One thing that help separate Aysel from the other village children was the games that she played with her mother, Naitzana. Many of the villages that they were to ruff and strange of a girl to play, but Naitzana never payed any attention to them. Saying that she had her reasons to do so. What Aysel didn’t realize was that Naitzana was trying to get her ready to be trained as a warrior. Naitzana was protecting a special necklace, which was either locked away or it was with her. The necklace had a special connection to the moon, which was how Aysel became fascinated with the moon. There was also a lullaby, Naitzana sang to Aysel when she was still a kid.
When Aysel was about eight years old, her whole life changed. Her parents sent her into the forest to gather berries and herbs. By the time she got back her home was engulfed in flames. She tried to home inside to find her parents, only to be stop by the villagers, who were look on. They kept her back until she fell to her knees in shock, and once the flames died down when pretty much only ash was left, did they leave to go back to there own homes and lives, leaving Aysel alone. When night fell, Aysel slowly went to her burnt down home and started searching the ashes. There was two things she needed to find out: what happened to her parent and to find the necklace. She didn’t know why, but she did know that the necklace was very important. Searching though the night, Aysel did find remains, but they were to burnt to tell who they were or even how many. With all her searching she never did find the necklace, but somehow she knew that it wasn’t burned in the fire.
Not knowing what else to do Aysel went into the village the next day. She had no idea what her future would hold, since she didn’t have any other family to go to, and no one even looked her way as she wandered around. She was able to hear what the villagers had to say about what happened yesterday. It seemed that bandits attack her home since it was on the edge of the village and an easy target. They heard fighting, before the fire started and they left at a run.
Aysel ended up live on the streets, since none of the villager were willing to take in the orphan girl. One day when she was stealing some food, she was spotted, but because of the games she played with her mother Aysel was able to get away. What she didn’t realize was that a older man, who was traveling though her village saw what happened. He question the villager about her, while he pay for what she stole awhile with buying a little more.
