I play second trumpet and I love it. I enjoy playing the harmony parts, though I'm gonna be a first trumpet now.
Which part do you like to play in band?

I like playing the part that if I forget a note its not a big deal. I play first flute cause I'm the most experienced in my band and play the best... there's four of us and two only pretend to play so its kinda up to me and this other girl to pick up their slack and its stressful.

I love my mallet parts <3 Though now that we have more percussionists that can read notes on a staff worth a damn I can play other things too. My next favorite is timpani.

I've almost always played 2nd flute, but even in the pieces that have both on 1 page, I'd rather play 2nd. After all, if the top players all have 1st, then who's going to confidently cover 2nd? Our second flutes don't usually count rests when sight reading.
The one time I looked at a 1st part, it was to a piece that I'd played 2nd for the previous year. It wasn't really that interesting, seeing as how it repeated a lot more.
By the way, we played a piece on our Holiday concert that had more on 2nd, which doesn't happen often. In fact, 1st chair thought we weren't supposed to play since 1st part had a picc solo.

I play flute, and I normally go for first part. Sometimes I switch whenever one of the other flutes want to play first, and I do bottom notes since Emily likes high notes.

I love playing the 1st trumpet part but sometimes it is fun to relax and play the baritone part at times.

I usually play the first part because I'm first chair, and I like the high notes and stuff. Sometimes if they're on the same page and I know no one has been told to play the lower notes I'll play them because I like playing the harmony part. So, I believe I prefer first part.
