spoke. “Seeking shelter.” Her voice was like liquid, and had more weight to it than a child’s should. “Is that alright?”

Her piece spoken, Veil’s gaze rose only to fall on his face. Did he really know what she was, or just about her blood? She was still standing to this ceremony despite the sheets of cold rolling through her system. A shaky breath was drawn through her lips, too silent to hear. Even she couldn’t tell if it was nervousness or just fatigue.

“Although…you knew I was hurt even before I set foot here.” Her eyes dared to flicker with a light inside them. Just a hint of the vibrancy she carried, but kept tucked away inside her.

"Its a gift..." He murmured in response to her comment before turning away, opening the door. "You may come in, but be forwarned, I shall tolerate only so much from you, step out of line and it will your last step, 'child'"

He enter the house and held the door open for her, waiting. Neither of the other two males were visible, but by the sounds, it could be said that they were somewhere in the kitchen. A clattering of pots and low whistle of a happy kettle. Warmth swung out of the home, enveloping the girl, awaiting her entry.

Veil blinked at him before taking refuge in the doorway of the house, not yet entering fully. Under normal circumstances she’d have just kept her shoes on, but this was not her abode. It would have been…gravely rude of her, to skip such a formality. Slipping off her boots without fumbling, then kneeled down briefly to gather the pair of footwear into her hand, and place it by the sides of the door. Her socks were black, and had been wrapped at the ankle in crimson ribbons.

Standing up, she nodded her head at him slightly, before shifting to walk inside. Her movements were always fluid, always careful and reserved. Unhooking the clasp at the top of her coat, she pulled off the garment that seemed to be leaking cold as much as it had originally tried to protect. Hugging it to her chest, she made sure to turn her back to him before she dared let her wings twitch, taking in the sudden warmth on her skin.

The blood loss on her journey had made her quite pale, and the rose blush on her cheeks stood out even more in the heat. Usually, Veil was quite calm and proper, but this was forced because she simply didn’t have the energy to be otherwise. Blinking at Adriel, she motioned to her coat. “Where shall I place this?” Another rivulet of blood slipped out in her speaking effort, pass the more than overwhelmed gauze that had been there a while already. “And…thank you. For letting me come inside.”

Adriel took off his thick black boots, pushing them against the wall, 5ft by 7ft area of tiled floor before the warm wooden floor began was meant for taking shoes off and coats. While neither Adele nor his farther were of Japanese or Chinese ancestry, they picked up on somethings. It did made keeping a rather large house mostly clean.

Taking off his own coat, he rose an eyebrow at the female's coat. His eyes elsewhere for a moment. Before he put out his hand for the coat, once it was given, he hung it on one of the hooks along the wall, along with his own. His upper body lay nude from a shirt, but there was a thick bandages surrendering his upper left arm and his right forearm, both slightly soaked. His feet rested between black socks, plain and simple.
"Of course, I am not completely heartless, not matter what many say." He gave light smirk.

The cool brown hair became visible from a doorway as Daniel shyly peeked out, like a child. "Ah..." He said lightly, knowledgeably before disappearing, his shout, tho, was heard. "Put another cup of tea out!"

The white haired man rolled his eyes before looking at the girl. "....We'll be changing those as soon as we get you dry and warm." He pointed at her bandages. "No reason to go bleeding all over the carpet.." He looked at his arm. "Er...either of us."

Not used to having such care being taken to her, Veil closed her eyes for a moment and drew in a deep breath. The heat swam around her and her ears buzzed a bit, still she kept them hidden under her hair. Many a situation had gone awry when inhabitants found out her secrets. Dry and warm. Those words seemed so foreign to her, and yet they sent her mind into a happy little ride in the back of her head. Clean bandages, anyone could tell that was needed…but for them both…?

Then looking up she spotted the wounds, and mentally she was shocked. Eyes fluttering open a bit, she leaned over and reached out a hand with slender fingers to touch the edge of the bandages. Just barely, enough to stir in her mind that the bandages really were there. It was almost as if she was in disbelief that such a dressing would be on the man before her.

