 Hoku stared at his reflection in a deep pool of water... He just stood there, not moving a muscle, barely breathing. It was like he was searching for something, or maybe someone, in that unwavering shadow. The moon shone brightly over head, but Hoku did not feel tired. He was all alone, all alone... A drop of water broke the surface and sent a ripple through his reflection. With a furious snarl, Hoku smashed his paw across the pond and scattered his image before turning away in livid anger. He swiped the back of his paw over his eyes, and was enraged to find that they were the source of the drop of water. A tear had broken his concentration, it had shattered his reflection. Hoku turned his head to the moon, and howled, deeply and mournfully, yet it was a howl filled with pent up rage.

 What had made Kirara go down this unbeaten path she would never know. She was just walking along in her true form trying to avoid hitting low branches. Her eyes was studying the dark sky past the trees and she could have just kept walking if something had not broken the silents around her. Pausing in mid step she peers around trying to pinpoint where a howling like sound had come from. Turning and heading towards where she thought it was she peered ahead looking for what had the sound.

Hoku was angry, but he wasn't sure why. Was it because he was alone? Or did it have something to do with how he never felt like he knew who he was...? Hoku had searched and searched in his reflection for days now, but he couldn't find anything there. His eyes held nothing, no passion for anything... what was his purpose?! Is that all dragonflies do...? Do they just live? Hoku felt like all he did was eat, sleep, walk a bit, eat, and then sleep some more.
He was always told that dragonflies were the superior being, but what exactly did they do that was so superior?! There were other carnivores in the forest, dragonflies weren't the only ones that ate meat. Who were they more superior than? Hoku snarled and charged at a near by tree and rammed into it with all his might. He bashed his head against the trunk and then turned away from it in disgust. A faint trickle of hot liquid ran down his forehead, and Hoku brought his paw of his head and looked at it. It was blood.

Kirara moved forward almost carefully. She really didn't have to be careful but she always liked to have a light step when facing something she was not sure of. The sound of something hitting a tree made her adjust her path towards it. She was sure it was the same thing that made the howling sound.
The smell of blood hit the air and she got worried. What if a dragonfly was hurt from being attacked by something. Maybe that howl was a cry of pain and the sound against the tree was - . She shook her head and kept moving until she came upon the smell of the blood. Stopping to watch the dragonfly that was no more then ten steps away she turned her head. He looked find other then a glint of something wet on his head.

Hoku's spiked hair fur became stained red, and he shook his head splattering droplets of his blood everywhere. Suddenly, he smelt another dragonfly in the area, a big one. But Hoku was not afraid, in fact, he was angry! Who is this that DARES see me when I'm this weak. Sneaking up on me like this... I'll give 'em a piece of my mind no matter HOW big they are! Hoku thought furiously.
He then looked over at the pool, wondering whether to wash the blood off his head, but decided against it. Not only might the gash leave a cool scar, but the blood could make him look more daunting to the dragonfly that dare disturb his peace. Hoku extended his claws into the grass and snapped his head up, staring in the direction of the other dragonfly's scent with his piercing blue eyes. "Show yourself you slinking slithering sneak! Who d' ya think you are?! Spying on me..."

Kirara was a little taken back by how the young dragonfly spoke and snapped at her without even seeing her. She really didn't mean to sneak up on him, she was just worried was all. Stepping forward so she got a better look at the young dragonfly and so she was seen. She jkust watched him for a moment.
"Are you alright?" Her voice was low and soft. She didn't want to scare the teen or anything. She was just worried about him and why he was so mad.

Hoku blinked as the elder stepped out of the shadow of the trees and into the moonlight. He was surprised, yes, that it was an elder, but he refused to show fear. Hoku snarled and put fire into his eyes, almost daring the female elder to feel sorry for him. He fangs seemed to glint and call the attention of his eyes, but he refused to look at them lest he loose control of his fear. Instead, Hoku stared strait into her eyes and snarled replied, "Ain't none 'o your business ma'am. Why dont'cha just turn you and your fluffy self 'round before ya get yourself int'a some'in deeper than you can get out of..."

