The white juvenile stumbled, trying to find footing. She'd wandered far, and found herself in unfamiliar land. In the distance, she saw what looked like a rock formation, and in hopes of finding a cave was heading for it. The sun was high, beating down on her, but it wasn't heat that bothered her. The heat didn't bother a lion of the desert. It was the exhaustion. As she got closer, she wondered... How did rocks grow bark like trees?

The day was filled with lazy wandering for the male. In fact, every day was. Since he'd parted ways with his grandfather, he'd only wandered. There was no destination in mind as Minoru walked, sun striking his clay-brown pelt. As he tossed his silvery mane out of his face, his eyes came upon a structure. Uchusi had told him about that... Humans lived there... Best avoided. When he saw a white cub heading for it, though, he promptly went trotting over.

The sound of paws approaching had Savitri halting in her steps. Ears folding back, she looked around... And spotted one of the biggest rogues she'd ever seen, coming STRAIGHT at her. She froze, eyes widening. Was he going to kill her?! She turned, making a dash for the strange formation. What she met, though, was a strange barier that rattled and clinked when she hit it.

As he got closer, Minoru could see... She was afraid. But he could understand. Here he was, a large lion she didn't know. And he'd come up so boldly... Slowing, he moved closer almost hesitantly. "Hey... I'm not gonna hurt you... But you can't be getting too close to that place." He motioned with his head to the building, keeping his seafoam eyes on her.

He wasn't going to kill her? Swallowing, Savitri looked behind her. "W-why not? What is it?" She looked back at him, blue eyes questioning. She edged away from the strange wall, looking back at the even stranger structure. "And... Who are you...?" Why did he look familiar, yet... Not familiar? It was like she should know him...

"Because humans live there, and humans are dangerous." At the even more questioning look, he moved her away from the building with a paw. "Humans are hairless apes that walk on two legs and wear the skins of other animals. They take lions like you and me and either kill us for our pelts, or send us far away beyond the ocean." Or so he'd been told by his grandfather... Looking back, Minoru listened to the sounds of the animals beyond.

Humans...? She'd certainly never seen a human before. But they DID sound dangerous. Kill her just for her pelt? She stopped, looking at herself. "Why would they want MY pelt?!" It was so bland and markless! She stretched out, splaying her toes. "I have no markings to speak of, nothing exotic about me! Who'd want MY pelt?!"

The rust-brown male looked to the little lioness, frowning. "Because humans prize a lion with a coat as pure white as yours. Consider that a curse. But... A blessing, too. They certainly notice strange markings on lions." His tail curled, before he started to walk. After a moment, he stopped, looking to the juvenile. "Why don't you come with me? I'm heading east." At the baffled look, he rolled his eyes. "Towards the rising sun. Did nobody teach you direction?"

It made her stop, eyes wide. Humans would want her pelt... Because it was so pure and white? Panicing, the cub rolled in the dirt. But it was to no avail, as the dirt only fell off. At his invitation, though... She followed, hurrying to keep pace. What was easy to him was a hard pace to her. Walking beside him, she looked up at him. "No... I... Ran from all the fighting before I could learn..." She looked down, watching the ground before her. After a moment, she looked back up. "You didn't tell me who you are!"

He could only grunt, ears flicking. "The sun rises in the east, the way we're going. It sets in the west. The direction to the left of the rising sun is north, and the direction to the right of the rising sun is south. I won't elaborate." He looked at her, watching the cub keep pace. Determined little thing... But he could tell, she'd never set paw on the grass before. He blinked, realizing that he'd missed her question earlier of who he was. "Oh... Sorry... I'm Minoru." As his tail curled, he looked up to the sky. "Grandson of Uchusichusi, son of Mioyo..."

Regarding him, she frowned. "I guess it makes sense..." She looked ahead... East... But if it was that simple... "So what's that way? Between north and east? And what's between that and north?" There was so much to learn... As he prattled his relations, which didn't sound many, she frowned again. "That's not a lot of family..." As she walked, she puffed her chest. "My grandfather is Kimeti, king of the Firekin, and my mother is Kiunguza!" She smiled, quite proud of her lineage. Then she shrugged, almost indifferently. "My father is the returned-wanderer Bodaway... No fancey titles there, but..." She smiled, a nice one, a happy one. "He's a good story teller and so caring to my sisters and I that Mother ignore..."

His steps faltered, eyes widening. "Bodaway?" He stopped, placing a paw on her tail. "You said... Bodaway? Son of Rowtag and Keezheekoni? Big red lion, black mane that has red streaks... Fierce gold eyes, black leg marks like mine?" It couldn't be... Could it? Maybe his mind was playing tricks, or maybe it was just coincidence. After all, he'd seen many lions named Moto something or other.

Looking up at him, she blinked. "Yeah... He was wearing all kinds of strange hard rocks when I saw him last... And..." She stopped, eyes widening. "Momma's gonna be worried about me! Oh no..." But even that had her stopping. No, Kiunguza'd never cared much about her. She was no seer, like her sisters. Their mother had been more worried about if her daughters were seers or not. Bodaway, though... "No... Papa's gonna be worried..." Her ears fell, looking hopeless.

It WAS who he thought it was! Then... Memories came flooding back, angry roars, rustling grass, the sight of bloodshed, the odd body laying in the grass. Minoru had hid, deep in the den, while Shupavu had dared to look out. And then, his brother was gone, and the raoring died down. He'd braved moving to the den's mouth and not seen anyone. Hours of crying, and he soon found his grandfather, who'd taken him and raised him. Both believed Bodaway and Mioyo dead, lost to the rogues that attacked. Minoru looked at Savitri, frowning. "You should stay with me... There's nothing safer than... Than family. I can try and take you home."

She looked up at him, blinking. "Family...?" She tilted her head, brow furrowed. "How are you family...?" He was a rogue, he couldn't POSSIBLY be related to her! Or could he? Bodaway HAD been out in the roguelands for a long time.. She sat down, tail flipping back and forth. "How long was Papa out in the rogue's lands...?"