In reality, she was shocked. Usually she could sense these things, but for some unforeseen reason she had failed to in this instance. Really, Veil was out of it mentally, completely spent. Relief flooded her system in knowing that she was at least in a safe and warm place for the time being. The winter might have claimed her otherwise. Finally noticing her rudeness, she blinked and withdrew her hand to her chest almost as if someone had hit her. It was a reflex that Veil could not help.

“How rude of me.” She bowed her head slightly. “My apologies.”

Looking up she spotted the young man peeking around the doorway, and she just tilted her head slightly in silent wonder. Voices that she could hear, didn’t always match up to the faces she pictured. Apparently they were housemates of this man…

“I am Veil.” She began, almost weakly, but continued with her voice growing slightly stronger. “You are?”

Smoothing out her dress in formality she shivered a bit. The cold had really gotten to her, and in her mind she really decided that her life had just been saved. Her black dress was pretty elaborate for just someone to wear, and even accented her doll-like features more. Lace and a few frills at the hem, and yards and yard of fabric. Still, it was no match to the harsh unforgiving weather. Looking up at the while haired man once more, she was of even shorted stature without her boots. He seemed to be gathering his thoughts, so she waited to hear his name. She would not let herself forget it.

The man watched her with a raised eyebrow for a long moment until she apologize, his mind wonder away until she asked his name. "Dr. Hart." He said almost automatically. "Now lets see if Adele has anything you can wear, that dress has to be soak to the bone."

The man began walking, but stopped for a moment and waited for her, deciding that taking slower steps would have to do, not that he wasn't used to it by now.
----------------------
Somewhere else in the house

Daniel sat in the living room, throwing pieces of wood at the fire. "Who do you think she is?"

Adele just shrugged as he finish setting up the tea and food. "I don't know, but she doesn't seemed like she iwll cause problems. Was she what was disturbing both of you earlier?"

The brown head nodded slowly. "I think so. It didn't felt like a pokemon, so she had to be it."

Adele rose an eyebrow. "What do I need a burglar alarm for with you and Hartless around." He muttered with a grin, getting hit on the head with a newspaper. "Hey!"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:35 pm

Veil was too tired to be her usual self, and with the added fact that she already had a debt to these people, she decided it was in everyone’s best interest that she behave herself. Obediently, she trailed after Dr. Hart, hands still folded in front of her in an overly proper manner. Her small feet tread lightly on the floor, almost as if she wasn’t there at all.

Happy that her wings were slowly getting warmer, now she shifted focus to her feet which were now crying out from holding her up still. It wasn’t yet time to rest, Veil told her body firmly. There were more formalities to be addressed before that could happen. Before she would let herself rest.

“Anything will do.” She stated simply, hoping that her clothing wouldn’t mean too much of an impression at the moment. She did have a wound and had been traveling for hours…so it hardly mattered in the end. “Just, whatever you can spare.”

Whenever she spoke, her words seemed to have a weight on them, and almost as if her thoughts were coming out of left field. In the kitchen, she could hear murmuring about her between the other two. Not surprising, a stranger just appearing at their doorstep. Veil wanted to know what they were discussing, but had no want to spend the extra energy, or show her ears off to this group just yet.

Adriel nodded and lead her to Adele's room, he had picked off the man's room easily, even thought this was the first time he had come to this house. Opening the room, he invited her in and pointed out the bathroom to her. Looking through the drawers, he picked out some slacks and a thin sweater, for now, they would do. Following the girl into the bathroom, he handed her just the pants as he took a towel down and handed that too her too. "Dry yourself, put on those." He grabbed at second towel. "Undo your bandages and wrapped this one around your upper body and call me. I'll clean the wound and put new bandages on."

He stepped out of the bathroom and out of the room, looking into the main bathrooms, grabbing an aid kit and walked back to the room, sitting down on the bed and waited.
