-Valley of the End- Fire Country Rice Country
The valley of the end is the natural divider between the Rice Country and the Fire Country. Its a deep, lengthy and treacherous valley. The river that once flowed through this once lush valley has been cut off by the rice farmers in order to grow their crops in a more convenient location. The valley begins nice with thick brush and tall grasses, but later into the journey it becomes jagged and rocky. There is no water in the center of the valley and no signs of vegetation, which keeps some shinobi's ninjutsus unusable in such a place. The animals in the Valley show no mercy to even men that they should fear. They have become twisted angry beings.
Journey Time - 2 Days
NPC's
Beast Type: Black-backed Jackal Element Affinity: Earth Physical Description: The black-backed jackal is a speedy little devil. Its most distinguishing feature is the silver-black fur running from the back of the neck to the base of the tail. The chest and under parts are white to rusty-white, and the rest of its coat is reddish brown. They usually run in pairs that stay together for life, but will form small packs to bring down larger prey. They feed mainly on smaller rodents and animals, and love eating carrion. They will also hunt sheep and small children. Other: Jackals are quick! Stats
Beast Type: Hyena Element Affinity: Earth Physical Description: Hyenas are ugly animals, completely disproportionate. Their shoulders and necks are packed with muscles, leaving them a great source of power in the jaw but with little speed to rely on. They are scavengers, and have been known to take kills from lions, simply fighting the felines for the meat. They have dark grey-brown coats mottled with black spots, and are dirty animals that will roll around in just about anything, including their dinner! They have sharp, serrated teeth for tearing meat, since they don’t do very much hunting for themselves, instead stealing from other predators or feasting upon animals who have died a natural death. Tough and stringy, hyenas are no joke and are not to be taken lightly. Other: Hyenas smell – REALLY bad!! (Fortitude Check) Stats

On the trail heading towards the Valley a small group of farmers are gathered around carts. There's a middle-aged man, tall and skinny with hardly any hair left, a plump woman with a scrunched up face and a young lad who seems to only be about 12 years old. On the sidelines is another man with dark tanned skin and a cap on. The middle-aged man is arguing with the woman about crossing the valley to make it home early. The young boy is playing with a yo-yo idly and patting the donkey that has the cart of corn strapped to him.

Kana stood firm on the trail that snaked through the riverbed and pressed his maroon sandals into the dirt, creating a visible impression of the tread on his footwear. The young man quickly brushed it away with his foot and continued along his two companions. His multicolored eyes gazed out on the descending valley where countless unknown dangers lied, but when he looked a bit closer in front of them the young man noticed a small group of people. Kana deduced that they looked harmless enough but he would leave it up to Aya and Jonu to decide the best route of action. The Kun' Kumo boy himself was not the best at sneaking around but he knew that Jonu and Aya were both more skilled shinobi than he. He lifted his head slowly and sniffed the air, smelling something funky. Lowering his head to his own armpit he slowly sniffed the terrible smelling stench and crumpled his face in disgust. It had been a few days since he had been able to wash himself properly and he started to smell like a wet dog. Kana brushed away his auburn hair and adjusted his vest before opening his mouth and saying "Should we just continue on? They look harmless enough..."

Aya was feeling a bit tired from the long trek. They had done a lot of conditioning training back at the village, but not walks like these for days on end. Even in their mission to the Lightning Country, Kana and she were brought by boat straight to their destination. With her blue eyes staring at her feet for so long, it had taken her a moment to realize just how close they were to the valley. It was a dark valley, nothing like she had imagined... Seshiro had said it was dangerous, but that was years ago. Aya had only thought he meant dangerous for an academy student. "Huu~," Aya sighed as she also spotted the group of travelers ahead of them. Of course, the girl's natural instinct was to stop and see if the people needed help. They just looked like farmers to her, so perhaps they were debating whether or not to cross the valley... It seemed like they were set up to play escort, if they really wanted to. Leaning her head on Kana's shoulder as she thought about the pro's and con's to helping these people out, she quickly raised up her head.
"You smell," the girl said quietly, yet rather bluntly as she wrinkled up her nose that had just been hit with the pungent smell of Kana's sweat. Of course Aya was sweaty too, but she didn't smell nearly as bad as her male counterpart! "Jonu-sensei?" Aya asked, turning to the man to see what his decision would be since he was the higher ranking shinobi leading their escapade.

