Anyone here in a community band? I was thinking about joining a community band and I wonder if anyone here has done it or is in one now. Highschool band was awsome when I was in it a few years ago and I have fond memories of it and I kinda miss playing music with a big group and stuff. Anyways, for those who are in one or have been in one, how is it like? Was it fun?

I have never been in one myself, but I have a good friend who was in a community band before he left for college. He really enjoyed it. The only thing that he ever complained about was the distance he had to travel to get there(our town doesn't have one, he went to another town). The music was tougher, which is always a plus because our school band was way to easy. In high school, our pit band for school plays was open to the community, and I loved it! It's nice, because the people in a community band really put their hearts into the musuc, moreso than a school band, from what I've observed. That and with a mix of ages, there is way less drama. 3nodding

i'm in a community band... well its more like a county band.... but whatever right. it really fun. we get to play hard music, so i am improving faster than i have been, and it fun to see people other than like all parents enjoying music.

I was in our community college band for roughly a term because my BD asked me to help out with the percussion parts. It was actually a lot of fun. It seemed intimidating at first, but the other percussionists were really nice. none of them could remember my name, though.

Hmmm I figured the music might be harder......I haven't played in years lol, but that is partly due to the fact my Sax sucks and it is kinda broken.
