Okay. So yeah. Not the greatest and what not. But yeah. So this be where Terasu originated from >.>
Freakin' bad language! Little childrenz don' need to read >.< Nope! Lots of violence too! (I mean it is FFVII after all). Other than that though, nothing too bad. Unless you're against human experimentation?
So yeah. Feedback? Areas for improvement and such would be much appreciated ^3^
------ : Awakened
‘It’s time to get up. I’ve been laying here too long. Laying where? I don’t know. I need to move though. I want to hear Zack talk again. Maybe he can tell me everything.’
“That’s right. She’ll be going into her seventh year. So, I’ve been in charge of the patient for five years now,” the doctor sat down in the chair of the small room with his cell phone up to his ear. “I know I should be happy to just have a job; but, I got assigned here thinking that they would either pull the plugs on her or that she would wake up soon. The guy who was her previous ‘care taker’ basically tried to take her out of the hospital.” He paused again and shrugged his shoulders as if the person on the other end of the phone could see him doing so. “I don’t know. Apparently the guy was talking about saving her from something or another. ‘Saving her from ShinRa.’ I don’t know. The guy was probably a wacko.”
‘Is he talking about me? Seven years? It couldn’t have possibly have been seven years.’
“Her family holding out hope? I don’t think so,” the doctor said with a sigh. “Apparently, when she first got brought here, some SOLDIER member – I think his name was Zack? – sent a letter he wrote and one she wrote to them-“ He paused once more. “Well – Obviously she wrote it before she was put in a coma. But, anyways, they’ve never been to visit her. Nobody has been to visit her since Sephiroth disappeared.” Again the doctor found himself listening to the person on the other side of the phone. “Yeah. Apparently he came by and visited her fairly often like that Zack guy.”
‘My family hates me. How depressing to hear. Not like I know them anyways. Zack was like a brother, so he was good enough when he came and visited. Sephiroth was nice too though he only came and actually spoke once. I guess one visit is better than none.’
“I know. Happy anniversary. I should be getting out of here within the next two hours. We’ll go out to eat when I get back, okay? Don’t worry about anything, it’ll be fine. I’ll see you later. Bye.” The young doctor snapped his cell phone shut and sighed as he looked at the black phone. It was troublesome that he was stuck here on his anniversary; but, work was work and it paid. “When are you going to wake up?”
‘Now.’
Slowly her eyes opened for the first time in nearly seven years, they could barely open and look towards the dark ceiling above her, her eyelids were so heavy. Quietly, a sigh escaped her mouth, fogging up the oxygen mask on her face. Though it had been a very quiet sigh, the doctor had heard it and was out of his chair. He had wandered to the bed side only to run out of the door quickly.
“She’s awake! Terasu’s awake!”
‘That’s right. Zack called me Terasu. Terasu Navos. An odd name; but, it’s one I can deal with I suppose,’ Terasu thought to herself as she fought with herself to move her arms up to her face in order to remove the oxygen mask. Finally she managed to raise her arms up and pull the mask from her face and took in a deep breath of fresh, non-canned, air. She remained still afterwards and the only noise in the room was the sound of her deep breathing. Terasu closed her eyes again for what seemed to be a moment only for talking to cause her to open them once more.
“I thought you said she was –“ The man who had been speaking stopped quickly as he realized Terasu’s eyes were open. He pushed up his glasses as if to see better with them as he stepped closer towards Terasu. “So you are awake. Do you remember me?” He asked as he hunched his back over somewhat while leaning closer towards her, his black bangs nearly touching one of her eyes. Slowly Terasu shook her head. His voice sounded familiar; but, why? “How troublesome. I’m Professor Hojo, responsible for you being alive today. Do you remember what happened or how you ended up in here?” He asked attempting to keep things as short as possible.
What was she in here for? Perhaps that was why Zack kept apologizing to her? She did not know. She finally shook her head. Every time she wanted to go back and remember things, a seering pain shot through from the side of her head. Slowly she lifted her hands up to her head and held the sides of her head while coming to the conclusion that she should just stop trying to remember things. “How troublesome indeed,” Hojo muttered shaking his head.
“Amnesia?” The doctor who had fetched Hojo asked while clicking his pen in order to write.
“Seems that way,” Hojo said quietly. “Anyways. You don’t even remember who you are, do you?”
“Te…” Her voice faded for a moment. “Terasu,” she paused for a moment while attempting to regain control of her voice. “Terasu Navos,” she finally managed to say properly enough.
“Well, that’s a start. But what about your occupation?” The ShinRa logo on everything in the room had made it clear for whom she worked. But what did she do? She did not k now.
“I work for ShinRa.”
“What did you do for them?” Hojo was responded with a simple head shake from Terasu.
“Gah. Fine. I’ll explain everything then. You were in SOLDIER; but, your squad was disbanded due to you being the only living person on your squad and there not longer being a need for it. Your last mission sent you to Wutai as a healer and summoner. During an attack on the camp, you were shot-“ That word rang through her mind, echoing as things just suddenly flooded back as quickly it had left her so long ago.
She was running with someone, they were leading her by the hand, passing by blurred images which she could not recall. The young black haired male was saying something; but, she couldn’t remember those, apparently they weren’t important enough to be revived. The only thing she could hear was a heartbeat, was it her own? They stopped and in each hand she held a sphere, a green and a red one: materia. Before they could be used though, the one who had led her to where she stood yelled out, echoing in the memory and over powering the sound of the heartbeat. She was by his side in a mere second with the green sphere glowing in her hands as she healed his arm. “You try to take better care of yourself. You got it?” “Yes ma’am,” he had replied. Their words seemed to just echo as if they had been in a hollowed room. But then that pain burrowed its way through her head again and she found herself staring at his shoes. She did not say anything but only mouthed ‘help, Zack.’ “Terasu!” And again, Zack’s voice echoed loudly through her mind. “Hey!” Hojo shook her shoulder somewhat, pulling her from her memories. “Are you listening to me at all?”
“Where’s Zack?” Terasu asked quietly.
“Zack?” Hojo asked, slightly taken back by the simple fact that she knew the name while she had had trouble remembering her own.
“He was there with me when I was shot. He kept coming to visit me too.”
“So you remember?”
“Being shot,” Terasu said though wanting a reply about Zack.
“Well then, my job’s done here,” Hojo said quickly. “I’ve got other things to go take care of anyways.”
“But what about Zack?”
“Zack was terminated about five years ago,” Hojo said quietly.
“Terminated?”
“Fired.”
“Oh,” Terasu found herself feeling rather disappointed. How would she find him now? How troublesome indeed. “I’m tired. Do you mind if I go back to sleep?”
“Already?” The doctor behind Hojo questioned tilting his head. “But you’ve been awake for only the past two hours. Don’t you want ot get up and start moving?” Terasu thought about his words for a moment and finally nodded.
“I guess you’re right,” she muttered quietly only to have him help pull her to a sitting up position while Hojo left the room. As she sat up, her spine cracked and straightened. Slowly she rolled her head around, cracking her neck as well. Everything in her entire body felt so stiff, probably from just laying down of the past few years and doing nothing else.
“I’m surprised you’re able to move your arms as well as you do as well as your hands. Most people can’t move too much afterwards without any form of physical therapy,” the doctor said giving a smile.
“My fingers don’t really seem to want to co-operate with me. To move one of them, all of them move.”
“Over time you’ll gain control of it all once more. Don’t worry too much about it. Now, I can only pray for your legs to still be strong,” he said slowly. “Let’s give it a try at least. I’ll hold most of our weight and allow you to stand,” the doctor explained as he helped Terasu move her legs over and off the side of the bed. He wrapped his right arm under Terasu’s left and placed his other hand on her mid-section in order to provide some form of stability as he helped her to her feet. Almost as soon as she was on them, Terasu almost fell to the ground. If not for the doctor with her, then she surely would have found herself on the floor. “Try to make your legs straight for right now, that’s about as much as I can tell you.”
“They feel somewhat weak,” Terasu complained. “Maybe I just need to lose weight?” The doctor laughed as she straightened her legs out.
“Alright, I’m going to let some more weight onto your feet. Will you be fine with that?”
“I guess so,” she muttered as he started to let her weight to be placed on her legs, causing them to shake. They spent a little over the hour on attempting to learn how to walk only to call it a night as Terasu kept on complaining about her legs bothering her. “What do you know about Zack?” Terasu questioned as her doctor, or care taker as he called himself, helped her into her bed.
“I’ve only heard of him. Nothing more,” he said. “But, I’m going home for the night. I’ll catch you later. Oh. If you feel everything, shaking, don’t worry too much. It won’t bother us.”
“Shaking?”
“I’ve heard rumors that sector seven is going to fall tonight.”
“Sector seven? Falling?”
“Apparently the slums are to be squashed tonight.”
“That doesn’t sound right at all,” Terasu muttered, disliking the idea of squashing people. “Why?”
“Just to save ShinRa. I don’t know any other reason than that alone,” he said. “Try to get some sleep. We’ll work on walking around tomorrow more, okay? And once we get that done, you can leave the hospital and start life a new. I’ll try to tell you everything that you missed as well.”
“Is it true my family never came to see me?” Terasu asked, the idea had been bothering her for sometime and she simply wanted to know.
“Sadly it is. Apparently you only had two visitors, ever. That Zack guy and Sephiroth apparently liked to visit you from what I understand. Those were the only ones though.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’m sure the letters probably never made it to them or something.”
“Can I get some ice before you go?”
“Sure. Why?”
“I’m burning up. It would happen a lot when I was sleeping before hand – or rather – in the coma. Everything felt like it was on fire, maybe some ice would help that or something.”
“I’ll have a nurse bring it to you. Until then, farewell.”

II: The Mark
Indistinctive whispering haunted Terasu’s sleep as it had been for over six years. Some voice was always speaking in the back of her dreams, speaking words which she could never understand. This time though, the voice was louder. It was like the words of her memory of being shot, the voice just echoed continuously preventing her from even understanding it. That same burning feeling which had scorched her insides while in a coma began once more and finally, she heard two words in the midst of the loud speech of her dreams.
‘Wake up.’
Terasu jolted awake so she was sitting straight up and w/as dripping with a cold sweat which had damped most of her white patient outfit which consisted of a simple pair of pants and a simple white tank top. Shaking somewhat, Terasu looked down towards her hands and realized something she had failed to earlier when she first woke up. She could barely see it in the darkness; but, the occasional light that filled the room allowed her to confirm that her right hand was bandaged up. But why was the light occasional?
She lifted her head up and looked out through the window of her room and watched a the light before her room, on the ceiling flicker. Every time the light flickered, a streak of red was visible on the window causing her stomach to churn. What was going on around here? Only buzzing of electricity, which could only be heard when the light flickered on, could be heard by Terasu, not a single person could be heard. Quietly, Terasu set to unwrapping her hand rather slowly as she watched out the window, hoping to see someone pass by. Terasu tossed aside the gauze and finally looked down at her right hand and when the light flashed once more she found a number on her hand: ‘505’.
“What the hell?” Terasu questioned as she rubbed her hand, attempting to rub away the number yet it did not move. Had it been…? –no. It looked as if the number had been tattooed onto her hand? “What the hell is up with this s**t?” Terasu muttered getting rather annoyed. She had not had any tattoos that she recalled. Grumbling, she turned somewhat in her bed and hit the button to page the nurse. She sat there waiting for a while and hit it again when she did not get a response.
Whirring metal blades of a helicopter soon broke the silence of her room as the light had finally just gone out. The helicopter’s spotlight shone in her window for a brief moment only for the helicopter to fly away. “The hell is going on around here?” Terasu mumbled still feeling the burning moving through her body. Tired of being confused, she decided to get up and attempt to figure things out. As she tossed the covers off of her legs she heard something running through the hall. She jerked her head up to look at the window as a chill ran through her, calming the fiery sensation which had been running through her. What on earth was going on around here?
Sighing, Terasu managed to swing her legs over to the side of her bed once again and readied herself to stand up. A faint orange yellow glow that had appeared down the hall caught her attention just as she attempted to stand up. Her legs, still weak from not being used for so long, shook somewhat the moment that she put some weight onto them and with a scream, she fell to the floor.
“Wait! I just heard someone yelling!”
“We don’t have time to wait!” Terasu looked up towards the window as the voices were right outside her room and the glow that looked like that it belonged to a flickering flame was now outside her window too. She could see three silhouetted figures out of the window, two of them looking human while the third looked like a canine.
“Hold on a minute. We’ve got time,” a young woman’s voice calmed the other two down. “Maybe she was hurt too and she can tell us what happened? Where did it come from, Red XIII?”
“This way, I think it was in this room.” Terasu remained silent as her door slid open and the glow lit up the room and the three entered. “There,” the canine looking creature said looking towards Terasu and walking over towards her. “Wait. I think I’ve seen this one before,” he said tilting his head towards the side.
“Are you alright?” The young woman asked leaning down near Terasu.
“I’ve lost my ******** mind,” Terasu muttered quietly. Had she really just watched that dog thing, with fire on its tail, talk? Sure seemed like that. “I just need to wake up now,” she continued to mutter.
“Are you alright?” The girl of the group asked again.
“Aeris, she ain’ talkin’ ta us, let’s jus’ go!”