It had been a while since Noburo got the chance to soar above anything but seas and islands. As a result, she found she was having trouble flying as effortlessly on this dry as bone land. The winds were radically different than the soothing ocean breezes she'd grown up with and the utter lack of humidity made her feathers itch like a thousand mosquito bites. Soaring unsteadily above the others, trying to stay adrift on the sparse winds, Noburo cawed as she resisted the urge to peck at her feathers. One drifting of focus and she'd drop like a human to the hard-packed Fire Country earth. Noburo tilted her wings and fell to the ground at a breathtaking pace until she was at a position to hover a few metres above the team. Judging from Aya's reaction to her Kana, she wasn't the only one suffering. Noburo turned her head to spot a group of people in the distance going about their normal lives, or so it seemed. Shinichi always warned her about everybody and everything and whether she wanted to or not, Noburo had picked up some of his paranoia, although by no means to any extent resembling her partner's. The carts of corn could be hiding enemies watching them right now and the people could be cleverly disguised thieves just waiting to spring on them... or at least swindle them of a few Ryo. Either way, she didn't see any benefit in bothering them; The adults seemed to be in a bad mood and judging from the youth's nonchalance, she guessed that they did that a lot. Noburo dipped to float right above Jonu's shoulder and pointed a claw away from the people. The less they were seen, the better.

The captain frowned at the bird as it pointed away from the travelers and wondered if the mangy creature would have reacted the same way if it had seen him floating in the sea back when the kiddies and wild woman had saved him. Jonu believed that it was his chance to repay fate for saving him from the depths of the sea so that he could experience the magical spirit that was rooted within the youth of Shimagakure. "It's likely that they 'avn't seen us yet, young ones." With that said, the man turned to face the kids and created a plan as he began to approach Aya. "I'm afraid you be the best bait we 'ave, lassie." Jonu grinned at the girl, confident that she would handle the task better than even he would be able to. He then slowly turned his head to look at the Kun Kumo, ready and waiting to follow his lead, quite a different boy than the one who had been aboard his ship. "Kana, get yourself into some cover, close enough to assist if a fight breaks out, but far enough so them blasted enemies don't see yah if they be waitin for some prey." The man then turned his head to the animal that was perched on his shoulder, creating the cliche image of what he once was, which must have been quite an amusing sight for the children. "If ye wish to take part in this, Birdie, I'd sure love to have ye be scouting out the area in the sky, ready to strike if we need your 'elp." Finally, the man looked back down to Aya, allowing the grin on his face to widen a little. "I would like you to approach the people and ask if they need some 'elp crossing the valley. Make sure ye let 'em know it be free of charge, assure them you 'ave sufficient backup, and don't tell them how many of us there be. I will be watching your every move to make sure they don't try anything funny, but 'elping them be a risk, so 'ave your very best guard up." With that said, Jonu nodded at the team and then quickly disappeared, leaving only the bird behind.

Kana looked to Aya with a bit of a annoyed look and said "Thanks!" with as little enthusiasm as possible, but still kept a small grin on his face. It was true, he did smell a bit but nothing a little scrub in a tub wouldn't cure. Kana chuckled a bit as the large bird stooped on the pirates shoulder and gripped the dark overcoat. His bright smile turned to Aya for a moment as he giggled and nodded towards his shoulder. Kana glanced up at Jonu and nodded his head and head into the brush, but not without his own remark to Aya. "Hey, have fun bein' bait." He said just before crossing into the woods that were shaded by the large trees that infested the beginning trial. His eyes set on Noburo and he gave it a stern look whilst sticking out his tongue. The young man thought for a moment about how useful the bird would be in the mission, and decided that a look over the groups shoulders wouldn't be such a bad idea. Crouching secretively behind a lush green bush, adequately hiding himself from the group ahead, Kana watched over Aya as he knew Jonu would for both genins. Multicolored eyes followed Aya's slender figure move down the trail, simultaneously he moved ahead at her pace. His sandals easily crushed the grass beneath his feet with each silent step.

