Anyone care to explain how this is possible?

My great uncle died two days before Christmas and the night he died (before my mother knew) my grandfather (father's father) called her cellphone. He left no message, nothing, just his number showed up.

Problem is, my grandfather is dead.

She's not lying either, his number really is on the phone, his house doesn't even belong to the family.

The night that he died, my mother said she saw him in front of her and she told my father and I to go to the hospital and to call the priest, when we got there he died within minutes of us being in his room.

What does Judaism say about ghosts?

I've personally seen my parents moping around, so I don't doubt that story.

This is what Judaism has to say about ghosts:

We believe ghosts do exist, but we shouldn't try to talk to them. Many are not aware that ghost attachment and possession is in the Old Testament. Two occurrences are found in I Samuel 18:10, where King Saul is vexed by a bad spirit; and I Kings 22:20-23 where the prophets are possessed by the lying spirit of a man to trick the King into war.

That's all I can remember right now, I hope that helps!

Basically what SD said.

The cellphone thingy can be explained, I can't remember the explanation but I know it isn't supernatural.

I've seen a ghost or what paranormal investigators call 'Shadow People'.
My sister, a childhood friend, and I were running up the stairs at my old house. I was about to reach the last step when this big black mass rushed past us into my mom's room.
All of us saw it and we freaked out.
We knew it wasn't a shadow from outside because it was solid black and it made a WHOOSH noise when it passed.
When we went in to my mom's room no one was in there.
Defied explanation.

When my Dad died, the night of the funeral, my brother was at my Grandmother's house in Quebec, and My little brothers and I were at our Aunt's house in Ontario.

The doorbell kept ringing but nobody was there. At my Grandmother's housethe microwave would turn on by itself. The next day when we went outside, in black marker was written "Why won't my family let me in" in Hebrew at both houses.

I was creeped out.

All of my family have felt, at some time or other, the presence of my grandmother. My aunt says she spoke with her, my dad has felt her sat near him a few times, and I could feel her next to me at the funeral. I haven't asked my grandfather because I don't want him to get depressed over her death.

I'm happy about it, though. She spent 20 years with sticks for legs, stuck in bed and in constant pain. She's free of that now, and can do whatever the hell she wants.

Woah...I was just sitting here and I felt something on my shoulder and I saw my mom.

O.o....and then she said "Everything will be okay, Wynter..." and faded away.
Now I'm creeped out.

I'd like to say that it was your imagination but I have know way of knowing that. Your explanation is possible.

Ghosts, demons, spirits, elves, vampires, and so forth are very real. Demons, and the like live in a different dimension parallel to ours. Elves, sprits, and so forth don't like being seen by us, and the only way for us to see them is to use infared, and other parts of the light spectrum. Watch Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, True Destination, Ghost Adventures, and so forth. They use science to debunk as much as possible everything they see. What is left that cannot be debunked is all real.

Let me just say that when I was on my spiritual journey I researched the occult and paganism a lot.
I was mostly interested in the 'Fairy Faith', since I feel deeply connected with the British Isles and its folklore.
The Fairy Faith is believing in and feeling connected to the Other Folk, or the nature spirits and fairies that inhabit nature.
They're not like the Tinker Bell fairies that we're accustomed to, they're more like short, ugly people to raging dragons.
It's truly amazing stuff if you read into as far as I have.
I get shivers when I read and watch clips of old Irish men describing the fairies from way back when.

I had some experiences but they're a bit unbelievable.
What drew me away from the whole philosophy were the New Age Mommas and the wild eyed gurus who said they could sit down and chat with them.
They totally weirded me out and they tended to describe rainbow creatures which went against what countrymen said they experienced before the vast industrialization of their homes.
Anyone with a brain who's researched this field of belief knows that the fairies hate humans (most of the time) and it's crazy to try to contact them.

I've got a lot of clips if you're interested in watching them... <_<

I mean no offense to anybody when I say this, but I don't believe in ghosts. "Near-death" experiences have been scientifically proven to be caused by the brain trying to interpret a bunch of random brain waves and sensations when the heart wasn't technically beating or something- I see no reason why the supernatural is any different.

Yeah, tell that to a dude who can see them and has been checked out by a psychologist and has been told he is a normal person. Also there is more scientific evidence out there that shows it's all real then evidence that says it is fake.

And here is an example of life after death. At the end of my grandmas Shiva (the first 7 days of morning), we had a brunch in her honor. I was not really hungry so I did not eat. That night I went to sleep surrounded and covered in fluffy comfy cushions. I dreamed that my grandma was screaming at me in spanish and hitting me on the head with a rolling pin.

I wake up later on around 10am. My head hurts, there are a total of 10 lumps on my head, and my ears are ringing. There was no music or noise of any kind while I slept. And I did not fall and hit my head on the floor 10 times.

My grandma came back and wacked me in the head with a rolling pin while I was sleeping. Simple as that.

Do not piss off a Spanish grandma. Alive or dead, since they never trully die.

Zumbi, it's really difficult to convince a person who doesn't believe in the supernatural to be a believer.
They normally don't buy into personal experiences.
I think logically and buy into science a lot but I have had so many supernatural experiences, and so have my family, that we believe that there's something out there.

What gets me as how a deeply religious person doesn't believe in ghosts and such.
There's nothing in any of the Abrahamic religions that discourage the beliefs.
I'm pretty sure one of the Mitzvahs is to not be superstitious but I always lay that down as "Don't believe that if you step on a crack you'll break your mother's back" kind of deal.
If there are angels and demons then I believe there's something in between.