“I guess you’re right Barret,” Aeris muttered quietly standing up again.
“What the hell is going on?!” The three before Terasu froze as she attempted to start climbing up the side of her bed with just her arms, at least they still had the strength to help her. “Who are you guys?”
“Sephiroth is back-“ Aeris said quickly.
“We ain’ got time ta explain ourselves ta ya’,” Barret grumbled. “Do ya wanna come with us or not? Ya choice.”
“Hojo seemed to have left his mark on you as well. It might be better if you did come with us,” Red XIII said glancing out of the door. “But make up your mind now, or else we’re leaving.” Sephiroth was back? What had happened to him in the first place? These people seemed to know and seemed to know where he could be found or something. The one person who she knew from before – perhaps it would do her good to go with these people. They also seemed to know what this mark on her hand was, perhaps they could tell her about it. Finally, Terasu nodded towards the three.
“Just help me walk-“
“Ain’ got time ta help ya walk – I’ll jus’ carry ya,” the one named Barret said picking up Terasu suddenly and sitting her on his back as if he was giving her a piggy back ride. “Jus’ hang on tight, but don’ choke me,” he said starting after the other two. “Good thing we ain’ got to take care of some damned robots. Yeah, ya’ missed all the fun,” Barret said sarcastically as he ran down the stairs with Aeris and Red XIII. The front doors of the ShinRa building was right before them when the three stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Terasu asked quietly, unable to see outside due to Barret’s head being in the way.
“ShinRa troops, and lots of them,” Red XIII said as Barret placed Terasu on the ground carefully.
“Ain’ nothin’ I can’ handle,” Barret grumbled as he started towards the glass doors with his gun of a hand held out. Quickly he let a few rounds off, leaving Terasu extremely confused.
“You just shot at troops?!”
“What? You want us to be friendly to them when they’re trying to kill us?” Red XIII asked with a sigh. “And don’t tell me they weren’t trying to kill you – the proof is right there on your hand that they have. It’s also in your eyes,” he said staring out the doors as Barret rushed back to them.
“Okay. That ain’ workin’,” he said shaking his head. “Where’s that damned blondey when you need him?”
“Barret! Aeris! Red!” The four turned their heads towards the stairs which they had just come down. “And another random person?”
“Tifa! Where the hell is Cloud?!” Barret yelled up towards the young black haired woman.
“He’s up here. Come on, we’ve got a plan. Bring your new friend too, I guess.”
“I ain’ no friend with a ShinRa person!” Barret yelled and glanced back towards Terasu who was climbing to her feet and using Red XIII for support. “Damn it, make sure ya tell that woman I ain’ no friend!”
“Will do,” Terasu muttered as Barret picked her up again and ran up the stairs with the others.
“Alrigh’ – so where’s ********’ blondey?!” Barret yelled again towards Tifa who opened the door of one of the prototype truck models on the floor. Before she could even start it up though, the sound of an engine echoed through the floor. “What the hell? ******** you Cloud and your damn motorcycle! Maybe someone else want ta ride it? Eh?! Mr. I-Don’-Give-A-Damn gives a damn about lookin’ cool.”
“Whatever,” Cloud muttered as he stopped the motorcycle next to the truck as the group of five loaded up in the truck. He raised a brow as he watched Aeris help the new fifth person into the truck as Barret and Red XIII climbed into the back and pulled up the tailgate. “You ready, Tifa?”
“Ready!” Tifa started up the truck and gave a thumbs up towards Cloud who merely nodded towards Tifa as he reeved the engine of the bike once more.
“Then, let’s go,” he said finally allowing the bike to move once more, after it moved nearly a yard, he suddenly peeled out, leaving a black trail behind him on the ground as the motorcycle picked up speed.
Terasu squinted her eyes closed the moment she realized that the truck was following Cloud on his daring feat of jumping from the window. For just a split second, she felt weightless as the truck took flight. That feeling was utterly crushed as the truck landed on the highway and Tifa jerked the wheel to straighten the truck out.
“s**t,” Tifa grumbled as she looked into the rearview mirror. “Cloud!” She yelled honking the horn to get his attention. He glanced back towards her and slowed down somewhat so she could pull up next to him. “We’ve got company already!” Cloud glanced over his shoulder once more and slowed down even more, getting behind the truck as he pulled his over-sized sword from his back in order to deal with the ShinRa troops who were on motorcycles themselves. “Hang on, lady,” Tifa said glancing towards Terasu. “It’s going to be a rough ride. Hopefully we’ll get out of this mess. Barret!”
“What did I do now?”
“Just give Cloud some cover fire!”
“Damn it. Can’t let Blondey get hurt, can ya’?”
“Shut up Barret and just do it!”
“How does he have that sword?” Terasu asked quietly though nobody heard her. She could have sworn that sword had belonged to someone else. Who? Not Zack; but, it was someone who was related to him in her mind somehow. She glanced into the mirror and watched Cloud swinging the sword quickly and knocking of ShinRa troops from their bikes. Maybe it was a different sword?
“You okay?” Aeris asked quietly seeing Terasu just staring while attempting to think.
“What?”
“Are you alright?”
“I think so,” Terasu replied shaking her head.
“I’m Aeris. The driver is Tifa. The two in the back are Barret, and Red XIII. Lastly, the one with the motorcycle is –“
“Angeal?” Terasu asked, slightly puzzled as to where she had gotten the name from. The more and more she attempted to think about it, the more her head would hurt.
“What?” Aeris’ eyes widened due to confusion. “No, that’s Cloud,” she said slowly. “Who are you?”
“Terasu,” she paused for a moment. “I’ve heard of an Aeris before,” she finally said as Tifa continued to speed down the highway.
“I’ve heard of a Terasu before too,” Aeris said giving a soft smile. Terasu failed to see the smile as she watched the road ahead of them. “The road’s out.”
“What?” Aeris asked looking up quickly. “Oh –“
“I got it!” Tifa yelled bringing the truck to a halt at the end of the highway. “Cloud, you alright?” Tifa asked as she emerged from the truck with Cloud pulling up next to them.
“Yeah,” he said quietly only to lean over somewhat and look at the new member of the group. “Who is this-“
“We ain’ got time ta ask questions!” Barret yelled as he climbed out of the truck’s bed. “We got some robo-cop afta’ us,” he called as the large, almost tank-like, robot rolled up towards the group. While the rest of the group set to taking the machine apart, Aeris stayed with Terasu who seemed to be rather dazed.
“I’m sorry,” Terasu said slowly shaking her head. “I feel horrible: I’m utterly useless yet again.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Aeris said with a smile. “It’s okay. I’m pretty much useless to the group. I can only use materia but not a lot of it,” she said with a shrug.
“I’m so confused about everything,” Terasu muttered leaning over and grabbing her head and shaking it slowly. “I don’t even know what’s going on here.”
“Well, I don’t really know either!” Aeris said rubbing Terasu’s shoulder somewhat. “Nobody really does except for Cloud. But, he isn’t really saying anything. You know, Cloud’s going to tell us about himself, and what he knows about Sephiroth and everything else, when we get out of Midgar, at least that’s what he said. So maybe you should tell us about yourself too?” Aeris got no reply from Terasu other than a simple sigh followed by a nod. Their conversation was brought to an abrupt end as a large piece of metal landed in the bed of the truck. Scared, the two looked over their shoulders and looked at the large robotic hand in the bed of the truck.
“Finished, no thanks ta ya two!” Barret called as he walked next to the truck.
“No time to waste,” Cloud said placing his sword on his back. “We need to get out of Midgar so we can get going to Kalm. Tifa, Barret, you guys come with me. Red XIII and you two, go to Kalm together. We’ll meet in the hotel there.”
“Can you walk?” Aeris asked watching as Terasu slid to the door of the truck once she had gotten out herself.
“I think I should be fine. I might need someone for support. I think my legs are finally snapping out of their stupidity. I might need a few breaks depending on how long we’re walking,” Terasu replied as she forced herself onto her feet, using the truck door for support. Her legs felt weak and as if they were shaking; but, she could tell that at least they weren’t going to go out on her.
“See you guys at Kalm,” Cloud called with a wave of his hand as he followed both Barret and Tifa in climbing down the wire in order to get out of Midgar. “You guys go the north route – we’ll take the south one.”
“Bye Cloud,” Aeris called with a wave when Cloud started to slide down.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Terasu muttered looking at the wire which Aeris had started to go down on once Cloud had reached the bottom.
“At least you have hands,” the canine-like Red XIII muttered only to leap off the road and land onto the wall that surrounded Midgar and bounce down onto the ground with a grunt. Giving a sigh, Terasi took a hold of the wire and started her way down. Her arms were not used to the stress and began burning when she was only half way down. She forced them to continue working until she felt her foot resting in the hook at the end of the wire. Finally she jumped down though had a clumsy landing and ultimately fell to her knees.
“This should be an interesting hike,” Terasu muttered as Aeris helped her to her feet.

III: On That Day, Five Years Ago…
The walk to Kalm was actually a fairly short when one looked at a map; but, Terasu made it take longer than what it needed to be because of her needing to rest every so often. However, her breaks led to her talking with Aeris and, the canine-like, Nanaki who also did not mind being called Red XIII, more so than what she would have otherwise.
“What happened? Back in Midgar?” Terasu asked during one of their breaks, massaging the bottom half of her leg carefully with her hands.
“More like who than what,” Nanaki replied quietly.
“Well, actually a lot of stuff happened,” Aeris said interrupting Nanaki. “He wouldn’t really know either; but, a reactor was blown up by Cloud, Barret, and I think Tifa even had a hand in it to a degree. But then in response, ShinRa just took down the plate of sector seven and let it fall right onto the bottom,” Aeris paused and sighed. “So many people got killed,” she muttered shaking her head. “And then I got kidnapped by Tseng of the Turks.-“
“He’s still working for them? Sorry, continue.”
“And well, that’s when I met Red XIII.”
“And shortly after our temporary escape with the assistance of Cloud’s group, apparently Sephiroth appeared and killed most of the people inside of the building, including President ShinRa himself,” Nanaki said as he finally allowed himself to lay down on the ground completely. “That’s all we know. Then we found you, on the ground – from there you know what happened.”
“But why?” Terasu asked finding herself even more confused. “Why on earth would Sephiroth turn against the company who made him into a hero? Who made him who he was?”
“Better yet – what is he doing alive?” Aeris asked only to give a shrug. “There are so many things that need to be cleared up.”
“What do you mean by ‘what is he doing alive’?” Nanaki and Aeris glanced towards each other and back towards Terasu.
“What do you mean?” Aeris questioned finally. “How long have you been asleep?” Aeris asked though she actually knew about how long due to Terasu having been mentioned by Zack on more than one occasion. “Sephiroth was said to have died five years ago – when Zack died.”
“Zack?” Nanaki questioned with his ears standing up straight as he flicked his tail to the side, the name making him slightly curious as he had not heard of a ‘Zack’ before. He merely got a shaking of heads as a response from the two girls.
“Don’t worry about it,” the two women said quickly together.
“Hmph.” Nanaki laid his head on his paws for a moment as silence took over the air around the group. “Well then. What is your story, Terasu was it?” He finally questioned breaking the silence. “Why would a ShinRa employee like yourself agree to come with an anti-ShinRa group like us?”
“For starters – I didn’t really know that you guys were anti-ShinRa before I agreed to come with you. When they started shooting at you guys on the first floor, I knew,” Terasu clarified quickly. “And for now, I’d prefer to wait to answer questions like those until we’ve the whole group because I know the others are expecting answers as well. I’d rather not repeat myself multiple times.”
“Understandable.”
“So, you’ll tell us in Kalm? I guess we should get moving then. And when we get there – we can get you some better clothing, get you some materia as well.”
“Better yet, a weapon as well. If she’s going to be traveling with us, she’ll need to have something to defend herself with,” Nanaki said closing his eyes.
“Lets get going. I don’t want to be too late,” Terasu finally sighed as she forced herself onto her feet, stumbling somewhat when she managed to stand. “Come on,” she called with a wave as she started walking once more.
“And I had just gotten comfortable too,” Nanaki muttered trailing after Terasu. From that point forward, their breaks were less frequent as Terasu’s legs seemed to remember their strength. Upon their arrival they were given a not-so-warm welcome by Barret who had been pacing outside of the hotel.
“Da hell have ya been?! We’ve been waitin’ for ya!”
“Sorry,” Terasu muttered in reply, pushing by Barret rather quickly due to the simple fact she was already tired enough with her legs being extremely sore.
“I’ll be back in a little bit Barret,” Aeris finally said giving a wave as she trotted away from the hotel.
“What?! Where ya goin’ now?!”
“I’ll go with her,” Nanaki sighed. “I’ll see that she hurries up.”
“Ya better!” Barret yelled only to shake his fist at the two before entering the hotel. He thumped his way up the stairs in what sounded like a rather clumsy manner, a scowl still worn on his face. By the time he reached the top of the stairs, Terasu had found a bed and was sitting on it massaging her legs. Cloud still stood by the window and Tifa was still sitting on the bed she had been when he had gone down to wait for the second group to arrive. “Aeris and that dog ran off. They said they’ll be back in a little bit,” Barret grunted as he folded his arms, staying near the stairs in order to hear the others when they returned.
