{PRP between PrincessEv's Adriel & Trelweny's Niamh. Please do not post without permission!} It had been a long week for Adriel. Perhaps because happiness was not in the cards for him that week, or perhaps it was because the little kyun really had no friends outside the family. Either way, he just had to get out of the house.
Though the weather was almost icy, it was nothing the little frosted ash kyunru/kyuria could not handle. He wondered if it would snow and be as white as his little horn, parts of his pelt, and his thick, silky hair. Snow was his favorite weather after all, and it was cold enough so it would stick. Hopefully.
As he got closer to the incense shop, he felt the weather quickly dropping. He had felt cold in his short life (obviously, as he enjoyed it so much), but nothing like this. Making his way up to the door, he found a note attached to it.
Closed while I am away. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
Paper
Sighing, he turned away and headed back toward his home. Laa Kaza, Imriel, and Twilight must have also gone with her, as usually even if she was gone the shop remained open. What a bummer for him, seeing as home was the only place to go now, with nothing to do. Grabbing a stick, he lit it using the fire lighting an urn by the door. The 'firestick' (as he called it) would not only keep him warm, but light his way if the sky grew dark early.
About halfway home, he stopped in an empty field to rest. He placed the firestick on a bunch of other logs that appeared to have been set on fire before, taking a step back afterward to watch it flicker in the wind. Plopping down, he laid his head on his paws much like a cat would, snow white hair either blowing in the wind like spider webs or laying elegantly over his shoulders. Though Adriel would have to worry about putting it out, right now he just let the fire burn for warmth as its reflection sparkled in his eyes.

Oh, she was going to hear it for sure when she got home. If she got home. The little fae peacock-dragon shivered in the cold wind. Her dragon blood liked warm things. Niamh loved snow... but this... this was far too cold.
She had been given permission to visit the shop on her own -finally. But it had been closed when she got there and the snow and wind had blown her about until Niamh had lost her direction and no longer knew if she was heading towards Bass'ken Lake at all. It seemed she should have been there by now. oh she was so going to be in trouble.
Though truthfully... Niamh knew her mother would never yell at her. Instead Keyna would look at her daughter with those brown eyes of hers large and sad with worry and disappointment. That was almost worse than being yelled at -hurting and disappointing her mother. And father... well if he was over instead of with DFA he would probably give her a stern talking to in his ancient and wise voice, lecturing her on how worried she had made her parents. Dida Trel (Niamh had taken up the young cait's way of talking about their human) would be sad and worried as well. And the others...? Aiden would not yell at her but maybe the GaiaCon Myranda or the grouchy SeeD security...
Niamh whimpered to herself softly, so caught up in worrying and the fear of being lost in such snow that she did not think about the communicator/locator she wore deep inside her right ear.
Pressing her bunny ears close to her head and squeezing her eyes tight as she could against the wind and making herself small as she was able the bright-eyed ball of green-blue pushed herself forward. Maybe the lake was just ahead. Then beyond that would be the woods and her home... where someone would make her hot cocoa and she could curl up by a fire and watch the snowfall while reading a book.
But... this was an adventure, right? And that's what she wanted: an adventure. Right? Only... why did it have to be so cold?
Giving a sneeze Niamh nearly fell face first into a snowdrift. Her eyes fluttered wide and in that moment she saw something bright. Yellow-orange, like the flames in the fireplaces at home. Hope swelled. Maybe there was warmth there!
Shining blue eyes bright she raced across the snow keeping the light in sight as it grew closer and closer. She did not know that what she was mistaking for a dark stone or other such thing touched with snow was actually another baby kyunru like herself.

