I don't think it's anything to brag about. An instrument being some odd color is a nice signal that the instrument is a piece of crap. There may be a few exceptions, but I doubt it.

My clarinet teacher says that the colored clarinets are really crappy. He volunteers at a local music store and fixes clarinets, and he told me that there is a high school that uses blue and yellow clarinets because that is the school colors, and that he always has to fix them. I have a blue mouthpiece though!! I bought it just for the fun of having one!!

I hate how people keep saying that colored instruments are so crappy. It can sometimes be fixed by adjusting the instrument. My trumpet sounds like a normal trumpet after I used a plastic mouthpiece instead of the metal one that it came with.

One of the girls in our band has a blue flute with gold keys. She only plays it at games, though, cause blue and gold are the school colors.

I have a red tenor saxophone. When my BD saw it, his face was priceless. When I said "I'm getting a new saxophone" he thought I meant a regular gold one. Ha. xP

I saw this awesome sax that I really wanted. (I don't play sax, but I want to learn). It was white and ith gold keys and parts of it were sandblasted to look really cool. But I looked up the brand (cecilio, I think it was) and there were a bunch of people that said that it was a crap instument, so I decided to stick with my plain flute with the gold embousher (parden the spelling; it sucks, and has since kindergarden).