An awkward silence filled the air as the four waited for both Aeris and Nanaki to return as each of the four seemed to feel uneasy speaking around one another and so they each remained in their own little spot: Tifa on a bed across from Terasu, Barret by the stairs, and Cloud pacing by the window. The soft thud of Cloud’s boots provided some noise, though it was similar to that of the ticking seconds hand of a clock due to how he kept the same pace so quickly. Terasu found the steps to be slightly annoying yet, similar to that of a clock, she found the repeated sound starting to lull her to sleep.
“I’m going to go find them,” Cloud finally declared as he took the handle of his oversized sword and lifted it from the bed closest to him.
“Jus’ hurry!” Barret barked towards the blond male as he climbed down the stairs. Barret looked towards Tifa who was simply staring down towards her feet at the moment. He turned his gaze towards Terasu who looked like she was sleeping. “Hey! Don’ you go ta sle-“
“I’m not asleep,” Terasu muttered with a sigh. “Just thinking. Nothing more.” In truth, she had put off telling what she knew with Nanaki and Aeris due to the simple fact that she did not know too much about herself other than the war. Perhaps she could force herself to remember some things with this spare time?
“Ya’ know what? You act jus’ like Cloud does!” Barret declared with a slight growl. “And I don’ really care for that! I’ve got enough issues dealing wit’ ‘im, I don’ need another wise a** in here,” he grumbled. “Guess that’s how all ‘dem former SOLDIERs are, eh, Tifa?”
“Oh, leave her alone Barret. Don’t get your boxers all in a bunch. She’s not nearly as rude as Cloud would be.”
“We’re back!~” Aeris’ voice carried up the staircase with ease as she hurried up the stairs with a plastic bag in hand. “Here you go,” she said placing the bag at the foot of Terasu’s bed. “We got you some new clothes!”
“Didn’ the sign say no animals?” Barret joked as Nanaki trailed behind Aeris, with what seemed to be a large stick in his mouth. Choosing it to be the better idea to ignore Barret, Nanaki placed his item on the bed as well.
“And a kodachi as well. We did not know what to get you but, we figured that this was a happy medium unless you would prefer to be a ranged-figter?”
“I don’t…” Terasu trailed off and shook her head. A fragment of a memory had fluttered into her mind with Zack attempting to teach her how to hold the handle of a sword. “If I do know how to use a sword, then I’ve clearly forgotten. I suppose with it being shorter then it might be easier to use,” she said quietly. “Thank you very much.”
“So where’s blondey?” Barret asked finally as Terasu gathered the dark blue clothing from the bag on the bed.
“Cloud? I thought he was here?”
“Now he’s late!” Barret yelled only to pace furiously back and forth, loudly stomping his feet on the wooden floor. As Barret continued to grumble, Terasu found it to be the best time to go and change into the clothing that Aeris had bought her. Quietly she slipped into the bathroom of the large hotel room and set to changing rather quickly, tossing the patient uniform onto the sink of the restroom. With ease, she slipped the dark blue top over her head and pulled it down so it would rest properly on her, attempting to judge if the square neck was crooked or not because it would just bother her if it was not. The only thing which bothered her about the top were the long sleeves that billowed out at the end, leaving her to feel as if she had wings of sorts. The pants, the same color as the top, also fanned out in the same form of the top. Practically by instinct, Terasu set to tucking in her shirt. Finally, around her waist she tied a pale blue sash, hiding the where both her shirt and pants met.
She stepped back from the mirror somewhat so she could judge the outfit for herself only to realize that this was the first time that she had looked into the mirror since she had gotten up. Her hair was a light brown, almost a dirty blond color; however, the tips of her hair were a darker brown. Finally ignoring the color of her hair, which in all honesty had surprised her, she simply stared at the mirror to judge the outfit. Figuring it looked fairly decent, she gave a slight shrug and set to gathering up the white clothing of the patient uniform. It was at that time that a slight glow caught her eye in the mirror. Quickly she jerked her head up to look into the mirror only to realize that it came from her eyes. What was wrong with her?! Her pupils had dilated until they had taken the shape of cat-like pupils and then the pale blue glow of her eyes. Finally, something fired in her mind.
“The mark of a SOLDIER?” She asked quietly. For some reason, that lone sentence had come to mind. Who had told her it though? She could not remember at all. Terasu sighed quietly and shook her head. At least the others had been kind enough not to torment her about her odd eyes.
“Where da hell have you been?!” Terasu folded the white clothing as apparently Cloud arrived only to be greeted by Barret in the same manner she had been a while ago.
“Where’s the other one?” Cloud questioned ignoring Barret.
“In the restroom,” Tifa replied with a sigh.
“Damn it! You’re ignorin’ me, ain’ ya?!”
“I see. Well, when she’s out then I’ll ******** you blondey! ********! You!” Terasu emerged from the restroom as Aeris laughed at the fuming Barret who was ready to start shooting Cloud with the gun on his arm. The only thing that stopped him from doing so was the fact that Tifa still had a thing for Cloud and he was well aware of that.
“Alright, so I can start finally-“
“Oh! It looks good on you!” Aeris said clapping her hands, interrupting Cloud without so much of a care that she had just done so.
“Thank you again.”
“Not a problem at all-“
“It all started five years ago, when I had to go to Nibelheim,” Cloud said loudly to make it obvious that he did not want any further interruptions as he sat down on the window sill with his arms folded. “I was in SOLDIER at the time, I had been assigned to work with Sephiroth on, what he said, was ‘a mission unlike the others’. The mako reactor in Nibelheim had been acting up and some sort of vicious creatures were growing as a result of being tainted by the raw mako energy,” he paused for a moment and took in a deep breath, shaking his head slowly. “We found the creature that was causing all the trouble: an oversized black dragon that was in foul mood. Even as a SOLDIER – I was scared stiff at that time-“
“Hah! I wanna see blondey ********’ piss himself one day,” Barret snickered.
“I didn’t have a chance to do anything. Sephiroth handled the whole situation…”
Cloud simply stared towards the dragon which towered over both him and Sephiroth alone as the others had been too frightened to climb out of the truck on the dark, rainy, night. Even the rain though would not put out the first that the dragon spat. He drew his blade, attempting to think of a plan of how to handle the situation. Even his materia would not be enough to handle this situation.
“Stand back. I’ll take care of it,” Sephiroth said, moving his head to one side quickly to get his wet silvery hair from in front of his face as he lifted his long sword up.
“There’s no way you’ll be-“ Before Cloud could even finish his sentence, Sephiroth had already darted forward and driven his blade through the throat of the dragon which gave as mighty of a roar as it could with a sword stuck through its throat. It flung its clawed feet about wildly, attempting to just hit anything to get the pain to stop. Just stuck in a state of awe, Cloud had remained still and had failed to notice the clawed foot which flew his way. Like a rag doll, Cloud was tossed back from the dragon and left with several large, though, thankfully, shallow cuts from his chest down.
“Be on your guard at all times, Cloud,” Sephiroth warned as he twisted his weapon in the throat of the dragon only to pull it towards the side and rip it through the side of the neck. “That’s the lesson for today,” he said quietly as the dragon fell over onto its side though the limbs of the creature continued to move sporadically as the creature bleed to death before Cloud. “Come on. We’ve got to get to that mako reactor,” Sephiroth called with a smirk as Cloud got to his feet once again. “If you’re going to be in SOLDIER, then you’ll need to pull your act together. Got it?”

IV: On That Day, Seven Years Ago…
“Traitor,” Sephiroth muttered tossing the journal aside as Cloud approached him in the underground basement.
“What are you talking about now?” Cloud questioned, stepping over the books.
“You ignorant traitor. I’ll tell you,” Sephiroth said as he seated himself in the chair behind the desk . “This planet originally belonged to the Cetra. Cetra was a itinerant race. They would migrate in, settle the planet, then they would simply leave this planet. At the end of their harsh, their hard, journey, they would find the Promised Land and supreme happiness.” Sephiroth leaned back in the chair calmly, pausing for a moment as he thought of the best way to explain things to Cloud. “But then those who ‘disliked’ the journey appeared. They didn’t want to continue the traditional migrations. They made shelters and settled down, elected to an easier life! They took that which the Cetra and the planet had made without giving one whit in return!” Sephiroth placed a hand over his eyes, as they were tired from having been reading so many of the journals left in the basement under the old mansion. “Those are your ancestors.”
“Sephiroth?” Cloud asked quietly while tilting his head.
“Long ago a disaster struck this planet,” Sephiroth said pushing himself up from the chair, he was feeling so fidgety yet tired at the same time. “Your ancestors escaped – In their place the Cetra were sacrificed and thus did your ancestors continue to…Increase and populate the world,” he said quietly starting back around to the front of the desk. “All that’s left of the Cetra are these…Reports.”
“And what does that have to do with you?” Could asked feeling a slight twinge of fear as Sephiroth’s tone had shifted from the normal relaxed one to which Cloud had grown accustomed.
“Don’t you get it?” Sephiroth asked passing by Cloud, down the hall that was lined with bookshelves only to give a slight laugh. “An Ancient named Jenova was found in the geological stratum of two thousand years ago. The Jenova Project. The Jenova Project wanted to produce people with the powers of the Ancients- No! The Cetra.” Sephiroth raised his hands, the palms up, and studied them carefully. “I am the one which was produced.”
“Pro-Produced?!”
“It’s all in the reports here! This library holds nothing more than reports of The Jenova Project!” Sephiroth started down the hallway and took hold of his sword which had been resting against one of the bookshelves.
“Sephiroth – where-“
“Stay out of my way. I’m going…To see…My mother.”
Terasu stared at the wooden floor as Cloud continued to talk about events from five years ago. Barret had clarified that Jenova was a headless corpse that had been kept in the ShinRa building. It sounded familiar to her though – familiar in the sense that she should know it. As Cloud continued on with her story, not knowing was getting the better of her. She had never heard it before Cloud had mentioned here, at least, that she could recall. Slowly she rubbed her forehead, attempting to force the block in her mind away in hopes being able to know why Jenova sounded so familiar.
Having attempted to find survivors in the fiery mess of Nibelheim, Cloud had given chase to Sephiroth to stop him from unleashing his wrath, as he had to Nibelheim, on the rest of the world. By the time Cloud had arrived, another body was added to the count. Tifa’s father lay dead and Tifa lay on the ground, injured. Blinded by anger, Cloud rushed up the stairs of the reactor and entered the chamber of the reactor in which Jenova was stored.
“Mother .Let’s…Take this planet back together,” Sephiroth offered as he held his hands up to remove the metal casing which was held in place by wires and machines to conceal the actual woman from view. “I’ve thought of a great idea,” he paused for a moment. “Let’s go to the Promised Land.”
“Sephiroth!” Cloud yelled as he entered the chamber. “My family!-My Hometown!- How could you do this to them?!” Laughter erupted from Sephiroth and echoed through the entire reactor as whole.
“Oh…They’ve come again, Mother,” he sighed while shaking his head. Sephiroth glanced over his shoulder towards Cloud as he reached out and took hold of one arm of the metal casing which had been shaped like an angel. “With her superior power, knowledge, and magic, Mother was the destined ruler of this planet.” Sephiroth paused and turned his head back towards the casing as he started to pull on it with both hands. “But they…But they!- Those worthless creatures! – Are stealing the planet away from Mother. But…Now I’m here with you. So,” Sephiroth pulled away the metal casing snapping the wires which held it in place. “Don’t worry,” he said revealing the platinum blonde, woman-like figure, with pale blue skin. “Don’t worry, Mother.”
Cloud, finally feeling enough anger to move himself, drew his sword. He had heard enough of this from Sephiroth.
“What about MY sadness?! My family?! My hometown?! It all being taken away from me?! It’s the same as your sadness!”
“Sadness? I believe you’re confused. What have I to be sad about?” Sephiroth asked tilting his head. “I have a task. A task which my orders are clear! I am to take this planet back from you stupid people for the Cetra. What have I to be sad about?! I am the chosen one! I have been chosen to be the leader of this planet!”
“Damn you, Sephiroth!” Cloud yelled finally lunging towards Sephiroth.
“And Sephiroth and I fought. So, that’s the end of my story,” Cloud said only to give a sigh at the end.
“Now wait a god damned minute! Ain’ their more?!”
“I…I don’t remember.”
“People say Sephiroth died – like – newspapers reported it.” The group sighed, everything being so confusing to all of them. “So…”
“He could be alive still. ShinRa owns the newspapers,” Aeris said quietly.
“Well this is all fine and dandy,” Nanaki yawned quietly from the bed he was resting on. “However, it was a bit depressing. Perhaps, the second story will be more interesting?”
“This is true!” Aeris said facing Terasu who was still attempting to think things over.
“Your turn – CatEyes,” Barret called towards Terasu; however, it never really seemed to click with her that they were talking to her until she felt their eyes staring at her.
“Oh? I’m sorry. I was just thinking.”
“So – tell us about yourself,” Cloud said quickly as he stood up to stretch his legs.
“Well, my name is Terasu Navos. I was also in SOLDIER. But, my story isn’t as spectacular as Cloud’s,” Terasu said slowly. “And mainly because I don’t remember too much about it.”
“Da hell? Is it a SOLDIER thing to suffer from amnesia?!” Barret questioned quickly.