Kirara frowned for a moment and sat down were she was. Curling her twin tail around herself she waited. "I'm sorry youngling. But this is my business as soon as I heard it. It is not normal for someone so young to have so much hate." She still spoke softly and watched. She wanted to know why the young dragonfly was bleeding and why he seemed so mad. And if she for into trouble some how then that was alright.

Hoku rolled his eyes, "Geeze ma'am why you gotta be so darn serious..." He frowned and glared at her, "Anyways... you aint my mama, and it aint none 'o your business to go snoopin around in other peoples lives. I aint hurtin nobody so you can just leave me be, thank ya kindly." Hoku glanced at the rest of the female and noted her fangs, ears, and tails. She was NOT someone Hoku wanted to get in a fight with... but... she certainly was very big, which meant a get away into the thick forest would be easy for small Hoku, "And if you are gonna be stubborn an just sit there like a lump, I'll just lift my little booty and go somewhere where I don have to look at an eye sore like you!" He glared at the lady, daring her yet again to keep on pushing his patience...

"Yes, we can't change how we are born. Nor can we change how we choose to live the life set before us. I may not be your mother, but I can care for a youngling that is bleeding." She made no move towards the teen and just sat there. She normaly avoided other dragonflies unless they were younger. "Will you at least tell me what is wrong before you go off? Because even if I was to leave now, would be worried about you."

Hoku quirked an eyebrow and scoffed, "You think I care whether or not you worry about me...? I couldn't care less! Like I said lady, if you don't leave... I'll leave... it still a'int none 'o your business what I do, and you aren't getting anything else out of me!" He turned on his heels and began to stalk off, in a somewhat crooked line due to the fact the his head was still spinning from the impact with the tree. Hoku then paused for a moment and and glared over his shoulder at the elder before snarling, "But I'll give you something to mull over... If there were less dragonfly's like you in this god forsaken forest, I'd be a much... happier... dragonfly..." Hoku accented his last few words to lay on the dramatics and shook his head trying to clear it of the ringing that ran through it from his collision. Droplets of blood splatted about once more, and he turned, continuing to stalk off just as shakily as before.

Kirara laughed for a moment at the teen. "Well if you don't care if I will worry about you, then you wouldn't mind me following you." She got up and slowly followed after the young dragonfly. She was making a point to be nosey now. "Or would you rather me not be a caring dragonfly and be like some of the others out there?" She shifted so the moon flashed off her fangs for a moment.

Hoku snarled over his shoulder, "You don't scare me so don't even try. If you go after me I'll just duck into the brush and there'll be no way you could get at me being as big as you are. So don't even try to scare me into submission, I'm not a pup..." He turned and bounded off into the forest, wishing the stupid female would just leave him alone. Why did they always try to involve themselves in things that didn't concern them?! An evil voice in Hoku's head rang out, Well here you have it... you wanted something else other than eating, sleeping, and wandering...? You got it! In the form of a big, fuzzy, annoying elder... Careful what you wish for next time you doof!

Kirara laughed again and followed after making sure to keep an careful eye on where the teen was going. It was true that she was bigger so she wouldn't fit past all the trees, but she could just go around them. And with longer legs it was not hard to keep pace with the teen.
A thought flickered through her mind as to why she was doing this. She had to smile to herself because she had to answer. She should just leave the young dragonfly on his own. So she flicked her tail and went back to the water to get a drink. If he really didn't want her to follow then he would just keep walking.

Hoku heard paw steps through the trees behind him and snarled, picking up the pace. The cold night air was stinging his face and pulling him out of the thick cloud that fogged his mind after his collision with the tree. He began to weave through dense brush, feeling the barbs of throned plants tug against his skin. HAH! THIS'LL throw her off.... she wont be stubborn enough to follow me through THIS, Hoku thought to himself. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps behind him stopped, and Hoku smirked in triumph. YES! I got her to leave me alone...! What could a furball like her do for me anyways?! She was so stupid... thinking I would just tell her whats wrong... what a noisy little pry'er!"
