Gravel crunched and pebbled rattled as large paws padded over the sloping bank of the Sister river, heading up from the water to the rough caves that dotted the tall, tiered cliff face. The largest cave at the base was the destination of the red lioness, her ruby eyes sliding around as she searched for her daughters.

Kiuma's children were up and about now, soft, round little cubs with a liking for mischief and play. With her older daughters taking up positions as full members of the pride as well, there was very little that could make the former Pridelander happier than she was now. Even the slight loneliness and isolation she sometimes felt couldn't darken the joy she found here. So what if she didn't have a mate, a partner or consort to share her joy with? She had her daughters, and that was worth more than the special tie of heart to heart she had once thought she'd found. Now she wondered if such a thing was only an illusion...

The feel of shadow sliding over her fur broke her out of her thoughts and she blinked to adjust her eyes to the semi-darkness after the bright noon light outside. The ground was clear of pebbles here, swept out carefully to clear the cool stone for sleeping and lounging, a main community den she shared with her newest litter and those that wished to join them.

Urudja Yawned as she uncurled from her spot in the sun, she'd wandered off to explore her mothers lands early in the morning but had soon gotten tired, so she'd given in to the feelings of sleep. She stretched her small limbs and looked around, wrinkling her nose. She was bored, but not discontent with the day. Napping was always important, and now she had energy to find her sisters or her mother! She could use a bit of rough and tumble, or just family time.

She moved over the land in an awkward gait, sometimes running and sometimes walking. Often she would pounce when she spotted a bug or stop and backtrack to sniff at something unfamiliar. After a while she came to the Sister river, a small purr rumbling from her little body. She carefully made her way to the bank and leaned forward, lapping up some of the cool water rushing past. Her gaze floated up the slope, and she spotted just the tail end of a red lioness! Her expression brightened as she started to move toward one of the largest caves- her home.

Just as she was moving into the cave she squinted, suddenly stumbling into what she hoped was the back of her mother's legs. "Yipes!" She growled out, backing up and shaking her head, trying to see in the slight darkness of the cave. "Mama, found you!" She exclaimed proudly.

Kiuma blinked as something ran into her back leg, lifting it as she looked back around her shoulder at the white and red body behind her. A smile spread across her face to see one of her offspring and she turned to step out of the cool shade and join her daughter on the space before the caves.

"There you are... have you been off getting into trouble, Urudja?" The red queen chuckled, her head tilting gently as she scooped her daughter up in a paw and sat back, holding the cub to her as she bent to groom the top of her small head. Her broad pink tongue ruffled the red fur and smoothed it again, more of a comforting gesture for her than for her daughter.

There wasn't much about this one that harkened back to her father, save for the mark of wings on back and legs, and the slashes under her eyes. More, she had her mother's red, with white that made her think of her first litter. She looked rather much like her half brother, Belial. That thought made Kiuma wonder what had become of her sons from her old life... where was her unstable son now? Not that she could do much for him now... but a mother rarely forgets the lives she bore inside of her.

Urudja snorted at her mother's question, as if it was preposterous. She didn't feel she really could get into trouble; these were her mother's lands after all. "Of course not, just napping." She spoke softly but with confidence, head tilting up so she could offer Kiuma a bright smile.