“Sephiroth probably kicked my a** – I think that’s a good reason not to remember,” Cloud grunted.
“Well. I’ll explain my case at the end of my stuff. As far back as I can remember, it’s painful to try to dig up these memories. But, I can only go about seven years back –“
“Seven years?! Okay – listen – We ain’ got time for ya life story!”
“I missed the years between then and now,” Terasu said quietly, trying to hide the fact that she was becoming slightly annoyed.
“Seven years? Wouldn’t that be the ending of the war in Wutai?” Cloud questioned, tilting his head.
“That is correct. I can remember the day I arrived there, I was actually also on a mission with Sephiroth apparently. I don’t remember the details. But, I just know he didn’t go crazy half way during it.”
“There you are.” Terasu turned her head somewhat and saw Sephiroth standing at the top of the hill. “What are you doing out here?” Terasu shook her head as to indicate she had no real purpose of staying on the hillside.
“Getting away from the stress of the camp.” Terasu finally fixed her eyes back up towards the clouds again. “Watching the clouds. It’s just been something I’ve done ever since I got the see the clear sky after coming up from the slums.”
“The clouds? What’s so fascinating about them? Just mere water vapor, nothing more.” Terasu smirked hearing the confusion in his voice and shook her head slowly.
“You can see shapes in them, which is plenty amusing for me,” she replied finally only to be surprised by Sephiroth sitting next to her and start staring upwards himself.
“It’s been a while since I’ve just…Watch the clouds,” he said forcing a slight smirk. “They are relaxing to say the least. Unlike us, bound to this world, they’ve not a care on their shoulders,” he paused for a moment as he stared at the whispy clouds high in the sky. No puffy clouds floated along here, only the higest and thin clouds could be seen from where they sat at the moment. Sephiroth finally sighed as he leaned back somewhat. “How long has it been since I’ve actually just sat and watched the clouds?-“ He stopped abruptly as Terasu just completely laid down on the grass, staring at one of the larger clouds above her. “Are you alright?”
“You guys sound like you were friends, more so than Cloud and Sephiroth at least,” Tifa interjected, with a surprised look worn at the moment. “Were you guys close?!” She asked excitedly.
“Close enough I guess.”
“So – Cloud watchin’? Da hell does that have ta do with anything?!”
“Better than a town being burned!” Nanaki barked, flicking his tail. “Continue Terasu.”
“There isn’t much more that I remember than that though,” she sighed quietly. “Two other SOLDIER members approached us and attempted to get us working. One tried to teach me how to use a sword. Wasn’t working out so well though,” Terasu said giving a laugh. “They had these big swords – like - claymores and then Sephiroth’s sword. I hadn’t handled a sword in my life – so, that was amusing. But then we were ambushed by the remnants of the Wutai forces. God,” Terasu muttered placing a hand to her forehead.
The smell of burning flesh from the explosion would forever be left in Terasu’s mind as she attempted to heal those who were caught in the blast from the bomb. People ran about confused or attempting to bark out orders to regain some control of the area. The one that Terasu was trying to heal was already too far along for her to do anything about especially when one considered that about half of his hip was missing. The sight of so much blood had begun to make Terasu feel rather uneasy. But there were so many more that needed some sort of medical attention that nobody else was giving them.
“As a healer, I found it to be my job to tend to those who needed it – more so than being out in the front and summoning while plenty of people were still capable of fighting,” Terasu explained as she was suddenly able to smell the burnt flesh again. “I...I was never cut out to be a doctor. Yet, that’s what I did,” Terasu said shaking her head. “I don’t know why.”
“So, then what?” Barret asked with his grumpy tone.
“Wait,” Cloud interrupted. “You – you used summons?”
“Yes,” Terasu said with a nod.
“Sorry – I’ve just never met anyone who used them before. Please, continue.”
“So…I ended up being dragged to the front lines. I healed a person before I summoned only to be shot,” she explained as she lifted her hand up to the side of her head, giving the universal hand sign for gun and acting like her hand recoiled from it behind shot. “That’s it though,” Terasu sighed with a shrug. “Been out of it until – actually I think it was yesterday.”
“Ya’ll are messed up,” Barret said quickly. “Jus’ needed ta throw that out there,” he said shaking his head.
“So are we done?” Aeris asked quietly, having been rather depressed by both stories which were told.
“I’ve a question, actually.” Everyone looked back towards Terasu who now held up her right hand again. “This number, what does it mean?”
“That’s Hojo’s mark,” Nanaki finally answered after a moment. “I was numbered thirteen. Hence me accepting the name Red XIII.”
“That’s more lovely news to hear,” she muttered sarcastically as she ran her other hand over the tattoo. “It must have been while I was asleep. What do these experiments consist of normally?”
“They vary. If I could give you an overall answer – I would. But, their goal was to save my species. That’s all I know really. My apologies.”
“It’s fine.”
“Lets call it a night then,” Cloud said as he wandered towards a bed. “The first light of dawn, we’re going to be leaving. Okay everyone?”
“Yep!”
“Yes,” Terasu muttered after Aeris.
“I suppose that’s fine,” Nanaki said allowing the glow on his tail to become dimmer.
“I’m gonna sleep in late! Just to throw you the hell off!”
“Good night, Cloud,” Tifa called towards Cloud.
“Good night, everyone,” he replied quietly, turning out the few remaining lights in the hotel room.

Good suggestions. The only reason Tifa does not talk as much in these sections is because Terasu spends most of her time talking with either Cloud, Aeris, or Nanaki. That's all there is to it. You'll notice through the story that it's mostly Aeris, Nanaki, and Cloud who are talking the most with Barret for his humorous purpose xD Other wise, I did not really take those into account and I apologize for that. Thank you.
------------ V: Leaving a Trail
Terasu snapped her eyes open and found herself staring a wall of the dark hotel room. As quietly as she could the creaky bed, she sat up and stared down at her legs. What had caused her to wake up randomly and so suddenly? She took in a deep breath and shook her head slowly. As she sat there in the silence, her mind wandered back to the fact that apparently she had been an experiment of sorts. The 505 on her hand was still there she realized when she looked at her right hand. She had been wishing that sleeping would have made it disappeared even though the idea was not logical in one sense. An experiment. What did they do to her?
‘The time is coming.’
Terasu looked around quickly, her eyes wide open. Who was there in the room? It sounded like a man? She glanced towards the beds and noticed that everyone was still in their beds. Then someone else had to be in the room. Terasu tossed the covers aside and slid out of the bed, looking for anything that might have been suspiciously out of place or anything.
‘It has started.’
Again! Terasu glanced over her shoulder as the voice seemed to be fairly close. Nothing was there but the window behind her. Slowly, Terasu picked up the kodachi which had been given to her by both Aeris and Nanaki, from the floor next to her bed. “Who’s there?” Terasu looked around only to see Tifa stir somewhat in her bed. Carefully she unsheathed the weapon and held it out in front of her. She did not see anyone else in the room other than just the group she had remembered being in the room when she went to sleep. Then again, there were no lights at the moment. She reached over towards the curtains of the window, and pulled them open as she recalled a streetlight being located at the front of the hotel. The glow of the light illuminated most of the room and allowed Terasu to see only the other five and nobody else.
‘Take this planet back.’
Her eyes darted around until she heard someone yawning in the room. She watched as Nanaki as he lifted his head somewhat. He stood up on the bed, stretching his legs and allowing his tail to glow brighter. He tilted his head towards Terasu with her weapon drawn. “What are you doing?” Nanaki questioned quietly. “There’s someone else here. I’ve been hearing them talking.” Nanaki quickly sniffed the air and shook his head. “If they are here, then they must smell exactly like this place or us.” “But…I’ve been hearing them. Shh! Maybe you’ll hear them too.” The two remained silent for a while and he finally shook his head once more. “Nothing. Besides, if there was someone here, I’m such a light sleeper that I would have woken up before you.” Nanaki climbed down off his bed and glanced towards the clock in the room. “We need to wake everyone else up if we want to get out of here on time.” Terasu watched as Nanaki went and woke up Cloud by shaking the blond awake with his paws. She finally sheathed her kodachi and assisted both Cloud and Nanaki in waking everyone else up; however, she got stuck with trying to wake up Barret. She poked him a couple of times on the arm. “Stop tha..It tickles.” “Barret. Time to get up,” Terasu said, now shaking him somewhat. “Marlene – ya ain’ goin’ ta school taday.” “Barret.” She started to shake him a little harder. “Marlene…Daddy ain’ getting’ up. Jus’ leave meh alone.” “Barret!” Terasu finally shoved him rather hard, almost causing him to roll off the bed. “What?!” He sat up quickly and looked around. “Oh. ******** this s**t, I’m goin’ back to sleep,” he grumbled laying back down as the others started to get ready to start moving once more. Terasu folded her arms as he threw his covers back on himself. Finally she pushed him again, shoving him out of the bed. “Da’ hell was that for?!” Barret yelled getting up. “We’re leaving soon,” Terasu replied simply enough as she moved away from him to pick up her things. “Ya’ ain’ no right ta push me off the bed like that! That hurt!” “Shut up Barret and get ready to go,” Cloud called over his shoulder. Listening to Barret continuing his rant, Terasu folded up the patient clothing carefully. But then why was she doing so? She stared blankly at the clothing and finally decided that it was probably best to just throw them away. When she reached that decision, she realized her hands were shaking as they held the clothes. She was still shaken up by the voice she had heard. Perhaps it was just a figment of her imagination and nothing more. “Hey, Terasu, you ready yet?” Tifa called from the stairs. “We’re waiting on you.” “Oh. I’m sorry,” Terasu said quickly, standing up and starting towards the stairs after Tifa, tossing the white clothing into the trash before she started down the stairs. “Alright. So, our next stop is going to be the chocobo farm-“ “Chocobos? I love them!” Aeris said clapping her hands. “They’re so cute!” “When we meet there,” Cloud continued, “we’ll keep on moving.” “Just where exactly are we going to go?” Nanaki asked as Cloud turned away. “I figured that maybe Nibelheim holds the answers that we’re looking for about Sephiroth.” “Are we splitting up into groups again?” Terasu questioned as she forced her kodachi to stay put in between her sash and body. “Yes.” “Why?” “Just because a big group is easy to find-“ “It’s harder to take down too.” “Fine. We’ll stick together,” Cloud said rolling his eyes. Before too many other people awoke in the town, the group of six had left Kalm behind. Aeris, Barret, Cloud, and Tifa spent most of the walk talking with each other and usually leaving both Terasu and Nanaki out of the conversation though the two found that to be better. “What did you hear this morning?” Nanaki asked, watching the four ahead of them continue to lead the way. “I swear it was a person.” “But there wasn’t anyone in there besides us and everyone was asleep.” “Their words were so clear though!” “What did they say?” “Something about it being the time to do something and something having started.” “Anything else?” “Something about taking back the world.” Terasu failed to notice until she was a couple of feet in front of Nanaki that he had froze. “Didn’t Cloud say something about Sephiroth saying that?” “That must have been at the point I was not really paying attention if he did.” “Maybe…” Nanaki trailed off as he caught back up with Terasu. “You were part of that experiment yourself? The Jenova Project.” The two fell silent for a while before hearing Aeris yelling with excitement. “Chocobos!” Aeris ran in front of everyone else and ran towards to fence of the Chocobo Farm. Near the fence a few bright yellow chocobos pecked at the ground. “They’re so cute! I can’t believe I finally get to see one in person!” Everyone else gave a quiet laugh as Aeris reached over the fence to pet a chocobo. It moved away from her hand in a playful manner and continue to duck around it, giving an occasional ‘wark’ as it did so. Soon Aeris simply became tired of attempting to pet the chocobo and came off the fence in an almost pouting child-like manner. “We’re going to need a few of those if we’re going to get across that swamp,” Cloud called towards Aeris as he pointed to the west. “How much further are we plannin’ on walkin’?!” Barret asked, feeling rather tired as it had taken them nearly half of the day to get from Kalm to the farm alone. “Howdy folks! Welcome the famous Chocobo Farm of the east continent!~” “You guys aren’t that famous,” Cloud muttered looking at the preteen who stood at the opened doors of the barn. “Sure we are!” The kid called back, his country-side accent seeming to draw the chocobos towards him. “Aw shucks. It ain’t feedin’ time yet, ya’ll!” He laughed at the chocobos, some of which gave a depressed ‘wark’ in return. “Come on over here, ya’ll,” he waved towards Cloud and his group. “Let’s see if we can at least get a chocobo for everyone,” Cloud muttered walking off towards the barn with most of his group trailing after him. Terasu however found herself staying by the fence with the chocobos. One of them gave another, almost a sighing, depressed ‘wark’ when she turned to leave. A smile crept onto her lips as Terasu leaned against the fence, staring at the chocobo. “Wark?” She questioned, deciding to play with the over-sized chicken which quickly whistled back towards her, sounding a little happier at the moment. Deciding to continue playing with the chocobo, Terasu returned the whistle only for the chocobo to give an excited squawk and a small jump of joy. “Heh, happy little thing, aren’t ya?” Terasu questioned with a smile. The chocobo began to make all sorts of whistling noises, as if it were talking to her though Terasu had turned away to look at the west. Clouds were building up in that direction and it seemed as if it would rain soon enough. The more she stared in that direction though, the more she could feel something attempting to pull her that way. It seemed as if something was silently screaming for her to go. She closed her eyes and shook her head. Maybe she was just going crazy? Possibly from the experiments? When the thoughts of being an experiment for ShinRa returned, Terasu found herself believing that leaving that company behind was probably the best option. If they were willing to conduct experiments on her without here consent and while she was completely out of it, then she did not to be there. It was as simple as that. However, she could not possibly shake the question of what they did to her from her head. All she knew was that it was making her seem like she had gone crazy. Terasu glanced over her shoulder towards the barn. Could they at least attempt to hurry? Finally the barn doors were thrown open as the group emerged with Barret leading them. “Hillbillies! Who needs them?!” Barret grumbled with the others behind them yet there were no chocobos with them. “Where are the chocobos?” “All the ones here belong to someone else who just needed to keep them stored here. They wanted us to buy a lure for chocobos for three grand,” Tifa explained with a sigh. “We don’t have that kind of money.” “Why do we even need chocobos? It’s just a swamp. Okay, sure we might get wet but, who cares? It looks like it’s going to rain anyways.” “You don’t know what lives in that swamp do you?” Cloud asked slowly. “I imagine swampy creatures?” “The Midgar Zolom lives in that swamp. It’s a snake that could easily wrap itself around Midgar’s wall at least once. It’s a vicious snake. Whenever anything sets foot in the swamp waters, it can pick up the ripples and is there in a heart beat,” Cloud explained as he looked at the chocobo which still whistled happily. “The only thing you can really see is a dark spot in the water moving towards you. Chocobos can outrun it.”
