So, without going into any spoilery details, there is supposed to be a Pretender in Transformers 2. This upsets me greatly, and unless they somehow work it out so it's not like the Pretenders we all know are the dumbest thing to ever happen to the Transformers franchise, then I DON'T WANT IT.
What are your opinions?

i thought the idea behide them was good but the execution was not so...lets face it the toys were crap.

I say he's trying to do way too much. I mean he hasn't even gone through any of the real stuff yet. The first movie was more of a "hey guys look what we can do and welcome to Transformers". And already he's bringing in the garbage of pretending to be human and all. That came way later as the series became pretty much dead (after killing Optimus) and they needed some other "hook" to keep fans.
I can see it now pretender = more human presence in the movie scream and minus bot count.

If it's a Frenzy-type critter like from the first movie that's wrapped in a fleshy skin, which it being a Bay production it will most likely shred to bits in an actiony sequence where it goes apeshit, creepy robotic ninja style?

The only way he can make money is if he puts more people in it. Animated film ie. the big robots never makes enough because without the humans you only get the fans and there's not enough of them to flood the theaters across the world for months straight. But if you have the "hottie" in the movie then all of a sudden you have the fans of the bots, fans of the stars and people who's going because their significant other is drooling over the hottie. It's all about the money. scream

I don't know, dude. If I wanted robots that looked human, I'd go see the new Terminator movie.

I agree. I like the way IDW handled it. Then again, they changed the concept into a more grotesque organic skin-graft type of thing.
What I hear about what Bay's planning? Not so much.

I'm not sure of what to think of them yet... I haven't heard of them up until this thread, to be honest, but it sounds like a good idea. Like monkey_2.0 said, the idea was sound but is sounds like the execution was crap. D:
On another note... I keep seeing something like "Days of our lives" happening.

I really enjoyed the Pertenders and don't think they did enough with them in G1. However, I don't think they belong in the movie. Heck looking at what I've seen of Devastator I don't think he belongs in the movie. Maybe it's just me but he looks like a scrapheap.
