Sgt Rotter Cailin walked along the dirt road heading towards the stream. The moon was high in the sky and the stars were twinkling. Her favorite time was night fall. It was just so peaceful, so quiet. Nothing could disturb her thoughts not like they could during the day when their was much to do. This time however, she'd have to make sure she didn't stay out too late. Last time she did her father had a cow. Sighing softly when she came to the lake, she took a seat, fell back onto the grass and just stare up at the night sky.

A snort sounded from the bushes, where a strange creature had awoken. It had been only a few nights since the beast had hatched, and he found a curious little scent to follow. Much like most beasts, he couldn't speak, was quite feisty, and was huge compared to the normal pets humans had. That curiosity caused him to wander in the darkness, hiding in the grasses and bushes of the wilderness. Having not found any gargoyles to follow, it seemed to just click for the creature to find a human instead.
Yet again, a snort escaped from his nose, and dust puffed out from where he was sniffing. Something was in front of him, something had been traveling that he hadn't encountered. And that something was right ahead.
When Daivat moved out from the grasses, he let out a whine, before seeing a shadow and letting out a growl. It seemed he had discovered Cailin, who didn't want to be found.

Nightwing grinned as he caught another fresh current and managed to keep gliding along, he had circled the castle and was on his way to his new favorite clearing when he spotted a human heading towards the water. His tilted his head and moved lower and lower curiously, most humans didn't come out so late, and when they did they didn't often like to be alone. They seemed to be a bit more social, curiously he landed on the dirt road behind the girl.
He twisted his head as he heard a growl to his right and stepped back a bit. His wings folded over his chest and he waited curious to see what sort of scene might be unfolding before him.

Sitting up quickly when the sound of growling met her ears, Cailin looked around cautiously. If she wasn't careful she could easily get herself into a lot of trouble especially if what she heard came from a wild animal...no a wounded wild animal. They seemed to prove the most violent and for good reason.
"Easy now..."she calmly spoke as she slowly rose to her feet. "I'm not going to hurt you." Slowly she began to back away from the direction she heard the growl come from. Just to put some space between her and the creature so that it wouldn't feel threatened. "See...no harm done."

He took another step out into the clearing, and suddenly the moon illuminated his red form. His head raised slightly, his nose sniffing up and down as his ears perked up. Muscles rippling slightly in his small form, he came up to just under the bushes, even with his head up.
A bark sounded again, and his tongue rolled a bit to the side.
However, that was simply because she was to the side, and he was still young. But when he caught another sight, and heard the flutter of wings, he growled and turned to the side, looking for the source of the noise.

Nightwing couldn't contain the soft chuckle that escaped him as the beast barked and let his tongue roll from his mouth. Despite it's size and appearance with it's ears up and tongue out it looked harmless. Harmless that was until it turned and growled at him.
He lifted his hands and smiled "Easy boy, I'm not going to hurt you either." He glanced at the girl and offered an uncertain smile. "Uh...hello there..." Awkwardly he held out a hand for her in mimicry of human handclasps he had seen. Nightwing's skills of interaction were only barely improved since he had come to gain a friend.

Her eyes went wide when she saw the beast but not because she feared it. Sure it was something entirely new to her seeing as she hadn't had the luck of seeing a gargoyle or their "hounds" but so what. That didn't change the fact that he was just too adorable. Cailin was tempted to fall to her knees, open her arms and call him over to her but when he looked to the side it brought a bit of worry to her, that is until she heard the calm voice.
Turning her head, she watched as he stepped forth and listened carefully as he spoke. It wasn't a matter of trying to understand him, more like listening for malicious intent. When she found none she countered his uncertain smile with a warm and welcoming one. Taking the hand offered with her right hand, she used her left to take hold of her cream colored skirt to her peasant dress and curtsied.
"Hello. It seems tonight will be more interesting than I thought."

He watched with glowing eyes as the gargoyle moved closer, stepping back and sniffing at his wings when he passed by. Growling in the back of his throat, he watched the interaction before moving to get closer. The female smelt weird to the pup, but the male felt familiar, reassuring almost.
And so, he got as close as he could, sneaking slowly and sniffing at the wings, the tail, and anything else he could get to without being noticed. At least, without being noticed much.

