Ahhhh I feel so spoiled! Last night Jason and I went to Santa Fe for a banquet held for the employees of his company, which is a contractor for the labs. It was held in the ballroom of a really nice SouthWestern hotel on the Plaza in old town Santa Fe, right next to that church shown in the movie Twins, where Arnold Schwartzenegger and Danny DeVito are walking side-by-side with their new white suits, throwing their jackets over their shoulders. Some people were dressed like it was Prom, and other people in Jeans and nice shirts, and there was a professional photographer taking portaits of each couple against a backdrop. Waiters circled offering plates of champagne, wine, or appetizers like Shrimp Cocktail on crackers, Stuffed Mushrooms, Egg Rolls, or Grilled Chicken/Vegetable Skewers. There were also tables of cheeses, crackers, fruits, vegetables, chips with salsa or guacamole, and chilled oysters. The choices in entrees were Lobster Tail, Filet Mignon, or Free Range Chicken, and all were very good! Mine came with a twice baked potato, which is something I need to learn to make, and a spicy dish of oyster mushrooms, snow peas, and onions. And there was an almond strawberry cheesecake and coffee served for dessert. There was a raffle, where two women from our table won genuine silver Native American made turquoise earrings, and every lady in the room was given a single rose with babies breath. heart There was a magician roaming around doing coin tricks, a DJ, and after dinner, a Barber Shop Quartet from Albuquerque. I seriously felt like one of the first class members of the Titanic! This company sure knows how to spoil its employees! whee

I got to try a few wines that I'd never tasted. I almost never get the chance to drink, but I tried a dark Merlot that tasted like berries, and a pink White Zinfandel that tasted like strawberries. 4laugh

I'm confused, how can it be pink and white at the same time?

Brbidll I'm confused, how can it be pink and white at the same time? I think because the official name of the wine is White Zinfandel. And this was a strawberry variation which looked pink. Maybe it's made from white grapes or something?

Brbidll I'm confused, how can it be pink and white at the same time? white Zinfandel is made from red grapes , that's why it's pink, i know that doesn't explain why it's called white! maybe simply to differentiate from the Red Zinfandel.

yep all white zins are pink. Confused me at first. Kevin says it's cuz it's a blend of grapes. I'm personally a merlot or Shiraz drinker.
That sounds so incredibly wonderful fawN! reminds me of how i felt when we went to my cousin's wedding in November last year. It was a sit down family style dinner and open bar with top shelf everything! Apparently my uncle (in a very confusing extended family tree...let's just say he's not really my uncle but is related somehow) is extremely wealthy. Makes me wish i had stayed in contect more lol