One second Adriel had been basking in the warmth, alone, and in the next he found himself smashed to the ground under the weight of...something. Eyes moving upward, they met the blue eyes of someone somewhat similar to himself.
"Um, excuse me miss," he said softly and in a voice somewhat silenced by the ground. "I don't mind your company, but could I have my space?" Though it sounded rude, in fact he meant it in a very nice way. He wanted her company and a friend to be able to talk with. ...And she must have felt the same, because she moved next to him. In this time, Adriel took note of all of the kyunru's features.
Her hair had two peacock feathers, as did the end of her long, slender tail. She had pretty butterfly wings (like his mother), but they, too, were green. In fact, her pelt and hair were mostly green and blue, with parts that were orange and white. She looked very smart, but perhaps it was the effect of her large ears and antennas. In truth, he found her very beautiful. So beautiful, that when he found her shivering slightly, he moved next to her to keep the female warm. It was something his father would do -and had done in his past-, though in Adriel's defense, it was 50% out of kindness and 50% being flirtatious.
"My apologies if I sounded rude earlier. I'm still studying English." A bright, warm smile fell over his lips and he could not help but chuckle a little. Nudging her softly with his horn, he hoped he would better obtain her attention. After all, her attention was worth having. "Excuse me, but I don't think I told you my name." He held a paw out to her, as if to hold or shake her own paw. "The name is Adriel. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss...?"

Niamh almost cried as she tripped, feeling the cold snow touch and cling to parts of her that had seemed almost warm -and then she yipped softly, scrambling and tumbling backwards in the snow at the voice, realizing it was not a stone but something living. Someone alive and with two toned eyes that were looking at her. She shook in shyness, terrified. Doubly so, for not only out of shyness but grief that she had been rude.
Her voice left her. Shining soft blue eyes stared at the other kyunru wide-eyed beneath feathers that were touched with flakes of snow that did not melt. A long ear flicked, removing at least the clinging snow from it but all elsewhere on her small body tiny flakes adorned the edges of hair or fur. She looked at the other, not sure what to do. He seemed safe enough. That he was gray and white like her uncle and aunt helped. Darker gray than Uncle Gabriel but he seemed... softer somehow. Maybe it was the absence of metallic hair and grouchy expression.
Whatever it was, it kept the shy female from jumping or running away as he moved beside her. After that his warmth was enough to keep her there. Want as she might, her dragon blood did not care for the cold.
She did jolt a little, eyes going wider as she was poked with his horn then shook her head from side to side, showering the ground around her with the flakes that had been holding to her hair and fur at least. Those on her feathers and eyelashes were more stuck in place and refused to budge. "oh no. I'm sorry." The female started weakly, so frightened in her shyness and embarrassed by her rudeness. Hers was a quiet voice, made softer by her shyness. "I didn't mean to land on you... um... A-adriel?" She tried the name out, a blush staining the white of her peacock markings a warm pink. Still blushing she put her paw in his -since that was the way he was greeting- and blushed even deeper though she did not take her eyes from him. Her father's teaching always look in the eyes. Also it was her father's teaching that had her speaking, not using the more comfortable mental communication kyunru were naturally gifted with. "Niamh. Daughter of Fafnir and Keyna."
She was half dragon. It seemed proper to spout her lineage. That at least did not embarrass her.