Nightwing watched the female curtsy and tried to mimic her, he grasped the edge of his loincloth and copied her move. "Oh and why is that?" He let his hands fall back to his side and looked at her with the same curiously shining in his eyes.
He glanced over and held back a chuckle as the beast sniffed at him. His tail flicked out and he playfully let the tip tickle against the creatures ear. "Wonder where he came from?"

Cailin chuckled softly. "Um...I see your not really familiar with our customs." She bit her lower lip for a moment, while tucking a stray lock of curly chocolate brown hair behind her ear. "What you just did is called a curtsy and it's the female are to do that when greeting another. Males actually bow like so..."
She brought her left hand behind her back, and bent forward slightly while extending her right arm out to the side. "Or you can just simply leave both arms at your side, which ever is most comfortable for you." Her pale blue eyes locked with his for a moment before she moved to adress his first question.
"Well as much I come out here, I never have the luck of catching a glimpse or even meeting your kin. I really didn't expect tonight to be different from any other night."
Gathering her skirt in her tan colored hands, she lowered herself to the ground until she was on her knee's and her skirt loosely resting around her. Then she held her right hand up and called softly to the best only to answer the next question the male gargoyle presented. "I've honestly no clue, but I sure hope his parents aren't too far off. Hate to have him spend the night all alone."
Goodness where were her manners!? She hadn't even given him her name. "Forgive my rude behavior. My name is Cailin...and you are?"

When the tail flicked his ear, he jumped back with a yap. Suddenly, he started barking loudly in response, moving from side to side before he slipped and fell on his belly. That didn't stop him from continuing his attack on the tail, and he jumped.
Landing, he aimed for the waving tail, and sought to wrap his teeth around the thing and see how it tasted. Live prey was a lot of fun, much more than he first expected.

"Ahhh..." Nightwing nodded and bowed to her, he smiled and stood straight once more. "A curtsy for females, and a bow for males...These are more greetings then?" He crouched as she sat.
"I've met a few humans, they call me Nightwing for my wings you see? Because they are as dakr as the ni-" He let out a snarl and turned with a frown as the beast chomped down on his tail.
He pulled his tail up and examined it, luckily there were only tiny punctures, no blood. He bent and scooped the beat pup up and frowned down at it "I suppose I can't blame the little thing, perhaps he's hungry?" He moved to crouch once more and set the beat between Cailin and himself.

"Possible, or could be that you frightened the poor pub with that stunt." She placed her hands on the beasts head and gave him a nice rub behind the ears. "Now you just calm yourself down. Biting is a big no-no." Looking up from the red beast she spied Nightwings tail and frowned slightly. "You should really wrap that up. It may not be bleeding, but leaving puncture wounds unattended can end up with a painful infection."
Cailin looked around them. She did see a plant who's sap she once used to ease the pain of her wound in the past. Hmmm. She knew what she could do. "Hold on for a moment." Reaching down, she ripped off some fabric from the bottom of her skirt and ventured to the lake. Stepping into until until it came to the middle of her calves , she dipped the fabric into the cool water and rang it out until it was just damp. She then left the lake, gathered the plant and brought it back to where Nightwing sat.
"The sap will help keep the wound from becoming infected and the cool damp cloth should keep it from swelling...if you don't mind...I could administer the aid." She was asking for his permission. Last thing she wanted to do was to invade his space, after all he may want to do it himself.

He let out a yelp when he was picked up, but didn't do much else except look at Nightwing. Tilting his head, he let himself get set down, before turning and seeing the girl up close. He moved closer and sniffed, before she patted his head.
His teeth snarled for just a moment, before his ears flattened and he relaxed. When she moved away, he tried to follow before he appeared to realize, and moved back to where Nightwing was. Settling at his feet, he watched Cailin with a tilted head and a hanging tongue.

Blue eyes watched with open curiosity as Cilin ripped her skirt and moved into the water. He looked at the plant uncertainly before focusing back on the girl before him. With a smile he lifted his tail indulgently nodding "Of course you can, my thanks for the aid."
He was willing to accept and learn from whatever this treatment was, though he knew that the morning would bring stone sleep and rejuvenation. He grinned down at the beast and shook his head. "I suppose you could be right, he doesn't look as if anything would frighten him though..."
