I'm a novice at sewing, but I REALLY want to make something lolita that I can wear (anything). I have pretty fabric and want to do something with it! Right now all it's doing is collecting dust.
Anyone have any easy patterns? If you do please post them!<333

I think a nice, easy first project would be making a skirt.
A rectangle of fabric gathered with elastic at the top. Look for tutorials of these. Instead of buying a pattern, you can just measure out the rectangle yourself with a ruler or measuring tape and tailor's chalk.
Most people suggest buying cheap fabric to practise on for your first projects. $2 a metre (New Zealand Dollars) is about the cheapest I can ever find fabric. If you choose black or white it may be useful later on as an underskirt, once you've made things from fabric you like more.

Yep, skirt's the easiest. Most people start out with headdresses, but those are actually harder, with all the tiny details.
A rectangle skirt is made up of three pieces, minimum. A waistband, a front, and a back (unless you only want one seam; then two pieces). The main body should be anywhere between 2.5 and 3 times your waist measurement.
I usually make my waistbands about 2.5 inches wide.
Add a zipper or elastic to your waistband. Violla.

I think I'm going to take a few different fabrics and make a patchwork underskirt. It's a crazy idea but it might end up cool. Once I'm done I'll post it and see what you think. XD