If Noburo could roll her eyes, she would have after having her advice ignored like that. Oh, well, they were the ones at risk, not her. She wondered what advantage it was to help these people, actually to help other humans in general. The only reason she could think of, especially coming from a former pirate, was that these people might pay them, but they looked poor and short on ryo. She supposed that the ship captain counted on their generosity to pay for whatever his team needed. Bah, money was such a waste. Why couldn't these humans live on their own hunting and sleep in the nice outdoors like everything else? She would never understand. Noburo took flight after swiping a gigantic claw at Kana, warning him not to get on her nerves. She was already at unease in this horridly hot and dry environment. The gyrfalcon soared high and away from the farmers to ward suspicion off her while keeping an eye on Aya. She made sure to stay close enough so that her lightning fast dives could reach the girl in case there was any trouble. Up here she wouldn't be able to hear anything, but her eyes should be able to pick up danger from the people's body language.

[omfg my post didn't post... i'm sorry guys....fjkdla;fmekal;mcvda this post is gonna suck. i posted like two or so weeks ago...]
Nodding to Jonu and smiling over at Kana, Aya proceeded as the 'bait'. "Hello!" She called out cheerfully with both hands in the air, so that she came out in a very non-threatening way. "Are you folks planning on crossing the Valley?" she asked them to break the ice. "My sensei is having us travel across the valley as well. We can provide you protection on your way through. It won't cost you anything, of course!" she added on with her cute smile. "The experience of guiding you through will be reward enough," she said humbly, bowing her white head towards them as she waited for their answer.
With her head bowed she looked around to spot her comrades in the bushes and watching her from above. Aya felt safe and truly didn't think these people would be any harm to them, but it was the shinobi way to suspect everyone. Her sensei Harada Shinichi had taught her that all too well.

The woman and the man arguing were silent for a moment before they began their hushed arguing once again, but on the current matter that presented itself. "Let them guide us," the tanned man standing off to the side said loudly. He looked over at Aya with a stern nod. The man and the woman who were arguing were silenced the moment he spoke. They were scared, so they merely nodded. "We would appreciate it," the woman added in with a slightly choked voice. She didn't feel comfortable with allowing these people on, but the man seemed to trust them. "I'm Tom. This is my wife Karu, my son Tum and my brother Haish. We're merely farmers trying to get back into the Rice Country. The army has it so locked down that we can't get back home," the man explained as he stepped slightly forward to speak with Aya and look around to see if there was anyone else with her...which he didn't see at all.

Figuring that the band of travelers seemed harmless enough, the captain stepped out from behind a few bushes and introduced himself. "Greetings, I be Sumitu Jonu, the sensei that this here lass spoke of." Jonu looked at Aya as he spoke her name and slipped her a quick wink, expressing that he was happy with how she had handled the task that had been assigned to her. He then raised his voice a little, calling out to the third member of the team. "Kana, the area be clear my boy!" Once the genin reached the group, the man would go about explaining how the team would go about escorting the caravan through the terrain. "Since this area be a little unfamiliar to us all, I figure we best take up a formation that could be ready for multiple scenarios." The man thought about how he had once taken on the job of escorting a cargo ship through dangerous waters. The fleet that had been under his command basically surrounded the ship and led it to where it needed to go. While he had never actually run into any trouble, the man felt that his fleet would have handled any enemies very well. "Aya, I'll have you walk along the left side of the group, Kana the right, and I'll take the back. We'll leave the path ahead up to the birdie." Jonu figured that even if the bird didn't plan on assisting the group, Aya and Kana would be quite capable of watching the front of the caravan in addition to the sides. The captain took the back himself since it was often the most overlooked and underestimated position in a convoy. He wondered if they would encounter any sort of hostiles on their trek to the Rice Country.

