Zach grinned as he practically bounced through the mall - heading for Shinjuku Bathhouse. He always loved coming here from time to time, whenever he felt like actually soaking, instead of just grabbing a quick shower in his room.

And today was one of those days. He'd spent a while earlier just jogging around campus randomly... and though he wasn't really particularly tired now, he would welcome a long and relaxing soak in the baths.

Padding through the outer doors, he waved cheerfully to the girl at the desk and then headed for the male baths, taking off his clothes and grabbing towels and such before slipping inside and lowering himself happily into an unoccupied corner of the bath.

Micajah made his way to the bathhouse only a little after Zach had made his way in, hoping this time he would actually get a nice soak and a chance to be alone, and as he politely nodded to the girls he wondered that their girlish giggling and pointing was all about. It wasn't like he was wearing anything odd, just his normal clothing with nothing fancy in his hair, so he chose to ignore it.

He made his way into the baths and quickly undressed himself, taking time move over to where he could get a good scrub. Even though the baths at the dorms were more than enough for him to get clean with, somethings the youth liked sitting in a larger area and just washing until he felt like his skin would peel off.

Thankfully when he entered Zach had already descended into a tub and was out of his sight, otherwise the blond would have quickly left and just not come back in, so when the coast was assumed to be clear he moved in and took a seat in front of one of the spigots. He turned the water on, letting it get nice and warm, before he started to hum as he lathered his loofa.

Zach was fairly quick to notice the sounds the other was making, though - and turned around to see who else had come in.

Then he gasped softly at seeing Mica's back - even before he recognized who it was. What in the... what had happened to him? Had those always been there?

Micajah suddenly turned at the gasps, his face moved into an expression of shock and anger combined with something akin to fear, and he scanned the area for a moment before his eyes fell on to Zach sitting a few feet away in the soaking tub.

Oh. That explains the giggles.

His cheeks turned red and he quickly moved so his back was fully into Zach's line of sight again, his hands moving so they crossed his arms and held onto the opposite sides. It seemed to draw him in closer, only serving to make the scar that decorated his back even larger.

"Hello Zachery. I never thought I'd see you again, much less in a place like this."

It really had been over a year since the pair had first met and become 'friends' of sorts, and now that Micajah was entirely in Magic it didn't surprise him that he hadn't seen the boy in that long of a time. Here at SSoS it seemed like meeting someone again was something of a rarity.

Zach cut off the noise and kind of flinched slightly at the shock on the other's face that he saw for a moment. And then the way he was holding himself ... like he might fall apart at any second.

Carefully, Zach stood up and moved a bit closer - though hopefully not close. "Yea..." he said softly, "It is kind of an odd place to meet."

He felt more than a bit awkward now - wanting to ask about the scar, but not quite knowing how to do so without making Mica even more upset.

Inwardly Micajah was dying that someone was coming closer to him while he was naked, not caring that the other person may or may not be naked (he didn't want to think about it), but he could only force out polite words and a smile as he turned his head this time to look over at Zach.

He kept his eyes on the other boy's face at all times, threatening to cut his own wrists should his eyes even pretend to wander.

"It really is. I seldom come here unless I'm feeling pretty dirty from school and life, and considering the things I've been working on lately I felt a good scrub was in order."

He moved his hands away from how they'd been, no use in trying to be modest anymore now that Zach had taken the moves to get closer, and he subconsciously moved his hand to touch the scar that started at his hip.

"How've you been? I haven't seen many of my basic friends since I moved into the Magic School. . ."

He hadn't really seen any of his 'older' friends, period.

"I've been all right," he replied, stopping where he was when it was fairly obvious that Mica wasn't comfortable. He smiled faintly. "I never did manage to capture an elf, though I've spoken to a few by now..."

He shook his head, remembering that silly plan of theirs. It had sounded fun at the time, right?

"I guess you get to see them all the time now, huh?" he asked then, tilting head a little. Maybe if he just ah. Started with easier questions... he could get the other to relax a little.

"Actually, I haven't seen that many elves at all. It's like they've all left the school and have been replaced by demon instructors instead."

Which was very true, considering he hadn't seen any elves at all lately, not even a single one at the open house. All humans and demons know, and it made the youth wonder if something was going down that elves knew about but the humans did not . . .

"It's good to see you're doing well though. Are you enjoying your classes at all? I remember taking the Basics and thinking they were a little on the tough side, but I had no idea how they would compare to Magic lessons."

He shivered slightly at the thought, Micajah's body tired from all the work he'd been pouring into his studies lately, and quickly the weary look was replaced with a smile.

"It's been worth it though - the rooms are really different from the Basic dorms. My room is warded and really nice."

Zach nodded at that, rocking back and forth a little on his heels. It was a bit chilly out of the water - not too much because of the steam, but a little.

He, too, had noticed the odd lack of elves lately, but didn't say anything about it for the moment.

"Eh... classes are classes. They're okay, I guess. I just have to like... make myself get through these so I can move on," he replied with a kind of lopsided smile.

He hesitated for just a moment then, and glanced back over his shoulder at the water. "D'you ... want to get in? It's warmer there," he pointed out - mistakenly thinking the other boy's shiver was for the cooler temperature.

"Hm sure...but you go in first. I'm a little touchy about others really seeing my nude body, sorry. I know if I'm that way I should bathe at the dorms, but a good scrub is what I need now and then."

It was mostly a modesty issue on the part of nudity, but Micajah was also a little ashamed of his scar. It was a mark gained through stupidity, pure and simple, and not really something he wanted to talk about. Though he knew it would come up pretty soon.

Anyone who would see such a big scar could only naturally be interested in it.

Zach nodded easily at that, though, and moved to slip back into the water. "I don't mind. And if you'd rather I didn't ask questions I won't do that either."

He offered a little smile to the other. "Though I have to admit I'm curious..."

Micajah frowned at Zach's statement of curosity, though he would admit that it made him happy that someone was still wanting to learn new things about the people they knew. He supposed giving out a little information wouldn't hurt anyone, so he could tell the bare bones.

"I messed up on a magic spell and this was one of the reminders that I should not try it again. I'm pretty lucky to be alive, you know?"

The blond stepped into the water and kept a good distance from the other teen, wary.

Zach winced slightly at that. "Ah..." Made sense why the other didn't want to talk about it, then. No one liked admitting mistakes, much less going into detail about them.

Leaning back a bit, Zach let the warm water chase away the relatively cooler temperature of the room for a few minutes before saying anything else. Then he asked, "Is magic usually so ... ahm. Dangerous?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 21, 2009 3:39 pm

"Yes. Magic is something that should only be tried by those who know what they're doing, as well as those who have everything right. I was stupid to try something beyond my scope of knowledge, but in a way it helped me learn."

His finger traced the scar where he could see it, but he quickly stopped when he knew it would attract more attention to himself. This was the most he wanted to talk about everything involving the accident, even though it wasn't something he was that ashamed of.

"Are you still wanting to go into magic?"

"Yea," Zach replied with a little nod. "I mean I already knew even coming to this place that there would be danger. We're supposed to save the world and all..."

Trailing off a bit, he sighed softly. It seemed so big, this saving the world thing. And he felt like he was falling behind all the time, seeing as how several of his friends had already been promoted in the school and he was still at the basic level.

"Heh... guess maybe it's not a bad thing that I'm so slow in that case. Maybe if I learn everything there is before moving up, it'll be better..." he mused quietly.
