Distinguishing Features:
Skull Plate - The right half of his face is a skull. It is hard and cool like bone, yet does not have a transition point from flesh to bone.
Empty Eye socket: - Kay's right eye is empty; a hollow hole that can be touched or used as a pocket for tiny things without inducing pain. So far, he's put marbles and money in it for a sort period of time.
Nahual - Nahual is a feathered serpent that is fused to the top right side of his skull. A dark brownish red in colour with a bright yellow eye and feathered feline ears coming out the top of his head. He's a rotten little thing and is prone to biting at a moment's notice.
Odd Tidbits:
High pain threshold: - He's spent most of his life running into things from not paying attention and constantly getting bitten by Nahual or Tek. Thus his threshold for pain is very high. If he gets hurt he'll acknowledge it, but unless it's serious he won't stop to correct it. So far the only thing to make him seriously hurt was when Tek licked his neck, or when Quinn bit down on his arm...and of course when he tore up the bottoms of his feet to help Gera save Roxy.
Shrunken Head Bowling: - Kay created this game using plastic bowling pins and a shrunken head he found and named 'Mrrh', for the mumbling noises he makes when he tries to 'talk' to Kay.

Family: Chris Gear (Father; Deceased) - Auto Mechanic; Chris Gear had married Tanya Burke at a young age, a union which was broken by an argument over raising Troy that ended in a prompt divorce. Fifteen years later, at the age of 40, he married Sarah Forbes and had three children with her; Sam, Lian and Switch. He owned and operated "C & S Automotive", and made enough to support a growing family. His second marriage was much more successful, and he lived happily with his family until a heart attack claimed him five years ago.
Sarah Gear (Mother; Alive) - Housewife, Assistant; Sarah married Chris in her late twenties, and opened an Automotive Repair shop with him, which she more often played secretary. She raised three infants and tried her best with the rebellious step son. Always the caring and doting Mother, she encouraged her children to do whatever they wanted in life, as long as it made them happy. Now a widow, Sarah spends her days knitting and browsing Yahoo! Answers and doing what she can to help others.
Troy Gear (Brother; Alive) - Auto Mechanic; First Brother, fifteen years her senior. Troy is the half-brother of the family, being Chris' son from his previous marriage. He opted to stay with his Father and even adopted the last name. After Chris' death, Troy inherited the Auto shop. Switch doesn't know much about Troy, they were never very close.
Sam Gear (Brother; Alive) - Salesman; Second Brother, four years her senior. He was always the loudest and most argumentative child in the family, and right now holds a happy position as a door-to-door Salesman. He's doing quite well, considering he's living off of commissions. Switch hasn't seen Sam since she moved to Durem, but she occasionally talks to him over the phone or through a messenger.
Lian Gear (Brother; Deceased) - Student; Third Brother, two years her senior. Lian and Switch were practically inseperable...right up until an accident claimed his life. He had been walking home from High School with Switch and a car jumped the curb. Lian took the brunt of the damage and unfortunately never recovered. Twelve years later, Switch has mostly recovered from the trauma.
Kale (Common Law; Alive) - Housekeeper / Love; This dark-skinned man with no memory found Switch while she was laying on a grassy hill while the sprinklers were going off; she had tripped and badly sprained her ankle, and decided it best not to move. A few snark comments were passed back and forth, and eventually he convinced her to go to the Hospital, where she discovered he had no real memory of who or what he was, not even a name outside of an identification number. She promptly named him Kale and offered to let him live with her. Their relationship has been growing steadily ever since.
Xbalanque (Adopted Son; Alive) - Child from a Mask; Switch was drawn into the Balcombe Curiosities while it was still under the ownership of Marilyn Balcombe. She was drawn towards a Mayan Shaman Mask, which Marilyn had given to her for free. The next day she heard a shrill cry and a flash of light...and there he was, a dark skinned toddler with a skull plated face and a feathered serpent fused to his skull. She's been taking care of him ever since.
Tek (Adopted Son; Alive) - Reformed Criminal; Currently an infant, Tek came crashing into Switch's life from the sky itself. A meteor fell from the sky near the shop, and when Switch went out to investigate she found this little toddler, and a few papers talking about some criminal named Lionel Patterson. Odd...the infant doesn't look like him at all! Now renamed Tek, Switch had been taking care of him. Even if he does leave her with cuts and bruises.
Quint (Adopted Son; Alive) - Child from a Shark's Jaw; Despite Switch's order for Kale to go nowhere near the Curiosities shop, this set of Shark Jaws manages to find him anyway. Grudgingly, Switch added him to the Family. She doesn't know much about him yet, though...
Distinguishing Features:
Blue Hair: The only person who knows whether or not this is her natural hair colour is Kale. However, he is under orders not to tell anyone if it's one way or the other... She likes to keep it a mystery?
No Tattoos or Piercings: Same as above...she tells everyone she doesn't, and there aren't any visible ones. The only person who would know whether or not she was telling the truth would be Kale.
Odd Tidbits:
Shell Shocked: While she has improved greatly since she first came to Durem, Switch is terrified of loud, sudden noises. This spans from a chemical accident a few years ago, where she was in the building when it exploded.
Infertile: Also thanks to the Chemical accident, Switch was told she would never be able to have children of her own. At first, she was more than okay with that; Children were loud, they were uncontrollable variables...and that was scary to her. She's not sure how she feels about that now though, especially now that her attachment to Kale has greatly intensified...
Doesn't wear a bra: Ever since her first time in bed with Kale (technically second, but they were too drunk to really recall the first time), Switch has found ways to avoid wearing a bra. He forbid her from wearing one, and since that has to this date been the only thing he's really asked of her, she goes out of her way to obey. Instead, she cleverly wears tank tops and camisoles with one built in.