With her paw in his, he listened to everything she had to say before somewhat shaking it as a human would. Though he thought about kissing it, that was a move he was not ready to make yet. It was something that he probably would regret later, but more than likely it would not have mattered, anyway. Adriel knew this was not his girlfriend after all, but a girl he had just met. Her shyness made the half fuzzball want to reach out, hug her, and tell her everything would be OK and that he did not bite. Well...for the most part.
When she listed out her name and then her parents, a light began to glow in the back of his head. Where did he know those names from? Shaking his head, he repeated Niamh's name much like she did for his. "N-Nia-mh...Niamh?" It was now his turn to blush, and his cheeks took the opportunity to do so. Though his English had indeed gotten much better recently, a name like that threw him off. Not that it was a bad name; in fact, Adriel liked it a lot. It has a nice ring to it he thought, smiling.
Blinking, he remembered that he still had no idea why he knew her parents names, but could not put a face to them. He wrapped his tail around hers - slightly, not too much - hoping that she would warm up to him quicker this way. To be honest, he himself was nervous. This was the first person outside of his family and home that he had really ever talked to. "Your parents names sound familiar to me, as if I have heard my Mom and Dad talk about them before. Though I could have heard it from Elizabeth and Sofia...oh, those are the two kun-kun I live with." His smile from earlier brightened despite that Liz and Fia annoyed him. Probably just because they oohed and awwed over him so often. "My mom is Sylvera, and she has wings kinda like yours." Talking about his own family, he thought, might make her open up and describe hers. Perhaps then he would remember?
"Hers have a lot of swirls and are blackish with transparentish parts." Yes, it seemed the only way Adriel could explain them was by adding 'ish' to the end. It was something he surely picked up from the household's owner. "My brother AntheƓ has them, too, but with white parts where Mom has the blackish part. He and I have similar hair and horns, but his pelt...or fur...whatever...is um, different from mine. It's solid white." He gulped, hoping that he had not bored her to bits yet. "I look more like my Dad, I suppose. My pelt or fur color matches his. It's where I get my fluff from." With that he puffed up, his silver cross clanking against its chain, and he hoped she would move even closer to him. Though she was still shaking a bit, he could feel a warmth coming from her somewhere. It was really nice, he noted, and began to blush again. "I think because he is a kyuria, which makes me part kyunru and part kyuria." Duh, his mind mumbled, but he ignored it. "His name is Lasuk, by the way."
By now he figured he had to have killed her by being so boring, but to his surprise, she was still breathing and that inner warmth wafting off of her was still there. Tilting his head slightly (like everyone in his family/household did when they were curious), he figured if she was going to talk about her family, now would be the time. "So, can you describe your family to me? You seem nice, surely your family has to be that way, too."
Maybe if she could stand hearing about his family, she would not mind hearing about his hobbies, too. Perhaps she would have some interesting ones of her own. He'd love to hear them.

She contemplated the paw shake, trying to not look surprised by it, knowing it was something two leggers and those that had opposable thumbs tended to do rather than creatures such as themselves. Rabbit ears flicked worriedly. Was her name difficult? No one at home seemed to have a problem with it... but then they knew her. If a single one of them but them older than her had problems with it they would have gotten over it before she herself was aware enough to notice. Mother was too proper to mention past things like that. But then... there were kitsu kits hatched after her all around... not that she saw them often. The Lupins and Lupin-Elrics more than any others, as they tended to almost live in the home's great library. Keyna told her it had been the kitsu wizard's addition to their home when he was old enough and the magic users of the family had come together to create the magic door so there would be room for them all. But all that... was her frightened and over-read mind running away from the situation. She wanted adventure, right? And this kyunru -Adriel- was kindly offering both his warmth and his fire's. At least not withholding the fire from her. So Niamh pulled her thoughts back.
Her shining blue eyes displayed a little of her surprise that her parents might be known but she almost smiled at the mention of kunkun. Yes... if a kun knew of her parents than it was quite likely they had been talked of. If their own Tien was of any example. She listened quietly, trying to discover if she knew anything of the kyunru who were his parents by description. Her parents did not often talk of other kyunru besides family, and though Tien did the kun was hard to follow. Instead Niamh was trying to recall if the cait Locke had mentioned either when her ears perked up at the word 'kyuria' and her head and eyes turned to look at Adriel in a different light.
As the other turned his speech into question though the female blushed, realizing she had rudely been staring in a way that was not simply the courtesy of keeping eye-contact. "I'm sorry." She apologized quickly, trying to undo the impoliteness of her stare but now finding it hard to reach his eyes so looked instead at the snow for a moment. "Uncle Bellar.... He's a kyuria. I'd only heard of one who found a mate and thought he had changed colors when it happened -he was no longer pure white like Uncle Bellar and the others." A little confusion... that mating had been around the time of her parents' mating and she was sure the kyuria had turned some sort of rainbow colors. Save for his eyes and sparkly necklace Adriel had no such color. But then... though she had heard the name Lasuk from her uncle's list of 'brothers' she was not certain he was the one whose young were her age.
She shifted to be closer to him, for the warmth. Surely describing her family in repayment for his body heat would be no bad thing. "Mother is soft and beautiful with brown eyes like a doe. Her face markings were passed to me, though not as bold as her own. I have her wings too, and something of her hair though mine's no where near as long or lustrous. Her ears are larger and softer and lined with white. She also has three lovely silken tails that meld into peacock feathers at the ends."
"I have father's eyes, while my sister's favor mother's. Father is a dragon kyunru -the first I believe. At least that was known in Gaia. He's older even than mother, but younger than Twilight. He's a softer blue, and slick rather than fury. He has horns & long whiskers that tickle." Thinking of that Naimh gave a light giggle.
Talking about her family was easier than she thought.

