 Life was boring.
The old male Klipspringer was making his way through the Savannah, his head bobbing up and down occasionally from the lengthy grass, much like any old shark in the water would appear. But this wasn't the water, and he wasn't a shark. Ruul'dolph was prey, something to be killed by someone else and eaten. A meal fit for... Eh..
Who would want to eat the old guy anyways? Why not eat his traveling companions, Taga and Mint'e? They were young and far more delicious than he! But, from what he had seen in his many travels, his coat was actually pretty well colored when it came to him using camouflage to hide out, with the exception of his bright, rosy red nose. Stupid thing was too different and just screamed 'EAT ME! EAT ME!' to any predator with eyes. Turning his attention back to his surrounding, the Klipspringer gave a turn of his head, looking around himself slowly... Something was very odd here. He could feel it in his little hooves.
Where had those two youngsters gone off to?
Giving another glance around, Ruul'dolph searched for the albino and moss colored boys. Why, they weren't anywhere in sight!
Oh, if Ruul' could growl right now, he sure as hell would. "Damned friggin' kids!" He barked out loud with a snort in annoyance.

 Serebii wasn't hungry for a change. She stuffed herself on a gazelle a while ago, and didn't need to hunt for once. But she did need to keep wandering. The energy she got from her meal needed to be spent, and running around did the trick. A little part of her didn't want to become fat and lazy after all.
So that was what she was doing when she noticed the brown creature. A klipspringer. That's what he was wasn't it? She didn't often hunt them, then again she didn't really see much of them around.
A stray thought wondered if they were fast, which was dismissed immediately. Serebii was a cheetah. Nothing can outrace a cheetah.
Could they? She heard him mutter something as she snuck up on the klipspringer. Shrugging, she waited and examined him, hoping that he'd notice her and break out into a run like all prey do. Then the real fun begins.

Ruul'dolph suddenly felt.. very uneasy.
The Klipspringer came to a halt in his walking, keeping his slender legs still as he gave a look around him, much more slowly and observing this time. 'Gather y'self, old boy.' With the nervous feeling quickly growing as he tried to see if there was actually something or someone watching, Ruul' tried to hold down the urge to flit away, continuing to scan the area.
No, not yet. He wouldn't run yet.
The thing could just be another herbivore like himself, just out for a little walk or something. His eyes only caught sight of the usual: dried and sun baked looking Savannah grass, a few boulders and rocks jutting here and there, a sparse and skimpy looking tree put out there. Ruul' then started to mutter to himself after the moment of silence, "Don't worry. It's probably just nothi-" He had spotted something in the grass with his old eyes, something... moving. Something shaded green. Was it a snake? Taking a cautious step forward to get a better look, his eyes suddenly widened.
The thing was a cheetah!
"Damn!" Without another word or motion, Ruul'dolph made a break in the opposite direction, sprinting off through the grass in a sort of bounding-running motion. The old male nearly lost his footing, stumbling and misplacing his hooves a few times as he started off. His species didn't usually run, they hopped up ledges and rocky slopes!..
This wouldn't be fun for him.

And the chase was on. Serebii sprang from the ground and picked up speed quickly. She was surprised that the klipspringer wasn't graceful in running like the other hoofed mammals. In truth, she was a bit disappointed that he wasn't as fast as she thought he would be. The race would be fun while it lasted, which was only a couple seconds.
She managed to catch up to the fleeting creature without even running as fast as she could. Glancing over, she figured that he wasn't enjoying this as she was, and decided to end just for his sake. The cheetah fell behind a bit so she could launch herself into the air and crash down on the klipspringer.
"Woo." She wasn't even breathing hard, but it was exhilarating in her own way. Serebii never did run that hard unless she was hunting, and then her mind was focused on the prey and not the enjoyment of it. "Don't worry, I already eaten, so you get to live today."

Giving a fleeting glance over at the predator as they ran, he moving in the odd Klipspringer way, he slit his eyes into a glare but then let his eyes widen a bit. It was a female? An odd looking Cheetah? Oh, just wait till the boys heard about this.. Wait.. No. No, they wouldn't, and he'd make sure of that. He had to maintain his role in the group, the calm and collected teacher. But that was only a small thought in the back of his mind, the main subject he was focusing on being his well being and running away from this feline. Hooves thumping against the ground, Ruul'dolph couldn't help but look back at the Cheetah.
OH MY GOD OF PREY.
Letting out a startled bleat, Ruul' watched with ears flicked back in pure dismay as the green feline leaped at him, tackling him to the ground with a soft 'Thump!'. No! He wouldn't go down like this! He'd rather be eaten by a male than this.. this...
Little girl!
"Hrmph!" Squirming underneath the large paws of the big cat and giving grunts in his struggle, Ruul'dolph gave a thrash of his head, small horns doing nothing to assist him. "Y' let me go now, missy!" He barked out with a frustrated huff, a fury induced scowl appearing on his face as he looked up at the Cheetah pinning him down. This wasn't good. Not at all. But wait.. why hadn't she attacked him yet? By now, she should have sunk those pointy teeth of her's into his neck or something. Taking a moment to listen, the old Klippy's ears perked up. She wasn't going to eat him? "Wait, what?.. Y' mean to tell me that y' just went and chased me around for.. for fun?!" A dissatisfied frown formed to replace the scowl. "Gah! I knew the felines these days had grown soft! Why, if this were back 'n the days when things were all "Eat and Fleet", I would have been halfway down yer' stomach!"
Kids these days.