‘The path is cleared.’
That voice again. Terasu closed her eyes and looked towards the west. Nobody else was here to have said that yet, she had heard it clearly. Perhaps she really was hearing voices? “I…I don’t think we’d have to worry about the snake,” Tersau said starting off towards the swamp. “You want to see it for yourself or something? There’s no way to get across without a chocobo if you don’t want to be eaten,” Cloud warned.
‘Come. The path is cleared.’
“Come on. Something is telling me that it’ll be fine. Trust me,” Terasu muttered. She was asking them to trust her and yet she did not even trust this voice that she was hearing. “If the snake is there, then we’ll just come back to rest here. Okay?” “What can it hurt?” Nanaki asked starting off towards the swamp as did Terasu. “Fine. Let’s just make it fast so we don’t get caught in the rain,” Cloud grumbled with a roll of his eyes. What did this woman know if anything? She though Sephiroth to be a friend or something when he was a mass murderer and destroyer of his hometown. What could be friendly about that person? It did not take too long for the group to reach the edge of the swamp where they stood for a little while. Terasu felt as if she could breathe a little easier around here, finally having arrived. That feeling of being drawn had finally calmed down though she still felt as if she was being pulled somewhat. “Come on,” she waved, starting off, avoiding the deep area that she could see. Much to the surprise of the group, no shadow came for them. There was no hissing noise as they crossed and no feeling of imminent doom, at least, not until they finished crossing the swamp. By the time they reached the opening of the Mythril Mines, a shadow had pulled close towards the edge of the swamp though no closer. The shadow seemed to continue forever though that only kept Terasu’s attention for a mere moment. Decorating a tree near the entrance of the mines was a snake, the one of the size that Cloud had described. No branches remained on the bloodstained spike of the tree which had pierced through the head of the snake, whose tail still flung about. “What da hell is this?” Barret yelled, surprised by the finding. “What kind of retarded thing was we worried about?!” “No. Take a closer look at it,” Cloud said pointing at the body of the snake. “It’s lined with cuts, deep ones. The Zolom doesn’t like to come out of the swamp’s waters in the first place.” “Are you trying to say…?” “Sephiroth. First Midgar, now here. It’s like he’s leaving a trail of destruction,” Cloud answered. “But, how did you know?” All eyes turned towards Terasu. “I…I don’t really know.” “Not like it matters,” Nanaki finally said breaking the tensions. “We can go to Junon now. The path is clear. All we have to do is go through the mines.” “What if Sephiroth is in there?” Aeris asked quietly.

VI: What am I?
The mines were cold, dark, and damp making some of the group members wish they had held off going into the mines until they were better prepared. Cloud, Nanaki, and Terasu were at the front of the group as they three of them were able to see a little better than the others. “This way,” Cloud said pointing to the right. “I think we should go straight,” Terasu argued. “Do you know the way around here?” “Do you?” Cloud growled quietly and shook his head. They both did not know exactly where they were going yet, they were getting frustrated with each other. “Listen, we’re going this way. Just trust me,” Cloud grumbled turning towards the right. Terasu remained silent as the rest of the group followed after Cloud. “What’s wrong?” Nanaki asked as he watched Terasu looking down the way she had wanted to go. “I’m just…” Terasu shook her head. “Let’s go. They need your fire, right?” “I suppose,” Nanaki said giving a shrug as best as he could. The two wandered back up towards the front of the group with Cloud and soon they came upon an area well lit by lights that been left behind by miners. Apparently the lights were powered by wires that ran all the way back through the mines to Kalm. For a while they sat in there, attempting to plan where they would be going next when they got out of the mines. “We’ll pass by Fort Condor, and make our way over to Junon. We’ll rest there for the night. Hopefully, after that, we can manage to find a ship and get on it. What we saw outside was proof that Sephiroth was here-“ “And still is!” The arrogant voice rang out through the mines causing the entire group to be on alert and to quickly arm themselves. “At least according to our people.” “Up there!” Aeris said pointing quickly to a ledge that hung above them. “Tseng!” “All of Midgar’s most wanted plus one. An interesting find.” The young, black haired man placed his hands in his pockets as he stared down at the large group. “Thanks to you, we’re down a member.” “Reno was severely injured at the support when fighting you guys.” “Rude too,” Cloud muttered quietly. “Should we take them in?” A feminine voice called from down below, near the group. A few of the members turned to see a blonde, dressed like the rest of the Turks with her pistol drawn already and aimed at Nanaki, apparently having a distaste for animals. “No,” Tseng called with a shake of his head. “Our orders are clear. We’re to find Sephiroth first and deal with these scum later.” “Whatever you say, Tseng,” Elena replied with a slight shrug. “Anyways, I’ve checked up ahead. No sign of Sephiroth still being in the mines. There are indications of having passed through though.” “This is no good,” Tseng muttered. “We’re leaving. Move out – regroup in Junon.” “Yes sir,” the other two Turks replied. “Consider yourselves lucky for now. Next time you probably won’t be so fortunate,” Tseng warned before turning away from the edge and disappearing into the darkness of the mines. “That was odd,” Tifa muttered. “But it only helps prove that Sephiroth is alive,” Cloud said quietly. “Well. I ain’ waitin’ around for either ShinRa or Sephiroth to get that Promise Land! Let’s get goin’!” Barret yelled as he started running towards the obvious exit of the mines from which sunlight shined. “Agreed,” Nanaki said hurrying after Barret.
‘So many people in the way.’
Terasu stood still and shook her head. So many words were buzzing through her head yet those were the clearest ones to her. “You coming?” Tifa asked tilting her head. “Yes. Sorry,” Terasu muttered following after the rest of the group and emerging into orange light of the sun which was nearing setting. “To Junon, correct?” “Yeah. It shouldn’t take too long to get there, so we’re just going to go there and hopefully get there by sundown,” Tifa explained as she and Terasu followed the others. The order of walking changed continuously and soon ended up with two groups of three walking, back in the groups which they had left Midgar with. “I was speaking with Aeris about your number,” Nanaki said as he poked Terasu’s hand with his cold damn nose. “She said there were people in the slums of Midgar who had numbers on their hands.” “I only spoke with one of them – at least attempted to. But the numbers on their hands were similar to the one you have. I don’t remember the guy’s number though. He couldn’t really talk though,” Aeris said looking down towards her feet. “Couldn’t really talk?” “He could only mutter things. One time he muttered something about a reunion – I thought he was talking about a family reunion, so I tried to figure out if his family was coming. He didn’t have any family though. Other than that, most of his ramblings were incoherent,” she explained quietly. “Did he ever say anything about voices?” “Voices? No.” “Then I don’t think we’re in the same boat.” “Hm?” Aeris tilted her head to the side somewhat. “Listen, you can’t tell the others, alright? But the only reason why I thought of crossing the marshes was because something told me to. I’ve had this voice just saying random things ever since I woke up. Most of the time I can’t understand it, it’s just so much at once. Only on occasions can I understand it. Such as to go to the marshes.” “Hmm.” Aeris put a hand to her chin. “I hear random talking all the time. Most of the time I can’t make it out either.” She fell silent for a moment before nodding. “Maybe you’re an Ancient too!” She finally declared. “I don’t think so Aeris,” Terasu muttered. “That would make you, me and Sephiroth the last Ancients!” “I really don’t think that’s the case.” “Think about it! I hear voices of the earth. Maybe that’s what you’re hearing. Not like you would remember either considering your amnesia.” “It does sound plausible at the least,” Nanaki said with a nod. “Is there any way for us to really find out though? I don’t think so,” Terasu said shaking her head. She sighed only to take in a deep breath and gag. “What the hell is that smell?!” “Strong enough to almost knock me out,” Nanaki grumbled shaking his head. “That’s the smell of Junon,” Cloud called over his shoulder. “A city of pollution as a result of Midgar. All of smoke from the mako comes down here.” “This place is a ghost town,” Tifa muttered. “It reminds me of the slums too.” “Let’s try to find a place to rest for the night. In the morning we go and find a ship,” Cloud said quietly. Slowly the group fanned out through the city of Junon which was hidden under the shadow of the city of a base that was built above the city, supporting the cannon that was made in order to defend from possible fleets coming from the west. There was no sign of a hotel or anything of the sorts in the city and soon the group found themselves standing on the shore of the beach, attempting to think of where to go. “Hey! Mister – Dolphin!” Terasu glanced over her shoulder and spotted a young girl who stood with her feet in the dirty water, waving towards a dolphin that was splashing around. “Cute,” she said quietly though it drew the attention of the rest of the group. Maybe she knows where we can go? Hey!” The young girl froze and feel silent hearing Terasu. “Are you guys from ShinRa?! Get away! Go away Mister Dolphin!” The little girl cried attempting to shoo away the dolphin. “Go away ShinRa people!” “We aren’t with ShinRa-“ The squeaking of the dolphin cut off Cloud before he could finish. “What the hell is that thing?” A serpent-like creature with arms, and what seemed to be melting flesh, approached. “Run away Mister Dolphin!” The little girl yelled, running out in the water only to be tossed aside by an arm of the water creature which was obviously in its current state due to the pollution of the waters. Being as she was the closest one, Terasu sprinted towards the side where the girl was flung and managed to catch the water though they both ended up falling in the shallow water. “She’s out cold-“ “We’ve got other issues to worry about!” Nanaki barked quickly. “It’s advancing!” “Terasu, you take care of the girl. We’ll take care of this thing.” Terasu nodded towards Cloud as she slowly stood up and got out of the water, carrying the young girl up the beach. As the others attempted to force the creature to retreat, Terasu felt for the girl’s pulse. She could still feel it thankfully. “Aeris, give me one of your healing materia!” Terasu called though it became apparent soon enough that Aeris had not heard her. “Well, she should be fine anyways,” she muttered watching over the young girl. Soon enough, the serpent-like fish withdrew from the shoreline. “Priscilla! Oh god!” Everyone turned to watch an elderly man hobble down the beach. “What happened?!” “Nothing too bad. It could have been worse. She’ll probably just need to rest for a little while. That fish just tossed her aside like a rag doll,” Terasu explained as the elderly man stood beside her. “Thank goodness you were here! That girl doesn’t listen to me sometimes!” “Ugh…” The young girl named Priscilla groaned quietly. “She’ll be fine,” Aeris said giving a smile finally. “Thank you,” the elderly man said giving a sigh finally picking up the girl himself. “I’ll take her home now.” “What a way ta thank us,” Barret grumbled. “Didn’ even offer us a place ta stay.” “Looks like we’ll just find a place to camp out,” Tifa muttered shaking her head. “Let’s just get again from what water at least. Don’t need anymore mutated fish coming up and trying to eat us,” Cloud said rubbing his head. “Come on.” Quietly the six trudged through the town until they were stopped by a woman at a house who waved them down with her broom in her free hand. “Come on over here,” she called towards them. Reluctantly, they moved on over towards her in order to hear what she had to say even though they believed that she was just thinking them to be ShinRa troops as Priscilla had done. “I heard what happened at the beach with Priscilla. I know it isn’t much to offer you guys for saving her life and all but, feel free to use my house if you need a place to stay.” “Now that’s what I’m talking about!” Barret said loudly with a smirk. “Won’t mind if we do, ma’am,” he said walking into the house after she opened the door for them. “Thank you very much,” Aeris said giving a slight bow of the head towards the woman. “No no. Thank you for helping Priscilla,” “Let’s get some sleep guys,” Cloud called towards the others as they filed into the guest room, each of them figuring out where they would sleep. “We’re going to have to find us a ship tomorrow or else we’re going to fall far behind Sephiroth and ShinRa on top of that.” As everyone said their goodnights, Terasu made herself comfortable on the woman’s couch attempting to think about what Aeris had suggested. Was it possible for her to be an Ancient like she had said? Terasu closed her eyes. Perhaps. If Aeris heard the same voices then it would make sense, would it not? Carefully, Terasu pulled the think sheet up over her and attempted to find the most comfortable position on the couch. What would that mean though if she was one? What if she was simply crazy though? There were simply too many questions.
