 Nightwing had watched each night as the moon slowly lost it's roundness, tonight it was a perfect crescent in the sky. His sharp blue eyes scanned below as he tried to catch the proper currents and glide back to the place he had met Maura. The rich smell told his nose what his eyes could not, he was very close. To him that smell would always hold a bit of magic now, for it had enabled him to find a real friend.
Finally he spotted the lush clearing and landed among the night blooming flowers, his wings causing a slight gust of wind that made them dance and scatter their soft petals. He looked about and gave a slight from when he didn't spot her, he ran his claws through his hair and ruffled it back away from his eyes. With a sigh he moved to a crouch, relaxing as he stared at the flowers. His eyes saw past them though into memories of the past.
In the back of his mind he hoped she would come though they hadn't arranged to meet, it was nice having a friend to talk to.

 Maura twirled through the sky, graceful as a delicate petal whirling about in the wind. She alternated between her wings spread wide and tucked against her sides, allowing her to twist and spin about in the air.
She had left the flowers she had been drying on a ledge near where she slept during the day, happy over how well they had turned out. All but one, that is. That single one, its petals crinkled and its stem hard, was tucked behind one ear, so that she could have the scent with her where she went.
Slowly, she descended from the sky, soaring down to her favorite spot, landing as gently as a feather just on the edge of the clearing, right behind her friend. She hadn't expected him to be there, but she was happy for it nonetheless. She wanted to tell him that he had been right about the flowers and show him the one she had as proof. She folded her wings around herself and decided to surprise him, waiting in amused silence for him to turn around.((I had to hide the modum before my brother came home. So if I'm not on when you get back, then I won't be back on... for a while.))

With a stretch of his might wings, he finally stood and like a great cat he arched his back with a soft growl. Curiously he turned and jumped back his wings lifting him slightly for a moment before he fell back to his feet with a grin.
"Maura!" He chuckled and held his hand out to her. "Your as silent as the night breeze, you startled me." His tail lashed behind him before he relaxed and stepped a bit closer.

Maura smiled at him, stepped forward, and placed her hand in his. She closed the distance between them a bit more before speaking.
"I'm sorry I startled you, I usually get around quite silently," she replied, smoothing her hair behind her ear once more. She was careful of the dried bloom, keeping it safe so that the tanned petals stuck out against the side of her face.
"I haven't seen you for a while, how have you been?"

"It's alright, I guess I was lost in thought, you might have been the loudest of beasts and I would have been startled." He chuckled and gave her a bow as he had only recently been taught by a human. He liked their greeting and odd ways, not all their ways but many.
"I've been well, and you Maura?" He smiled and glanced at the dry flowers tucked within her hair. "Have you come to enjoy the gift that flowers can bring even once they die?"

Maura smiled back and nodded as he bowed over her hand.
"That must have been some deep thinking, then," she replied smoothly. Her other hand rose to touch the flower behind her ear and nodded again.
"I much prefer them alive, but I'll agree they're pretty and still smell nice," she agreed and stepped away from him, her hand slowly sliding from his. She walked away to the center of the clearing and spun around once, her arms out and wings swirling a bit around her.
"I love nights like this, when the world is warming and the flowers bloom," she sighed and looked over to Nightwing, smiling.
"What do you think?"

He nodded to her, words still a bit awkwardly stuck in his throat. As her hand slid from his, his blue eyes narrowed and watched her spin in the moonlight. Her wings teased the flowers into releasing more of their rich fragrance and he inhaled with a soft sigh.
"So very beautiful..." He murmured before running his claws through his hair and trying to get a grip on himself. Having a female friend was going to be a bit more work then he had anticipated, but it was worth it.
He looked back to her and smiled "The night...the night is so very beautiful. I much prefer the warm to the cold."

Maura smiled and nodded. Her gaze slowly rose to the clear sky and held there for a moment, her face showing a look of quite thought, consideration. And then she looked back at him, tilting her head and giving him a questioning look.
"Would you like to go flying with me? I have patrolling tonight but I wouldn't mind the company," she asked, her hand fiddling a bit with her belt, hidden beneath her wings. She wasn't nervous... just anxious to know if he liked her company enough to want to come with her on a mundane task.

He smiled and spread his wings wide happily moving to grab her hand. "Of course, lets go, besides if we spot trouble two heads will be better then one!" He was eager to take to the skies with Maura, it would be interesting to see if the soothing sensation followed her even in the clouds.
He looked around uncertain if they could catch a current from this spot, his eyes scanned the trees around them. "Lead the way..." He nodded to her slowly releasing her hand.

Maura's smile narrowed her eyes slightly, his enthusiasm quite amusing. She let him take her hand and nodded.
"That's a very good point. I'm not really known for my strength." In fact, she was actually quite weak in comparison to most gargoyles. But what she lacked in strength, she made up for in agility, speed, and fervor.
"We can't get a good current here, but there are some cliffs not too far away. I usually run to them and take off from there," she replied with a nod.
"Follow me," she added, squeezed his hand once before letting go, and leaped into a long, fast lope towards the lake. The air currents weren't the strongest over the lake, but there was a place near the falls that was just high enough.

"Well I may not be the very strongest male around, but I can keep watch and protect your back. " He nodded and followed after her keeping pace beside her and keeping his wings tucked against his back to prevent them from flapping about. His blue eyes scanned about and he wondered where she planned to take off from.
He glanced over the lake wondering before he spotted the waterfall and looked at her curiously. He had never thought to try and take off from such a spot, but this was sure to be fun. With renewed enthusiasm he raced ahead chuckling, someday he would have to come back just to dive into the water.

Maura skirted the edge of the land, the great lake to their side. As soon as she got to the point at which she normally took off from, she looked to him and grinned.
"Ready?" she called and veered off the side before he could answer, taking it at a leap, her wings spreading and catching the rush of air and the soft lift of the wind, sending her soaring a fair distance above the waters. She glanced over her shoulder to see if Nightwing was still with her.

Nightwing grinned and followed her, his powerful wings caught the air and he twirled around her with a joyful laugh. "Isn't this marvelous!" He swooped above her and rode the current along with her his wings catching the wind and keeping him steady.
He gazed down at Maura pleased to be with her, he felt calm yet his eyes darted about ensuring that they were safe. After all he knew that the entire purpose was to patrol, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy it.

Maura watched him fly around her, smiling at his enjoyment.
"It is!" she called back, twirling once herself, and then catching a strong updraft that sent her higher up into the night sky. They finally flew back over the ground and she turned her attention to the forest below. Nothing of note so far. Everything look fine and dandy.
She was a graceful flier, a thing she put what little pride she had in. It was a smooth flight, her slightly long hair trailing out behind her like the waves of the sea under the moon above them.

"I could accompany you more often if you would like you know, it's quite nice having someone to glide with." He swooped down a bit to fly beside her looking down and scanning the ground as it passed beneath them. His tail moved like an extra rudder helping him sail through the skies.
"It seems tonight is trouble free, would that every evening could be peaceful." He murmured and flexed his claws.