Her family certainly sounded interesting. It seemed she had an uncle similar to the way his father was before he was born: solid white. Perhaps that was where AntheƓ got his pelt color from. It certainly was a possibility (not to mention his mom being what she called a 'unicorn spirit', whatever that meant). Adriel took note that Niamh's mom sounded just as elegant as his own, though much more colorful. He also caught that she had a sister, and a father who was a dragon kyunru. When he heard this, his eyes went wide.
Many thoughts ran through his head. What if he wants his daughter not talking to boys? What if he's mean? Do I need to get her home in time? Though these were things a boyfriend should be worried about with his girlfriend's dad, Adriel did not want any trouble from a dragon. He wondered if Fafnir could blow out fire like the dragons of human legend, but he did not want to embarrass himself if in fact he did not. Perhaps this was where Naimh's inner warmth was coming from?
Blinking, he realized his eyes were still huge and that he was still staring. "I-I'm sorry," he said, looking down as if he had lost something quite valuable. So it turned out he embarrassed himself, anyway. "I've just never met a dragon, let alone someone who is HALF dragon." A light twinkled in his eyes as he wondered what all she had experienced in her life. "I bet you've been on a ton of amazing adventures with your family and your uncle! I bet your uncle...Bellar, I think...has met lots of pretty female kyunru. My dad said he was that way, but he fell in love with Mom. Then..." He grinned, looking back at Niamh, "Well, here I am. Surprise!" Of course, so was his brother, though he was probably at Dad's house sleeping.

Even had she known his silent questions, Niamh would not have been able to answer Adriel. At least not about the first one. Not realizing he was embarrassed the little femme started looking where he did to help find... well whatever it was he seemed to have lost. Maybe he had another shiny beside the cross?
She started to smile slightly, caught up by the light in Adriel's eyes. But when he spoke of adventures her ears pressed flat and her face fell. It was all Niamh could do to keep from sighing. Or worse... whimpering. At his grin she wanted to smile back, really she did, but all that came out was a weak, half-hearted thing. A sad attempt really. It was accompanied by an even sadder swish of her tail that was supposed to be a wag. She was only able to do either because she was happy in her own shy way that his parents got together and had him. It just wasn't enough to lift her from where she had sunk. Her head fell to her paws.
"Only in books..." she said sadly and very softly. All they ever did was go between father's house and her own, sometimes venturing to the ElderSpark shop. Her father was a scholarly dragon, and wise -far, far beyond his years. Like years that he had not lived collected around him making him ancient and full of their wisdom somehow. But adventuresome? No. Mother was too dainty and sweet for adventures. Perfectly content to curl up with Father and a good book as well. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Certainly not! Niamh saw well the love they shared -even if Father did sometimes treat Mother like a precious treasure to be kept and hoarded. It was only dragon nature to want to keep beautiful things and Mother was certainly beautiful -inside and out.
But she... she wanted to see the places she read about in books! Wanted to feel the wind in her face as she rode on a ship or all the other wonderful sensations spoken about on pages. But... tears filled her eyes. This little 'adventure' had not gone as planned, and it was not even that much of an adventure. Other than being her first trip on her own. Maybe she should have asked Uncle Bellar to come with her. He would not have become lost. He would protect her, as he always protected their family -with that soft look of love and longing and dedication on his face.
Now... Now she doubted she would ever be allowed outside again much less have any chance at real adventures. Some adventure: lost, tired, cold, huddled into a stranger by a fire that might go out. She had even lost track of the time. Niamh pulled her tail closer around her.