‘Soon.’
‘Who are you?’ Terasu thought to herself, squinting her eyes closed for the time being, attempting to silence the voices and maybe clear things up within herself.
‘You’ll find out soon…’
‘I want an answer now!’ Nothing. Just that constant murmering in the back of her head continued without any clear answer for her question.

VII: Disguise
Loud booms of music shook every house on the lower part of Junon, waking everyone and causing the dishes and such to rattle about. Terasu opened her eyes tiredly not wanting to accept the fact that the night had already passed. It had only seemed like five minutes. Perhaps it was simply due to how long the day was yesterday? She sat up and stretched her arms, yawning quietly, only to search for the others rather tiredly. For some reason, the loud music did not disturb her too much. Perhaps it was simply due to the fact that she was still rather groggy? Terasu got up and watched one of the glass cups on the table bounce around with every beat of the music. Carefully she slid it towards the center of the table. She looked around though she found the house to be empty. Perhaps the music had alerted the others to a higher degree than it had her? She finally exited the rather creaky house . One the porch of the house, she found the others staring upwards towards the ShinRa fortress that marked the town with the cannon which was larger than anything she had ever seen. Even from the ground, where she stood she could read the letters that were printed on the side of the cannon: ‘The Sister Ray’. “Hey. About time you woke up.” Terasu’s attention was drawn from the cannon to the familiar voice of Cloud. She had been around this group long enough that she could now tell their voices apart, even Tifa and Aeris which were similar to a degree with their sweetness. “You want to go visit Priscilla?” “That girl from yesterday? Is she alright?” “Aeris said that she woke up this morning. I was about to go visit her to make sure she was alright.” “That seems a little nice for you,” Terasu teased with a smirk. “But yeah. I’ll go with you. Do you know which…house it is?” Terasu had hesitated to call most of the buildings here houses due to the fact that most of them resembled simple shacks. “Come on, I’ll show you.” “Where are the others?” “Attempting to figure out what’s all the noise about. Barret was just freaking out about it. He was running around like chicken with its head cut off.” Terasu nodded and followed after Cloud until they came to one of the few two story houses of Junon. As Cloud set his foot on the first step to go up, the metal door of the top floor swung open. From the house came the young burnet named Priscilla who seemed to be perfectly fine. She looked down towards both Terasu and Cloud and quickly bowed her head downward as she climbed down the stairs. “Thank you,” she said quietly towards Cloud and Terasu. “I heard that you guys helped both me and Mister Dolphin. I didn’t mean to be rude – I just…I don’t like ShinRa.” “We can relate,” Cloud said with a nod towards the girl. “Papa told me that I should try to do something to thank you for saving me. So, here. Take this!” The girl held out her hand, a red sphere towards Cloud. “A summon?” Terasu asked quietly as Cloud took the materia. “That’s my lucky amulet! So you better take care of it!” Priscilla said quickly folding her arms. “Thank you,” Cloud said giving a smile as best as he could towards the young girl. “You’re welcome.” “Could you tell us what the music is for?” Terasu finally asked as Cloud looked at the materia figuring that the girl did not know its true value or how to use the materia. “Apparently there’s a ceremony for the new ShinRa president,” Priscilla grumbled with a scowl. “Can’t stand ShinRa.” “That’s what we’re sayin’ too.” The deep voice of Barret caused both Cloud and Terasu to turn around. With Barret stood the other three of the group. “Rufus is coming. But I thought ya kicked Rufus’ a**, Cloud?” “He got away,” Cloud muttered shaking his head slowly. “So wait. Does this mean that Rufus is going…To the western continent?” “Would that mean that Sephiroth is going there if not already there?” Cloud asked quickly after thinking about Aeris’ question. “We gotta get up inta the ShinRa base then!” Barret said stomping his foot. “There’s the elevator,” Tifa said though she shook her head quickly. “But, that’s blocked by guards. So that’s a no go.” “Maybe we should go up that tower at the beach? Ya know, the one that leads to the base?” “Oh no! That’s got an electrical current running up it about half way up! You guys would be killed!” The young girl shook her head quickly towards them. “So then what are we gonna do?” Barret asked quickly as he folded his arms. “Mister Dolphin might be able to help you!” All eyes turned to Priscilla who nodded. “Come on! Follow me!” She said as she started off towards the beach. “The dolphin?” Cloud asked tilting his head somewhat. “We have to go see if it will at least work,” Tifa said as she hurried after Priscilla. Soon the five arrived at the beach where they found Priscilla standing at the shore again. “Well. High voltage tower?” Tifa asked giving a sigh as she looked at it. “Guess that means Cloud will be alright!” “Wha-“ “Yep!” Aeris said giving a nod. “Better leave it to Cloud.” “But-“ “We’re counting on you Cloud,” Nanaki said giving his toothy grin towards Cloud. Terasu merely shrugged as Cloud looked towards her finally. “I guess I’ll go with you.” The sharp shrill of a whistle caught everyone’s attention. They looked over in time to spot the dolphin as it leapt from the water, jumping above the girder of the tower. “Holy s**t. I ain’ never seen no dolphin jump like that!” Barret yelled. “Yeah. Mister Dolphin is cool like that. He’ll jump when I blow the whistle.” Priscilla turned towards Cloud who was followed by Terasu. “Here,” she said holding out the whistle to Cloud. Just blow it when you get in the water and Mister Dolphin will swim up to you and jump you up towards that ladder that hangs down,” she said pointing up towards the tower. “Alright. Do you want to go first?” He asked glancing towards Terasu who shook her head. “Not really.” “Hey!” Tifa yelled towards the two of them. “Make sure to try to find a way for us to get in, okay?!” “Okay,” Cloud nodded. “Sure you don’t want to go first?” He asked again towards Terasu. “I’m pretty sure.” “Guess I’ll go then,” he said tossing the whistle towards Terasu as he waded out in the water a good ways before glancing towards Terasu, waiting for her to blow the whistle. Again, the sharp shrill of the whistle broke was stillness there was at the beach now that the music was not as loud. The dolphin swam up towards Cloud and waited until he had taken a hold of the dorsal fin. Soon the dolphin took to the air once more and Cloud reached out his hand and took hold of the last step of the ladder. Finally he set to climbing up the ladder, not waiting for Terasu for the time being. “Later guys,” Terasu called over her shoulder towards the others as she followed Cloud’s example. She gave the whistle another blow and the dolphin swam towards her. Again, she took hold of the dorsal fin as she had seen Cloud do. She kept her eyes closed as the water splashed against her face as the dolphin ripped through the water. Only when she felt the wind did she open her eyes – just in time to see the ladder. Quickly she threw out her left hand and caught hold of the ladder and set to climbing up it. After climbing the ladder for what seemed to be eternity, Terasu pushed open the small cover and climbed out onto the lowest level of the dock and found Cloud waiting for her. “Lets try to be careful,” Cloud said quietly, helping her up. “Whoa,” Terasu stared towards the large airship that hovered above the two of them. “Come on.” Terasu nodded towards Cloud and followed after him. They moved towards the closest door and entered quickly. Once inside, the hum of the airship’s engines was dulled and the music could be heard faintly. The two froze as three soldiers marched past them. “Looks like we’re clear now,” Cloud said as they marched by. He took a step out and entered the main hall. “Hey!” Cloud spun around quickly hearing another man’s voice. “You’re still dressed like that?! Come here!” Terasu watched as Cloud was dragged off towards a room. As he was dragged off, Terasu followed behind them quietly and watched as they entered a locker room. “Hurry up and get changed!” Cloud spotted Terasu peeking through the door and gave a quick wave, attempting to shoo her, apparently either not wanting to change in front of her or wanting her to not get caught like he had. She glanced over her shoulder and there was no sign of anyone near her at all. However, the idea of changing had given her an idea. Quietly she turned away and snuck off in order to go through with her plans. Terasu hid in a storage closet and watched as the Shinra soldiers and captain who had mistaken Cloud to be one of their own run past. Slowly she came from the closet and entered the locker room and looked around. Perhaps something useful would be here? She smiled as she saw a red suit hanging in one of the lockers she had opened. The same as the one the captain had been wearing. Quickly Terasu threw on the clothing over what she was currently wearing. It took her a while to even get the large golden buttons which lined the jacket from the color down to slip through their holes. However, after she had gotten all the large, decorative buttons in place, it was fairly easy to get dressed in the rest of the outfit. For once in her life she was thankful for her average chest as the jacket as so thick and rather stiff that it hid the fact that she was a woman rather well. Finally she grabbed the large red hat that was left in the locker and put it on only to tuck her long hair into it. She exited the locker room and heard a few of the soldiers talking with each other. “Where are they doing Rufus’ Junon Military Reception? I kind of wanted to see it.” “At the boat. But why do you want to waste your time seeing that?” “Apparently one of the members of the reception crew was late today. Didn’t you see it? They had to sneak into the parade lines!” She had heard enough. The boats. That’s where she and the others needed to meet. Following some of the signs, she found her way to the elevator that led to the lower levels of Junon. On the way down, she adjusted her hat, pulling on the visor of it to hide some of her face. Finally a soft ding came from the elevator and the doors opened. “Captain?” The two soldiers that had been guarding the door turned around to face her out of confusion. “You two are dismissed for now. They need all hands to help prepare for President Rufus’ leaving.” “Yes sir!” The two saluted her and ran into the elevator. Terasu watched as the elevator doors closed and start going up. She turned back around towards the lower level of Junon and spotted the group only a small distance away. Terasu removed her hat and ran on over towards the remaining four of the group. “You guys ready to go?” Terasu asked as she got closer to them. “Nice outfit,” Tifa laughed looking Terasu up and down. “What are ya dressed like that for?” Barret complained. “The color is nice,” Nanaki said giving a slight chuckle. “So what is the plan?” “I’m going to sneak you guys onto the boat after dressing you guys up like sailors,” Terasu explained quickly. “Come on.” In no time, the group was roaming about the base and Terasu had managed to find sailor outfits for all of them in a lone locker room. As soon as they exited the room, dressed in white sailor outfits, another captain-dressed man walked by Terasu, who had thankfully remembered to put on her hat. “What are you still doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the engine room?” “Pardon?” Terasu asked, completely caught off guard. “Of the ship?” “Oh yes. I was just waiting for some of the crew members to get ready. “Well, hurry up.” Terasu watched as the man walked away and glanced towards everyone else. “Isn’t this so much fun?” “Not really!” Red XIII growled as he stumbled along, walking on two feet before falling on all fours again. “I’m no good standing on two feet!” “You’ll have to when we’re around people. And if people ask why you’re stumbling, just tell them you’ve come down with a bad case of sea sickness,” Terasu said quickly. “Now, we’ve got to catch that boat.”
The five arrived at the ship just as Rufus boarded the ship. They glanced towards Cloud who was being confronted by Heidegger of ShinRa. “I’ll watch and see if he’ll need any help,” Nanaki whispered as he planted himself down behind a large crate where he kept an eye on Cloud. “Hey! Get your butt in the engine room! We’re about to leave!” Another captain yelled towards Terasu when they came into the haul of the ship. “Catch you guys later. Remember, this is an undercover operation, okay?” Terasu reminded softly while looking towards Barret. “Yeah, yeah. I know. Don’ do nothin’ stupid. I got it.” “Then be a good marshmallow,” Terasu teased as she hurried to get behind the captain towards the engine room.

VIII: Trail of Blood
Cloud looked across the deck towards Nanaki, whom he had met upon boarding the ship. The canine-like creature was now standing up on his two hind legs with his front paws on the railing of the front of the ship, attempting to appear more human.
