Harmony's gaze swept over the barren landscape. It was as cold as her heart, but somehow, she knew that the warmth would return soon, as the ice in her heart was melting slowly. She desperately needed someone to talk to, someone who understood her.
Padam sat in the middle of the clearing, rather content with the snow. Unlike his siblings, he despised the warm months. Fall was all right, but Winter was the most relaxing. Fall left behind such hopeless corpses, and Padam found their sad state rather beautiful.
Sighing heavily, Harmony turned to leave the hill she was seated upon, but a speck of color caught her eye. It was another namir, but she wasn't in the most sociable mood. Making a snap decision, she altered her course so that she was heading towards the other namir.
Padam flicked an ear, as he saw a spot of orange against all the white. He screwed his face up and squinted, thinking that this spot of orange looked familiar.
As she drew closer, Harmony realized that she had met the spot of color before, and as she reflected, became surprised to see that it was someone who annoyed the heck out of her. "Padam?" she asked, shocked.
Padam raised an eyebrow and let out a lazy sigh. "Oh...it's you." He said, rolling his eyes, "Whatshername."
"Even I managed to remember your name," Harmony hissed, her eyes narrowing. She glared at him, mustering all the frustration into her gaze. "Why are you out here, anywhere?"
He shrugged, "Hey, what can I say? I'm forgetful. It's hereditary." He smirked, "I'm enjoying the scenery, little girl. What are you doing out here?"
Still muttering to herself, Harmony stared back into the ground. "What scenery? It's all white. And my reason is none of your buisness."
Padam glared, "It's still something to look at, isn't it? And you made me tell my reason, even though it was none of your business. So tell me yours."
"Sure, sure." She glanced around quickly, trying to figure out why the landscape was so...intriguing. "You really want to know? I doubt you really care, but I needed some time alone. And it was going fine, till I saw you."
He scoffed, "Jeez, don't be so sad, Emo Kid."
Harmony couldn't imagine why this conversation was taking place, so she just shrugged and took in a deep breath. "First of all, I'm not a kid anymore. So don't treat me like one. And second, I'm not emo. Just...stressed."
Padam shook his head, "But you're still much younger than me." He sighed, "And, you ought to find a better way to get rid of stress. You're ruining my scenery."
"Of course. How old were you again? Like almost a whole year older than me?" Harmony shook her head, wondering why she happened to meet him, of all namrah. Her rebellious attitude swelled up as she replied. "I'm prefectly fine here, thank you very much. There's not much you can do about it."

Padam rolled his eyes, and scoffed, "Fine. You can stay here. Just get out of the way."
"Hooray." Harmony turned her head so that she faced away from him, and stared out across the snow again. "I can't exactly stay if I get out of the way, you know," she muttered absentmindedly.
Padam put his arms straight out, "Just don't interfere with the frame." He said, sort of making a square, "You get it?"
Harmony looked at him skeptically, as if wondering if he was a reinarnation of some ancient poet who made squares with his arms. "Of course. Not. Why is this scenery so important to you, anyway?" Her teeth chattered a little. Sarcasm was difficult when the weather was subzero.
Padam shrugged, "It gives me something partially decent to look at, everything around me is so ugly." He looked at her.
Harmony pretended to look shocked. "Oh no, am I that ugly?" she asked with mock horror.
Padam shook his head, "No. Not physically, you aren't. But deep down you are just, truly truly sick. Just sick."
"Hmm. Does this 'sickness' have a cure?" Harmony was a bit stung by his words, but she sure wasn't going to show it.
Padam smirked, "Nope." He said, "A sick person is always, deep down, a sick person."
"Sure..." Harmony rolled her eyes, now totally convinced that Padam had somehow escaped from a mental institute. "Now, tell me, would you be a sick person?"
"Yes, yes I am." He said, "I'm a terrible, sick person from a terrible, sick family." He grinned, "Is your family terrible and sick?"
"Of course not!" She was a bit offended at the question, but dismissed it as a quirk in his genes. "My family is wonderful. They're normal, and absolutely not sick."
Padam thought for a moment, "Huh. You little wonder child."
Harmony scoffed. "What, you never experienced a childhood or something?"
Padam shook his head, "Not really." He sighed, "Though my father tried, he was always busy with other things, that, and my mom had pretty much left him by the time I was born."
"Oh. That's...not good." Harmony struggled to find words to match her feelings, but she didn't want to give in and pity him. "Do you want me to sympathize or something?"

"Oh, no, not at all." He said, "But now you've gained knowledge. Maybe the smarter you get the more tolerable you'll be."
Heaving an invisible sigh of relief, Harmony turned to look back at him. "Does that mean I'm more tolerable now?" She grinned sheepishly at him. "I'd hate to be so stupid."