It became quite obvious quite fast that Niamh was not happy. He worried that she might be getting sick, or worse. He nuzzled her, hoping that it would lift her spirits. When it only slightly did, he sighed.
"Well," he started, putting a paw to his chin, "maybe you could go on an adventure with me. Then you could write about it and make your own book." In his mind, the idea was genius. Adriel smiled lightly at the thought of getting to read something that included himself, though it was not because he wanted his ego boosted. "Truth is, reading happens to be one of my favorite hobbies."
Standing up, he moved in front of the little half dragon half kyun and placed a paw on her head. It was gentle, and when he did so, it was almost as if he could read her mind. It was something he did not want to do. Invasion of privacy was a big no no in his book. He was sure it probably was in others, too.
"In our adventures, I'd like to learn more about phoenixes if possible." He sighed happily, thinking of their great beauty and what they stood for. He thought of reading mythologies in old libraries, undertaking quests to get there in the first place. He thought of how much more fun it would be to go with someone like Niamh.
"Do you know what a phoenix is? I'm sure you do. You seem really smart."

The unexpected nuzzle nearly jolted Niamh except that it was warm and she was still cold. In which case the little bright-eyed one after a moment leaned into the touch a little more. Tentatively.
Those bright eyes flicked to the side to watch Adriel with a bit of hope and a small flare of excitement. Adventure? With him? And write about it? When the other pup said it like that it did sound like a wonderful idea. But before she could bring herself to say anything about it her warm companion was moving, she already feeling a shiver as cold air hurriedly moved in to chill her side where Adriel's heat had warmed her. She blinked as his paw came down on her head... like someone older would do. Niamh balked somewhat. She was no more of a baby than he! She was probably older even!
If he could read her mind, let him. It was not as if she was unaccustomed to such things. Mind-speech was actually natural for Kyunru, especially when together and she did live with a strong latent telepath in the bond-human she shared with her mother. Telepathy was easy -it was her father's teachings that it was also lazy that were the reasons she spoke.
Her irritation diffused greatly at the mention of phoenixes. Her small blue-green body relaxed visibly. "The phoenix is Dida Trel's mythical totem. Mama often calls her a phoenix, as she is sometimes when her inhibitions are down." When the family needed her powers and got her drunk to lower those fears and inhibitions, but Niamh was too polite to share that with someone she just met. "So I guess you could say the phoenix is like my house's guardian spirit."
She giggled then, blushing a little at the smart compliment and not really knowing how to take it. So instead she met his eyes with her bright cold blue gaze. "Would you really want me to adventure with you?" Excited hope flashed in the nearly ice blue depths. To adventure... her secret dream.

Looking down, he saw that she was aggravated. It was not for long, however, as she quickly spoke up about some totem her family called a phoenix. Well, something like that? In any case it made Adriel very excited, and so when she asked if he would really want to go on adventures with her, he nodded like a child might when given too much sugar. "Well of course! Like I said, you seem smart and have a phoenix as a house guardian, so there must be no one I would rather adventure with than you!"
He moved down beside her again, getting close to help keep her warm. She seemed to be slightly shivering, though her inner warmth was radiating more now than before. He wondered how she could possibly be cold with a special warmth like that, but he did not ask. Maybe it was something he was never supposed to understand.
They both sat there for a moment, both must have been thinking of adventures or something of the sort. Atleast Adriel was, but the weather soon took the first in his mind. It continued to get colder, and something told him that the shop was probably just opening late due to the weather. "I think the shop may be open now," he said, standing up to kick some snow into the fire. "Would you like to come with me and think on what our first adventure will be?"

