Ok, I'm hoping this is being posted in the right place. sweatdrop
So, just over a year ago I had a rather messy falling out with someone very special to me. At the time it was extremely nasty but slowly got easier to cope with.
Anyway, despite what I've told everyone about being over it, this person still pops into my head on occasion and it makes me sad about what happened. Just out of the blue, like I'll be watching TV or something and I'll just sorta accidentally think about it and I find myself moping a bit and missing them.
It just seems so silly. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it usually takes to get over things like this. Also, if anyone knows any strategies for stopping yourself from thinking about people/things you shouldn't.
Thanks for taking the time to read. heart

I've sort of had a thing like this happen to me. I took me awhile to get over it. But i dont think there's any set amount of time. Its a personal thing. I thought i was over it but then after talking to a friend i realized i wasn't, and talking to her helped me to i think finally put it behind me.

It just depends. Sometimes it happens rather quickly, other times it can take a lifetime.

It just depends.

I disagree with Tasty. It can and will go away, but you have to be willing to let it go.
Learning to do so, or finding your own way, yes of course takes time.
My sister-in-law once said it takes twice as long to get over them that you have been together, before the break up.
....In my case I was looking at 6 years with my break up. But, I eventually found the right guy within two of the official break up and am now happily married. As it was stated above, the girl had a friend that helped her through it. Some of us can get over it alone, some cannot. Either way, it's a learning experience and a trail for us all.
Give yourself more time, and know that it's okay. And if you got true friends, stick by them. If you're more of an introvert on these kind of things, do what you got to do with that.