“Red XIII? What? How did you get here?” “We had help from a person dressed in red.” “You?” “Haha!” Nanaki had laughed quietly. “No. Terasu dressed up like a captain. She managed to get us in.” “Oh. So everyone’s here then?” Cloud questioned, rather surprised. “Indeed,” Nanaki said nodding. “How are you going to pull this off though, Red XIII?” “Very carefully, I hope.” Though he stood out here on the deck and knew that some of the people out here were from his group, Cloud could not identify a single one of them save for Nanaki due to him having his tail wrapped around his waist. But apparently they were all here, safe and sound. Cloud let out a long breath as he ventured towards the side of the large ship and leaned on the railing there, feeling the sea breeze brush against his face and the sun gently shining down. How he wished that this all could simply be a cruise. Giving a slight sigh, Cloud adjusted the helmet he wore for his disguise, attempting to let the breeze cool his head down somewhat. From the corner of his eye he spotted a sailor rocking back and forth on their feet whistling. He sat and stared at the sailor, mainly due to having nothing better to do. Finally the sailor spotted him and seemed to be somewhat alerted only to slide down towards Cloud. “Hey.” Cloud immediately recognized the voice as Tifa’s. “Tifa?!” He questioned quickly, surprised that he had not recognized her. “Yep. How’s it going?” “Pretty decently I suppose. Just hoping that we get to the other continent pretty quickly without too much trouble.” Tifa nodded slowly in agreement. “Where are the others?” “Um. We’re just kind of spread out really considering that we were stationed at certain places by that sailor selling the drinks.” “Hm.” “I know Aeris is over there,” Tifa said pointing towards Aeris who was directly across from them in her sailor uniform. Tifa gave a wave only for Aeris to return it quickly. “And, Red XIII is over there,” she said looking towards Nanaki towards the front. “What about Barret? I’m worried that he’ll do something stupid.” “You aren’t the only one. He’s upstairs. Not inside but monitoring the top level of the deck.” “Should I go check on him?” “He’ll get pissed but you should.” “And what about Terasu?” “She’s in the engine room. We haven’t seen her since though.” Cloud nodded slowly. “Alright. Later Tifa. Keep an eye on everyone down here for me, will you?” “Will do,” she basically sang in reply as Cloud started off to go to the upper level of the ship. Before he could even reach the top of the stairs, he could hear Barret marching around. “I hate moppin’! I didn’ do it at home, I ain’ doin’ it here,” he grumbled letting the mop drop to the ground. He turned around quickly as Cloud came up to the top only to grumble somewhat and pick up the broom. Cloud smirked behind the green fabric collar of his uniform: this was his chance to get back at Barret for being so annoying and such a pain at times. “Is there a problem?” “I ain’ got no problem!” Barret grumbled. “I’m moppin’,” he grunted as he picked up his mop. “Jus’ dropped it.” “Glad to hear it. I don’t think it’d be a good day to decide to just stop working.” “Yeah? And why’s that?” Barret asked not even noticing that who he was talking to was Cloud himself. “Because Rufus is on the ship.” The mop handle snapped in Barret’s lone hand out of frustration. “I don’ give a damn about Rufus!” “Should you be saying that?” “I don’ care! Screw you!” Barret yelled aiming his gun towards Cloud. “Barret, you would have just screwed us all over,” Cloud muttered taking off his helmet with a sigh. “Don’t do that. Okay?” “You and Terasu keep tellin’ me that. I ain’ going to screw it up,” he muttered folding his arms. “How are you holding up?” “Meh. Decently considering Rufus keeps walking in and out of there,” Barret said pointing behind him meeting room that rested on the top of the level and was enclosed in glass. Inside sat Rufus and Heidegger however, their words were not able to be heard through the glass. “Jus’ watching him makes me mad! I jus’ want to break his little scrawny, punk, neck!” “Calm down Barret. We just got to reach the other side without getting discovered. Think you can manage?” “Yeah. Sorry,” Barret sighed quietly. “I’m kind of worried about Terasu because none of us can check on her. Only captains are allowed in that room,” he explained.
Terasu had simply taken a position near several of the pressure gauges near the side of the large engine. The whole room vibrated due to the powerful engine which was so loud that she had a problem hearing the captains when they asked her for an update with the pressure. She had no idea what the average level was for the ship nor what she was supposed to be looking at. However, she simply figured that if the needle was in the green area and not the red that everything was fine. While monitoring the pressure gauges was fairly easy, just watching them was extremely boring. “You sigh a lot,” one of the captains in the engine room informed her. Had she really been sighing? Probably she figured. “Never really thought about it,” she muttered figuring that not replying would make her look suspicious. “Nervous?” “Bored.” “Oh. Heh. You do have the most boring job. Never seen you before.” “Oh.” “Where you from? Your name?” “Midgar. Navos,” she said giving her last name as she was unable to think of a name at the moment. “Midgar, eh? How’s it like there? I haven’t been there in a while.” “Meh. Chaotic.” “So I hear.” The captain fell silent feeling that his fellow ‘captain’ Navos did not wish to really speak. “Is it true that Sephiroth came back?” Terasu was in the middle of shrugging when a scream could be faintly heard in the engine room. Quickly all present in the room made eye contact with each other and found that all three were still present and not in any pain. “I’ll go check it out,” he said glancing down towards Terasu before hurrying out of the engine room. Carefully, Terasu pushed herself off the wall she had been leaning on and began to reach for her waist to find her kodachi’s handle. “Go on upstairs and see if you see anything odd through the windows up there,” the other captain in the room told Terasu as he pointed up towards the second level of the engine room which had two small windows to see the haul of the ship. She gave a simple nod and hurried up the stairs, the grating gently rattling with every step she took. As she peered out of the window, red lights began to flash. However, even though the red lights flashed, the blood that stained the main haul’s floor was rather obvious to see. “What’s going on?” At the same time he asked the question, so many voices popped into her head once again, louder this time. “They’re dead!” She yelled due to what she was hearing. “All of them!” “Alert! A suspicious person has been seen aboard the ship. All are to attempt to locate suspicious character at once. I repeat: Alert! A suspicious person has been seen aboard the ship. All are to attempt to locate suspicious character at once!” “What do you mean they’re all dead?!” “So much blood,” Terasu muttered quietly while shaking her head. “So much blood.” “What are you talking about?!” The captain ran towards automatic doors to leave the engine room to see for himself what Terasu was talking about. However, before he could even get too close to the doors they opened. “So it was true-“ Before the captain could even finish getting his sentence out a sword was driven through him rather quickly. “So many people in our way today.” Terasu watched in horror as the blade was withdrawn from the captain. “Surrounded by so many of these worthless people.” The voice alone lit up so many emotions and confusion at once. “Sephiroth?” She asked quietly as he entered the engine room, giving his long sword a flick to the side, causing the blood to fly off it. “But two aren’t so pathetic,” he said softly finally looking up towards Terasu on the second level. Slowly he started up the stairs only to watch Terasu stay still for the most part. “What are you doing?” She asked quickly as he reached the top stair, now backing away from him. “I thought…I thought you…” Terasu found herself at a loss for words as a ringing in her ears replaced the voices. Quickly she turned away from him and started to run the opposite way. “Running away?” She stopped as Sephiroth appeared in front of her, though she quickly altered her course and turned away only to start down the stairs as she recalled Cloud’s story of five years ago. Terasu attempted to run towards the door only for him to cut her off there. His god-like speed would beat her every time she attempted to flee from him. “What do you want?!” She asked as she backed away from him, closer towards the engine. “The time,” Sephiroth said calmly as his silvery hair seemed to flow behind him with every long step he took towards her. “The time has come for us the reclaim this planet.” “What are you talking about?” Terasu asked quietly as it seemed all other noises faded away and she could only seem to hear her and Sephiroth talking. “You know what I’m talking about,” he said slowly as he leaned over her. “The time has come after my long sleep, the time for the reunion has come,” Sephiroth said placing a hand on her on her shoulder with a smile of sorts on his lips. Just as suddenly as the voices had stopped they rushed back into her head though louder than even before.
“Alert! A suspicious person has been seen aboard the ship! All are to attempt to locate suspicious character at once. I repeat: Alert! A suspicious person has been seen aboard the ship! All are to attempt to locate suspicious character at once!” “Think that’s us?” Cloud asked looking towards Barret rather confused. “I don’ think so. Let’s go meet up with the others,” Barret said quickly only to start down the stairs without Cloud. Once the two reached the bottom, they found the others, minus Terasu, there waiting. “I don’t think it was us,” Tifa said quickly seeming to read the worried look in Cloud’s eyes. “Then maybe…” Cloud trailed off before finally nodding slowly. “Sephiroth.” The others nodded in reply. “Let’s lose these disguises –“ “Finally! Now you guys can stop callin’ me marshmallow!” Quickly everyone took off the clothing they wore over their normal clothing. “Now let’s going to find that punk!” Barret grumbled. “Well. We know that he’s not up here at all. That only leaves downstairs.” “I hope Terasu’s okay. Let’s go!” Aeris said moving towards the door that led downstairs. As they climbed down the stairs, only silence welcomed them and the rancid air. “This is Sephiroth’s work. It has to be,” Cloud said with a nod seeing a trails of blood and pools of it covering the floor. “It goes to the engine room!” Aeris said hurrying towards the door only for it to slide open in front of her. The group joined her only to see a person dressed in red falling to their knees, holding their head with both of their hands. “Is that Terasu?” Cloud asked quickly only for Aeris to nod and hurry towards Terasu. “He might still be around.” “After a long sleep.” There was a pause yet the rattling of grating filled that silence. Everyone in the group found themselves searching for the voice. “The time has finally come.” They finally spotted Sephiroth as the red lets flashed once more, illuminating where he stood. “Sephiroth! You’re alive!” Cloud growled as he drew his weapon from his back. He had been wanting to not believe that Sephiroth was not alive but here was the proof before him. “Who…Are you?” Sephiroth asked, tilting his head as he climbed down the stairs ever so slowly. With each step down he went, everyone backed up a step. “You don’t remember me?!” Cloud yelled getting rather angry. “I’m Cloud! From five years ago!” “Cloud….” Sephiroth trailed off, seemingly to attempt to recall the name only to gently shake his head. “What are you thinking?! What are you doing?!” Cloud finally demanded. “The time is now,” Sephiroth answered simply enough with a quiet laugh while lifting his hand above his head. “Mother wishes to send her regards,” he said quietly. The floor before the group seemed to ripple and from it came a tentacle flowed by several other large ones which pressed down on the floor. From what seemed to be another worldly portal rose a hideous creature with a disturbing purple and blue colored skin. The head seemed to be that of a woman and the head even led to the body of a woman which seemed to be getting pulled into the body of a monster that lacked true arms. Instead, the arms looked like coral, the shoulders even almost touching the ceiling. It opened it’s mouth with a shriek only to leave it hanging open. “This isn’t going to be good,” Nanaki said quickly. “That’s Jenova!” He yelled with a growl as from the mouth of Jenova came a brilliant blue laser which burned an opening in the doors behind most of the group. “Aeris, take care of Terasu!” Cloud yelled. “We’ll handle this.”

Sadly this is the last chapter I have finished... ------ IX: A Little R and R
Terasu opened her eyes quickly and did not even take the time to look around her to observe her surroundings. She reached for her left waist side quickly though found that her kodachi was not there. Finally she looked around and noticed that she was sitting in a bed with wooden walls around her. But where? What had happened on the ship? With Sephiroth?! What had happened to the others?! Terasu only looked to her left when she heard what sounded like a door to be opening up. Aeris entered the room only to be taken back somewhat by Terasu being awake, let alone her standing up. “Good to see that you’re up finally! We were worried about you!” “What happened? Where are we?” Terasu asked quickly as Aeris took in a deep breath. “Well, you passed out.” Terasu closed her eyes and shook her head slowly. She remembered that much. The voices were so over powering that they caused her to have a massive headache and create utter chaos in her mind. “Then we had to fight off this crazy Jenova thing that Sephiroth summoned.” “So I wasn’t just losing my mind. That really was him?” Aeris nodded slowly towards Terasu. “It sounded like him though something seemed lost. Like…It was cold.” “He didn’t remember Cloud,” Aeris said tilting her head to the side somewhat as she studied Terasu’s rather somber expression. “You seem disappointed,” she said slowly. “Is it because of him?” Terasu sighed in reply at first and sat down on the bed as Aeris made her way towards the other side of the bed. “I…I didn’t want to believe Cloud. That wasn’t the Sephiroth I knew,” she said quietly as she bowed her head downwards. “You know. I can remember sitting there with him on that hillside and everything just seeming…Perfect. How silly.” Terasu shook her head again slowly. “There was something about him that made me feel safe in a way.” Aeris nodded in an understanding fashion as her friend took a deep breath. “I just feel…Lost.” “I know that safe feeling with people,” Aeris said in attempt to calm Terasu though she found that she was going in a completely different direction with her next words. “Perhaps there was something more between you two that you can’t remember?” “No,” Terasu answered quickly shaking her head. “I remember that much. It was professional between us and nothing more.” “Of course,” Aeris said with a smile. “Well. Since you’re awake you can join everyone then! Well, at least Tifa and myself for right now.” “What are you guys doing?” “We’re going shopping!” “Shopping?” “Yep. We decided we would have a beach party today. With all the stuff we’ve had to put up with – we decided today we can just kind of relax a little bit.” “Beach?” “Yep! We’re at Costa del Sol! We’ve got to go to the beach! It’s so pretty!” Aeris said turning for the door. “Aeris, wait.” Aeris stopped and looked over her shoulder towards Terasu. “I’m sorry about what happened on the ship. I feel like I’m nothing more than a burden to you guys sometimes-“ “If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have been on that ship to help. So don’t worry about it!” “But there’s something else. You…You remember about the voices we talked about?” Terasu asked quietly only for Aeris to close the door somewhat behind her. “Mhmm.” “How do you deal with them? When they’re loud?” “Is that what happened?” “It was just too much. I couldn’t think straight at all. They were so overwhelming.” “Well, I’ve never had that happen to me,” Aeris said slowly as she tilted her head to the side. “I can barely hear the voices.” “How? They sound like they’re standing right next to me or something when they get louder.” “All I can suggest is just ignoring them or something. I’m sorry.” “But I’ve got another question, Aeris,” Terasu said as she moved over towards Aeris. “Let’s think about this. What if Sephiroth is an Ancient?” “Then, that’s that.” “What does that mean for you though?” “Pardon?” “Listen, you’re an Ancient and he’s one. Shouldn’t you be helping him in a way? I mean, he’s all about restoring the Ancients all together, right?” Aeris sighed and sat down on the bed holding her head downward. “I…I disagree with him. He’s only going to hurt the planet more so. What he’s doing isn’t going to bring back the Ancients. So, no. I don’t think I should be helping him. If he had his way, everyone who cared for me, was my friend, knew me, would be killed. That’s not something I want.” Terasu nodded slowly. “What about you? What if you are an Ancient? What will you do?” “I’m not an Ancient so nothing will change. I want to simply do what’s right.” “If you’re not an Ancient, then what are you?” “I’m a member of SOLDIER,” Terasu replied walking towards the door as Aeris smiled towards her. “So is Cloud but he doesn’t hear voice.” “Psh. Cloud isn’t special then. At least we got something on him, yeah? He may be able to run around swinging a sword but, he doesn’t hear voices like we do.” Aeris simply laughed at Terasu’s comment as the two finally left the room. “So, ready to go get a bathing suit?” “Erm. Not really.” “Oh come on! Tifa and I are going! You come too!” Aeris declared as she grabbed Terasu’s arm and pulled her along.
