Okay, at first I would like to say that I really don't know if someone else already had the idea of this topic, but I can't remember having seen it.
Well I wanted to ask you all if you think that Dan and all the other actors fit in their roles. What I mean is not, wether you think that they can act or not, I actually want to talk about this: Do you think that Dan comes accross like Harry as you imagined him when you read the book, or do you think that Rupert really looks like Ron?
Of course you can also talk about other actors and characters... just say what you like or dislike about them^^

I think Rupert really fits in the role of Ron. Sometimes he looks just like the Ron I imagined and the way he talks is so Ron-like^^. But I think Richard Harris was "a better Dumbledore" than Michael Gambon. To me, Harris seemed much much more wise and friendy than Gambon.

I like Lucius Malfoys actor!^^ Although I don't remember his name, he really fits in his role. I mean he really does look like Lucius Malfoy!^^ But I recently saw a picture of Narcissa from movie 6 and I was a bit disappointed. Of course I can't tell yet wether I like her not as Narcissa because I haven't seen the film yet, but well... we'll see^^

Hm... Well, as to Dan, Rupert and Emma, I actually think they are quite good. Well, I think it owuld have been better if Dan's eyes had been green and Emma is sometimes a bit too blond for Hermione, but neverthless I think they are great.

The actual character would have never done that. Richard Harris had a much gentler, wiser, and definitely friendlier disposition, which is what I picture of Dumbledore.

The roles that I consider perfectly cast are: Dumbledore (Harris, the original), McGonagall, Lucius, Hagrid, Snape, and Luna. It's true that Maggie's hair should be black, Alan's nose should be bigger, and Evanna's hair ought to be longer, but besides those tiny details I can't think of anything physical or personality-wise that they fail to get across. I love how McGonagall, Snape, and Hagrid even all SOUND exactly the way I imagined.
Maybe it's not the actors' faults if the characters aren't represented correctly. It could be the director's or the script writers'. EIther way, the characters that I consider to be done the worst in the films are: Lupin, Krum, Fleur, Ginny, Bellatrix, and teenage Sirius. I know that Krum is supposed to be a somewhat aloof seventeen year-old, but he looks like a creepy assassin in his twenties. Maybe it's rude to say so, but Fleur and Ginny aren't half as pretty as the books say they ought to be. Also, Dan and the actress that plays Ginny don't have any chemisty. You know when a couple is cast correctly and you can feel the chemisty between them through the screen? Yeah, when Harry and Ginny kiss in the movies it'll just seem awkward. Teenage Sirius is supposed to be unreasonably handsome with black hair, and instead he has a brown haired afro. What the fudge? Bellatrix only had poofy hair. She didnt seem like the cruel, insane Bella that we know. I could go on-and -on about the things wrong with Remus. I certainly envisioned him to be clean-shaven despite his shabby clothes, so why did he have that odd mustache? Also, his personality was mysterious and weird instead of the pleasant politeness we know is ACTUALLY associated with Remus.
As for everyone else, including the Golden Trio, I think that they do the personalities well even if they don't look the part. Emma isn't bushy-haired as Hermione ought to be, though that's the fault of the people in charge of costume and make-up, not Emma. The twins are too attractive (They should be short and stocky.) but I'm not complaining about them. Yum!

I absolutely love some of the actors in the movies as the characters that they play! Alan Rickman as Snape is absolutely PERFECT! His voice is just how I imagined it! So nasally and sinister sounding... And of course Evanna's role of Luna can never be left out! She does an awesome job! I love her voice too. Its so whispery and floaty... It makes it even better that she was simply a huge fan when she tried out! Not like Felton who didn't even read an HP book until they were shooting PoA! *shudder*

Minerva, I agree with every single thing you said. Evanna Lynch, Alan Rickman, Jason Isaacs, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, and the one dude who plays Hagrid (his name eludes me...) are all my perfect envisions of their characters, and do a fabulous job with their acting. Bellatrix and Remus are my least favorite casting choices. Although I love David Thewlis as an actor, he doesn't fit the role of Remus at all. Bellatrix, to me, just looked pathetic, not scary or evil in the least bit. Ginny was okay in the first and second movies (she's suppose to look young and innocent), but later on, she still has that all-too innocent look that Ginny is supposed to lose as she gets older. I agree with what you said about Krum, and that they could have done much better while casting, but I wouldn't say he's one of the worst choices in actors. And, quite frankly, teenage Sirius in the movies scares me. o__o

sablewong Harry bothered me. Darn it, all he needed was some contacts! When filming the first movie they had Dan put in green contacts, but they irritated his eyes and made them water, so they decided to do the films without him wearing contacts.
Vyalia, I like David Thewlis too. He's in Timeline, which is one of my favourite movies. But he isn't a good Remus Lupin. Actually, I've been trying to think of an actor that I would choose to play Remus, and I can't think of anyone.

Then they didn't get ther right pair, I mean there are a good many types of contacts. I liked the actor who played Bellatrix, but she didn't do as well as I thought she would.

[zayna=amazing]I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Rupert as Ron. <3 Then again I love love love love Rupert in general. redface
Dan does alright as Harry. In all honesty I don't remember how I imagined Harry before the movies (both started so long ago) but I think he does well.
Emma is amazing c: I love her as Hermione, I think she captures her essence very well throughout the entire series!
And I definitely agree with you on Dumbledore/ Harris/Gambon. neutral [/zayna]

One of the things I was dissapointed about when I went to see the first movie... was how tame Dan's hair was. It's supposed to be messy and never lie flat. I think the Dursleys were cast perfectly biggrin

.:Go Click These Now:. Rupert's just awesome, I love when he trembles, like in the second film, when talking to Aragog about the basilisk, and they're surrounded by tons of spiders. I love his hair too. Daniel actually is kinda cool, like he was being described in the novel. And Emma is awesome at Hermione, with her know-it-all tone. xD

Actually, I've been trying to think of an actor that I would choose to play Remus, and I can't think of anyone. In music class in eighth grade, I had a substitute that looked so much how I envisioned Remus that it blew me away. I couldn't stop staring at him; I think I scared him a little. xD If only he were an actor... *sigh*