Glowing blue eyes blinked at the monochromatic male beside her. Smart she could find ways to understand why that would be a recommendation for an adventuring partner... but why her house guardian? And why 'there must be'? Why must? Niamh continued to look at him somewhat perplexed even as Adriel moved back beside her and she snuggled back into his side and the warmth he represented. The little dragon-peacock knew nothing of the heat she was emitting, but perhaps that was why she felt so cold. Perhaps the heat leaving her was making the air feel colder close to her.
It would be nice to have an adventure... where would we start? Where would we go? ... Would Father and Mother approve? Niamh was not even sure how to ask for such permission, and was lost in all her thoughts when her new friend's voice broke through, making her jolt sharply. It took a moment for her to collect her thoughts, and figure out what Adriel had & was saying.
She smiled, slowly standing and brushing snow from her legs and belly with the feather end of her long, smooth tail. The shop sounded wonderful. At least something to cut the wind so she could think... But then Niamh paused, turning her head to look at the fluffy unicorn kyunru. "But the shop is closed while Ms Paper is away."

"Well," he said, turning to move back toward the shop, "I think maybe someone else who has a key has just come in late because of all the snow." He thought about what to say next, almost as if he was not even sure himself if the trip back would be worth it. "I remember Miss Sofia telling me once that even if Paper and her close companions were away, there would be another staff member who would come in and open the shop." He turned to face her, watching to make sure she was keeping up or if her mind was lost somewhere else. "She said that because the shop is open to all, whether we have a nice warm bed at home or if we are homeless and bedless. The shop is either our home or our second home."
As they continued to the shop, getting closer with every step, he wondered of all the possibilities of Niamh. When she grew to be an adult, would she still be beautiful, warm, and smart? Would she be big and muscular instead? Surely the peacock side of her would keep her elegantly feminine? He could not help but blush, thinking how glorious she may be some day. But in truth, he was still too young to even be thinking of settling down, especially with someone whom he had just met.
Blinking suddenly, he realized that they were already to the steps of the shop, door indeed unlocked by a pretty pala and kyunru inside. Grinning, he shoved open the door, and held it for Niamh. He nodded at the pink haired pala and the pegasus kyunru, his way of saying hello, but also his thanks at coming by and unlocking the shop.

Niahm pondered this thoughtfully. It was still not sitting well in her thoughts for some reason. oh! That was it. "But I thought Miss Imriel ran ElderSpark and lived there." Her little peacock pattern ringed eyes crinkled a little. If that was so... then why had there been a note from Miss PaperGhost? Her little brow furrowed in confusion. "Miss Myranda says Miss PaperGhost never closed Turtle's Paradise while she was away. But that was different... a way-stop not a shop..."
She paused, blinking in confusion at the pink tinting her new friend's white-furred cheeks. Now what was that about? Concern flicked in her bright eyes. Maybe he had been out in the cold too long? She watched Adriel even as she stepped past him graciously through the door he held open for her. "thank you..."
A nod to those inside and a smile, waiting for Adriel to let the door close behind him. Then in concern she nuzzled his cheeks where the pink was, murring softly in her worry. "Were you out there too long, Adriel? You got all pink?" Her concern was very evident in her young voice.

As her cheek brushed up against his, he could feel them grow hotter than before. Such a pretty little thing doing such a gesture would please most Casanovas, but it appeared that although Adriel often tried to be one himself, he was still to young to fully appreciate it and ended up being slightly embarrassed.
As they walked over to some comfy looking pillows, his embarrassment continued. "Yes, you're right! I meant miss Imriel." He turned his head, hoping no one could see just how red he really was. "I remembered our household guardian was talking about Miss Paper as well as some others, and I had that on my mind when I opened my mouth." Though it was half true, the other half was him not admitting his mistake. Maybe should would not ask anymore of it and move on.
"So," he began as he got up for a book, "let's browse in here and see if we can get any adventuring ideas!" Taking it from the shelf with his mouth, he gently placed it on the floor in front of them and flipped it open with a paw. Inside was a picture of a girl chasing a white rabbit and so forth. Adriel found it quite amusing, though in his mind he knew that there were a few words he still had yet to learn. "Well this is interesting."