Kana watched silently as Aya bowed to the group and could only barely hear what they were saying to each other. He popped his head out of the bushes once he heard Jonu's rugged voice shouting for him. The auburn headed young man quickly made his way to the path and stood just to the right of the group awaiting orders. "As you may have heard, I am Kana." He said with a slight bow to the group of unknowns. The green and red multicolored eyes made their way to Aya and he knew that she was more than capable of watching her side. He looked to his right and scanned the trees and bushes for a moment and wondered how he could ever see anyone trailing them unless he had thermal vision or some sort of special bloodline like the Hyuuga or a Uchiha. His attention turned to the sky for a moment to see a small speck of black above them which he knew was Noburo. Kana focused ahead of them to see the path becoming a little more open and not as much brush and trees would surround them. "So you are farmers from the Rice Country?" Kana asked the group to make small talk and learn a bit more from them. The large maroon shirt drapped over his torso slowly fluttered in the wind but was ultimately constricted by his bone white vest.

A gratified smile escaped Aya's lips as Jonu sent her that wink in approval of her performance. Wanting to walk over to Kana as he came out from hiding, Aya instead was told to head to the left side of the cart. She was a little bummed that she couldn't walk next to Kana, but she would have to do as her sensei said and protect the cart. The girl wondered why Jonu hadn't asked for any sort of compensation for taking the cart safely through the valley. They were all low on money to make it here in the mainland, so it would help... "Aye!" she chirped up as she took to the left side, as she took up position and walked alongside the cart, Kana began conversation with the group. For now, the young kunoichi would keep to herself and watch the shrubs and tree tops closely while she listened to the ongoing conversation.

Kana pressed his slender fingers against his padded chest for a moment as he heard a loud clang. The mule wildly yelped and trotted away from the group just in front of Aya. The young man looked around to see the cart slouching forward with the wheels digging into the ground. He looked to Aya for a moment and gave her a small grin and nod. "I'll get the cart if you tame the mule." Kana said with a flash of his pearly whites. The young man felt a bit more chipper than he usually does, maybe because he was having a change of pace and helping not making trouble. Moving over to the cart Kana bent his knees slightly and grasped its sturdy wooden handles. Pushing upwards with his legs he brought the heavy load up a few inches but quickly set it back down. "Geez, what are you guys haulin' in here!" Kana said a bit sarcastically just before another lift. His muscles contracted in his biceps as he pulled the cart up even with his chest. The young shinobi stayed on the left side of caravan and kept a weary eye on the tree lined horizon. The Kun' Kumos' muscles quickly gave out and the cart was quickly dropped onto the dirt trail. He took a small gasp of air before looking over to the Mule.

The unforgiving sun beat down on Kana as he slouched before the cart, his rough fingers clutching the wooden handles. His auburn hair draped over his face for a moment, the slight breeze tickling his nose with the dirty but still feathery hair. The scarf worn around his neck tightened around his neck as the shinobi worked to pull the cart alongside the group whilst keeping a fairly good look out. A small blue vain bulged slightly from his average sized bicep while lifting the heavy cart. Mustering up his strength Kana pulled the handles up and tucked them under his armpits. He took a few steps forward along the trail before his grip started to slip. The extreme weight callused his hands as he pulled it down the trail and it made him wonder how the Mule could endure such great weights. It seemed as though he was granted extreme powers for a moment as he easily pulled the cart for a few excruciating feet. Setting it down for a moment he rubbed his arm and smiled a bit, thinking about the principle of overload and an old tale he once heard. A man lifted a baby cow once a day everyday while training for a great contest. Over time the cow got bigger and bigger, causing the man to gain more and more muscle. It was said that the ordinary man could lift a full grown cow above his head with ease. Kana applied this to the task at hand, he figured it would build his endurance pretty good by the end of the valley.