That wasn't the kind of reaction Serebii was expecting. She would've thought that he would squeal and flail and begged for his release like all the other animals she caught. But nope. This klipspringer was reminiscing about the old days like she was some kid to be reprimanded.
"Well maybe I will eat you then!" She bared his teeth. It was hard to sound ferocious though when she was amused by what he said. He probably didn't taste good anyway, since old prey was often stringy and didn't have a lot of flavor. It would be sad to kill such a funny fellow just because he 'asked for it'.
"But yeah it was for fun. I thought guys like you were fast, like antelopes and such." Serebii poked him on the nose, noticing for the first time that it was red. That's another odd thing about him. She wondered if she should let go of him now, but then he'd run off and she'd be left with nothing again.

Ruul'dolph's eyes widened slightly at the mention of being a potential meal for the Cheetah, rather than the pointed teeth shown. He was far too used to being chased down, it was just...
Being eaten wasn't exactly his cup of tea.
"No, no, no. I've got two younger boys t' watch over 'n everything!.." His voice then trailed off, the old Klipspringer pausing in his words for a moment before letting a devious smirk appear. "Y' can eat them, though, if y' like, miss. Th' green colored one, he's all nice 'n plump from not working out." He continued, giving a slight squirm underneath her then stopping.
"Fast?" Letting out a snort and a minuscule frown, Ruul'dolph huffed, giving a wrinkle of his muzzle at the poke. That stupid snakebite!.. It had left his trademark nose tender after all these years. "Oh, we can b' fast. Just not on flat land like.. Er... This. Steep slopes and rocks are easier to work with." A nod of his head was given, his stumped tail attempting to wag from underneath it's mildly squished state, not making much of a movement. "I guess that would be more of a challenge for a lil' lady like ya' though, hm?" A fun little challenge.

"Well I never tried." Serebii's voice lost most of its viciousness as she thought about the idea. Only for a moment though. She had seen how rocky and steep some hills were, and her long legs might not be much of an advantage there. If there was that said place nearby, she would've been eager to test things out. But along with not having one around, she figured that the klipspringer was tired out from the running and wouldn't like having another race.
He had sons though. Young ones that were probably a lot more tastier than this old guy. The cheetah wouldn't mind a snack. It was rare to get one nowadays.
Except now that she has had a bit of a conversation with their father, a part of her wondered if it was ethical. And that was the reason why it would've been so less troublesome to just kill him when she caught him.
"Where are they?" He might ask her to get off him, but Serebii didn't mind that. The fun of this was fading rapidly.

"Never tried? Odd.." Ruul'dolph muttered out loud with a look of thought up and down the feline, the words spoken absentmindedly more to himself in thought than to Serebii. A snort escaped from him as he began to thrash underneath the cheetah's grip, now a bit annoyed at being made into a herbivore pancake. Ruul'dolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Klipspringer was no flapjack!
Then, snapping out of his wiggling and squirming, the Klipspringer raised his head to look up at the female. Was she perhaps... thinking of eating those two kids he had mentioned? Ironically, he didn't mind the idea all too much, at least, not yet. Those two Klippy's were annoying to boot and lugging them around was getting a bit tedious.
"Yer' willing to just go 'n eat 'em? Well then!" He exclaimed with a small smirk gracing his maw, finally managing to weasel himself out from underneath Serebii, giving a shake of himself and a huff. "They're right over.. over..." Ruul's voice trailed off as he stood up, looking around the area. No boys in sight. "Err.." A sheepish grin was flashed at the predator as the Klippy came to realize that Taga and Mint'e weren't anywhere in sight. "Somewhere. Seems I misplaced 'em..."
Damn.

Serebii swiveled her head to where he was looking, and found no one. Was he lying? It would be odd if he was, seeing that he was the one taking a risk and not her.
And weren't fathers suppose to keep better track of their sons? To go even further, do they usually offer them up to a hungry cheetah if they need to?
"Unless you talking about that rock there, I don't see anyone." She poked him, just to see what he would do. "Mmm. And I am getting hungry. I'll have to eat something soon and you're the only Klipspringer around..."
She wasn't hungry enough to eat an old stringy beast like him though. Serebii just said that to 'encourage' him to move along faster. She growled a bit to emphasize her point.