Cloud sighed quietly as he sat under the large blue and white umbrella, one of the many on the long beautiful beach. He had somehow been roped into going to the beach with the group and now sat in simple black swimming trunks. While he had been ordered to get himself a pair of trunks and not to wear his normal outfit, he had managed to bargain bringing the buster sword to the beach for protection. But those damned girls who had convinced him and Barret to come out here were nowhere to be found. Red XIII had of sided with the girls as it seemed he always did. He had dug himself a nice little hole in the sand where he had buried himself with tail sticking out, looking like a fuse to a bomb of sorts. Barret was out swimming with a plastic bag basically vacuumed sealed on his hand to protect the metal of his gun. How long was that man going to be swimming? Now that Cloud thought about it, had Barret put any sun block lotion on? What did it matter to him though? It would simply be amusing to tease a black man about getting sunburned. “Hello!” Aeris sang as she ran down the stairs towards the sand, waving her hand as she neared Cloud while the other held on a large, floppy straw sun hat and her pink wrap fluttering in the sea breeze, the color of pink perfectly matching the pink bikini top she wore. Cloud merely turned away from Aeris when she ran up towards him, keeping his head bowed downward. “Are you sunburned already?” Aeris asked tilting her head seeing his face being slightly red. “Yeah. I’ve been waiting a while you know,” Cloud said slowly rubbing his face. “Don’t rub it!” “Where are the others? Did Terasu ever get up or is she still…?” “She’s fine.” Aeris paused for a moment having seen a slight look of worry on Cloud’s face before she had said anything. “Aw. You were worried!” “Well of course I was! Sephiroth could have killed her or something. Anyways, where are they?” “They’re coming,” she said turning around to look towards the stairs that led from the city towards the beach. “They were getting changed.” “Well, I hope they hurry up,” Cloud muttered wanting to get off the beach though he suddenly realized that in order to back up his story of actually having a sunburn meant that he would need to get one on his face. “They’ll be here soon. There they are!” Aeris said finally pointing towards the top of the stairs where Tifa and Terasu had appeared. Like Aeris, they wore a wrap around their waists that matched their bathing suit colors: Tifa in a dark red wrap with her top identical in style to Aeris’ while Terasu wore a darker blue one. The three had come to a consensus on buying the cheapest ones there so they could by other things such as the wraps, the hat the Aeris wore, the beach ball Tifa had bought, and the orange tinted sunglasses which Terasu wore. “Good. Now we can hurry up and get out of here. I don’t like just sitting out here while Sephiroth is out there killing everyone.” “Calm down. It’ll be fine,” Aeris assured as Terasu and Tifa arrived at the umbrella. “Sorry that took so long. We were putting sun tan lotion on,” Tifa explained. “Poor Terasu’s so pale though so we aren’t going to be able to spend too much time out here.” “Sorry. Kind of happens when you’re inside for seven years without any real light,” Terasu muttered in reply as she looked around the beach. It was so much cleaner than the one at Junon. “It’s so pretty here,” she said quietly. “That’s because there isn’t a mako reactor around these parts. Nothing to pollute it. The ShinRa president ensured this place would be spared from the pollution so it was serve as a special resort for high ranking employees and SOLDIER,” Cloud explained quietly as he watched Barret come out of the water. “How’s the water?” “Fantastic! I ain’ been to a beach in so long where I could swim,” he said as he plopped down next to Cloud on the blanket that had been sprawled out under the umbrella. “I’m surprised you didn’t sink,” Cloud said looking away from Barret, ensuring that he did not see the anger grow on the bigger man’s face. “I want to go for a walk, the breeze is so nice here,” Terasu said though Cloud and the others failed to hear her due to Barret’s sudden yelling. It was only when she started walking along the shore did any of them notice her gone. “She’s fine. She can take care of herself,” Aeris said with a smirk. “I wouldn’t be so sure of that,” Tifa muttered as Barret and Cloud continued to argue. “So sure about what?” Cloud asked, ignoring any further comments from Barret. It was then that he realized that Terasu was walking along the shore, away from the group, ankle deep in the water. “I don’t think we should let her go walking on her own just yet,” he finally said climbing to his feet. “Oh, let her go Cloud,” Aeris said with a wave of her hand as she took off her hat. “No chance of that,” he answered simply enough as he reached for the handle of his over-sized weapon only for his hand to get swatted with the hat by Aeris. “Don’t walk around the beach with that! People will obviously get suspicious!” “Then what should I do?” “I don’t know. Carry an umbrella with you? Isn’t it about the same size?” “That’s just absurd!” “But it could pass if you want to make sure she’s capable of taking care of herself,” Tifa said as she removed her wrap. “I’m going for a swim though.” “Me too!” Aeris said giving a nod as she also removed the wrap from her waist. “Let’s go! I got the beach ball,” she yelled as she picked up the inflated ball and ran off towards the water ahead of Tifa. “Oh yeah! Come on Barret!” “I guess,” he grumbled getting up from the towel he sat on and hurried after the two girls while Cloud walked after Terasu with the umbrella slung over his shoulder. He finally caught up with her when she had paused to examine a shell she had found. “Did you have to come with me? I promise, I’m a big girl and can take care of myself. I don’t need a body guard like Aeris did,” Terasu joked as she closed one eye in order to observe the shell. “Sorry for being concerned. But after your last episode on the boat-“ “I should be the one apologizing,” she said quietly. “I understand your concern. But I should be fine now. I feel so much more at ease.” “Hey. On the boat, what happened?” “Hm? Oh. That,” she trailed off and shook her head. “I thought you and Sephiroth were friends or something?” “Weren’t you and he as well? Yet he didn’t remember you from what I heard.” “Don’t turn this on me. What happened? Is it anything that is important?” “Well. He’s fast.” “That’s a start.” “Really fast. Um,” Terasu tilted her head to the side while tossing the shell back into the water. She started walking again only for Cloud to follow after her, watching his feet as he followed.“Kept saying about it being time. He kept saying it was time for something to happen. I didn’t really understand it but I felt like I did? It’s hard to explain.” “So wait, did you understand it-“ Cloud stopped short as he bumped into Terasu. “Sorry,” he muttered though he was confused as to why she had stopped so suddenly. “Is that…?” She simply pointed towards one of the many beach chairs that was under one of the umbrellas that matched the one that Cloud carried. “Hm?” Cloud followed her finger until he finally saw the white lab coat which had apparently caught her attention just a moment earlier. “What the hell?! Is that…Hojo?!” “I don’t want to think so but, isn’t that him? Wouldn’t he be the only one to wear a coat on the beach?” “Wait – how do you know him?” “He was one of the doctors who greeted me when I woke up. Something just seems…Off about him. He seemed upset that I could not remember things though not for me. Something just says to stay away from him.” “He’s just a professor.” “How do you know him?” “He…He’s a creepy professor,” Cloud corrected quickly. “Attempted to experiment with Aeris and Red XII. I guess that does kind of yell to stay away from him,” he said slowly. “But what is he doing here?” “Maybe he knows about Sephiroth. After all, he is with ShinRa.” “Yeah,” Cloud nodded and walked towards the Professor who sat with his eyes closed as one of the two women who accompanied him, for some unknown reason though both Cloud and Terasu figured they were both paid to accompany him, rubbed sun block on his cheeks and ensure his glasses were sitting properly on his ears and nose. “Can I help you?” The second girl asked seeing Cloud approaching with Terasu behind him. “Sorry, we’re the only ones tending to the Professor today. We don’t have room for a third or fourth that matter.” “I need to speak with that man.” “Hmph. Professor, someone is here to see you,” she called over her shoulder towards Hojo. “I’m busy right now,” he replied with a smile as he adjusted his glasses. “I’m not asking,” Cloud finally said moving past the girl towards Hojo who sat up slowly as Cloud loomed over him. “Oh. I remember you now. And…All your friends,” he said leaning over towards one side, now watching the others hurry towards the shore in order to see what was going on exactly. “Yes, yes. I remember you,” he said with a sigh. “Pardon me girls, I’ve some business to conduct momentarily.” The two girls got up and left just as the others came up behind Cloud and Terasu. “Well, it’s been a while, Cloud. And even for you Terasu. To be honest, I didn’t expect you to be here today. I thought Sephiroth probably killed you like he did everyone in that building, the forty-ninth floor and up. Lucky, weren’t you?” “I was on the forty eighth floor,” she said quietly. “How observant!” The Professor paused and leaned back in his chair as e realized that Cloud nor the others carried any weapons on them, except for Barret who had busied himself with swimming so he would not even risk taking a shot at Hojo. “Sometimes,” he said rather whimsically; “you’ve just got to do something like this,” he said with a smirk. “What are you doing?” Cloud asked. “It should be obvious. Getting a tan , getting some of that ever longed for R and R of course, what else does one do at Costa del Sol?” He paused for a mere second before beginning to laugh quietly to himself. “Give me a real answer damn it,” Cloud demanded quickly. “We’re after the same goal, aren’t we?” Hojo asked, allowing his glasses to slip down his nose slightly. “You know what I’m talking about.” “Sephiroth,” Terasu finally answered before Cloud had a chance. “Hmm. Did you see him?” Hojo asked only to judge by how Cloud and Terasu looked away from Hojo. “I see! How amusing!” Hojo laughed quietly. “Amusing indeed.” “What is it?” Cloud demanded once more. “Nothing at all. I’m just recalling a paper – a hypothesis to be more precise,” the professor said as he moved his glasses up once more with his sickly pale hand. “Have you…Ever felt as though something is calling you? That you have to go somewhere?” He paused for a moment once more. “That is for both of you by the way.” Cloud did not seem to be as disturbed by the question as Terasu was and merely shook his head. “I’ll go where I need to in order to stop Sephiroth. I’ll beat him and end all of this.” “I see. And what about you?” Terasu remained silent for a moment only for Hojo’s laugh to ring out once more. “Too good. This could get interesting! Would you two like to become specimen for my testing?” It was at that question that Cloud had taken enough of this insane man’s talk and aimed the umbrella threateningly towards the professor. “Is Jenova an Ancient?” Aeris finally asked from behind the two. “What about Sephiroth?” Hojo fell completely silent for a moment only to shake his head and get up from his beach chair. He finally began to mumble to himself though nobody else could understand him. “Go west,” he finally said as he started away from the group. “Hojo-“ “Let him go Cloud,” Terasu said quietly as she adjusted her sunglasses somewhat and turned away from the group, starting back to their belongings. “I think I’ve had enough of the sun for today myself. I’m going back to the hotel,” she said walking along. “I’ll see you there.” “How much you want to bet she’s going after him herself?” Cloud asked tilting his head. “I don’t think so,” Aeris said shaking her head. “Come on, let’s go for a swim already!” Tifa said taking hold of Cloud’s arm. “Just leave the umbrella here. Come on.”
Terasu climbed up the stairs, leaving the beach rather quickly and looking around for Hojo. He could not have gotten too far away. Finally she spotted him moving to the ShinRa resort of the town. “Hojo!” He stopped dead in his tracks and looked over his shoulder. “Not the one I expected to chase me,” he said quietly as Terasu approached him. “What do you want?” “What you said earlier…How did you know?” “Please be more specific. My mind may be a brilliant one, however I can’t understand things when they are completely out of context.” “About…Being called? What do you know?” “I know a great deal of things. However, you weren’t meant to go ahead and run off. So I wonder where you are heading to? Is it…” Hojo trailed off and began to mumble to himself again. “And only you would know about this number,” Terasu said holding up her hand for Hojo to see the black ‘505’ that would remain there forever. “You want to know about that, do you? Next time you see Sephiroth, ask him.” “You would know better than he.” “Is that true?” Hojo put a hand to his chin and tilted his head to the side somewhat as he thought. “I may know what I meant but he and he alone knows what it truly means. All of my understandings are simply hypothesizes and nothing more. But Sephiroth on the other hand may actually know what it all means inside that elusive mind of his. Just follow what you’re told and if all is correct then you should learn the truth.” He turned away from her and opened the door to where he was staying. “If I don’t, I’m coming for you,” Terasu warned as he closed the door behind him.
