The sun was just setting on a Kawani tribe village set in small valley, the unsuspecting villagers meandered around finishing their daily chores when a call went up bringing every soldier to his feet.

Run run run run run! That was all Rikku could think as she plowed over the plains away from the small Kawani village towards the black expanse of forest beyond. She had a basket of treasures held in her mouth and a heard of screeching two-legs on her tail. Still she felt so alive! A grin stretched her muzzle and she giggled around the handle in her mouth.

It hit her about then, her muscles were aching and no matter how much air she sucked in it didn't seem to be enough. She was getting tired, very very tired and had no clue how much longer her legs could carry her at this pace. The forest was so close, yet it seemed like it was a million miles away, still she forced herself to keep running pushing her body to it's limits and likely beyond.

Charging into the safety of the trees she allowed herself to slow to a brisk trot and huffed, nostrils flaring she tried to regain her breath.

She was so tired, but she had to get away from the village in case the two-legs decided they should search the forest for her and their treasures.

Trotting didn't last long though and she slowed to a snail speed walk still huffing and puffing.

Around midnight Rikku finally figured it was safe to stop in a small clearing she had found. Flopping to the ground under a tree she curled herself around her treasure basket and started to doze off

Crimson eyes shot open and the purple maned thief they belonged to let out a groan of pain. He turned to face the blue mare with a glare. For once he had been sleeping peacefully at night when he was supposed to only to be kicked in the side not long after drifting off. "And that was for...?" He asked getting to his feet. Standing he was much larger then Lunathiel and he used this to his advantage whenever he wanted her to back off. She started hissing at him about a thief in the village. He stared at her for a long time debating whether he should just go back to sleep. "I've been here all night Luna. Just like a good little boy." The sarcasm in his voice was thick to let her know he was clearly not in the mood for this.

A single name was mentioned and his wings twitched. Without another word he left the warmth of the teepee and headed out into the biting night air. He spread his wings and took off straight into the air. He cut through the sky covering ground quickly. So, Luna hadn't suspected him after all but his daughter. The thief had been reportedly female. He was going to kill that girl one of these days but first he had to find her. He knew where she would be too, the forest. It was the best place to hide as anyone could see a soquili in flight for miles and miles.

Dark reached the edge of the forest and focused his eyes on the ground below him. While he could not clearly see much in the forest below him he could make out shapes and the was enough. As he passed over a clearing in the trees he saw just such a shape that he was looking for, another horse.

He pulled into a sharp dive pulling up just in time to get his feet beneath him. He landed hard sounding more like someone had just dropped a cow from the heavens then the sneaky thief that he was. He marched over to the figure with a certain fury in his eyes. "Carmi-i-i..."His words trailed off as he got a good look at who he had found. "Rikku?" He stared at her not entirely sure what to say. Last time he had seen her they had fallen asleep together and he couldn't say he had expected to see her again. "What are you doing out here?"

The night was so peaceful, hopefully it wouldn't be to hard to sleep. Still Rikku's ears flicked this way and that listening to the sounds around her for any sign of the villager's showing up suddenly. Shifting the tossed the tassels of her scarf over the basket to hide it from view as much as possible and drifted into a half sleep state.

She had been dozing peacefully for a short time when the loud thud then the almost yell that turned into the soft speech of her name. Her head jerked up eyes wide like a deer in headlights. oh no! they found her! Finally readjusting to the low light her eyes focused on none other than Dark and the image of her falling asleep beside him popped into her head. Oh my, her cheeks flushed for a moment and she slowly pushed herself to her feet plastering a grin on her face that looked more like her silly self "HEY DARKY!"

Leaning down she picked up her basket of treasures and pranced happily over to him still grinning like a goofball.

She stopped a little closer to him and set her basket back down, when he asked her what she was doing she blinked and blushed again "Well ... I ... uh ... n-nothin!"

She grinned in her goofy manner again and shifted the basket under her front legs.

He sighed looking somewhat less then thrilled about the nickname. Oh well, it wasn't too bad all things considered. He managed to smile at her despite being thoroughly shocked to see her. How did this always happen? He'd be out looking for someone and run into a completely different person. Just the way things happened it seemed.

As she moved from her spot he took note of the basket. His eyes flickered over it once and he already put the pieces together. Treasures could not hide from his carefully trained thief eyes. It was almost as though they were naturally drawn to anything of value.

He didn't say anything concerning the basket but watched as she set it down before focusing his attention on the mare again. Her behavior made him laugh. "Nothin' huh?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. There was a certain cocky and humored tone in his voice. This was all very amusing to him. He had gone out to catch his daughter, and probably take whatever she had snatched as payback, and he had found something quite a bit more interesting.

"Never knew you were a thief, Rikku." He said very casually stretching out his wings with a smirk. Normally he hated the thought of competition for whatever was in the area but this, this was just funny to him.

She stuck her tongue slightly out at him, it figured she wouldn't have been able to hide her treasures from his eyes for long. She scoffed her feet and flicked her tail before dragging the basket out from behind her legs.

"W-ell, I ... it's usually just an apple here ... or a carrot there ... but sometimes I see some shiny things and I just .. well take em! Now like they can't make more right?" she giggled and shook her mane. "Vibrant says I have a real knack for it! ..but I think he finds it more amusing than actually helpful." She made a pouting face then giggled, Vibrant was a silly stallion anyway .. or he was starting to be now that he was cheering up.

" 'sides, I think I made a good heist this time!" she pulled back the cloth revealing her treasure. It was a bunch of fine jewelry. Very ornate and detailed dream catchers; necklaces of jade, silver, and other expensive stones.

She grinned in delight, very proud of herself.

He chuckled at her reaction. She was being so defensive about it, like she expected him to think less of her because of it. He couldn't ever recall telling her that thieving was his way of life or that it had become a family thing. Now that he thought about it he couldn't recall telling her much of anything about himself aside from his name. He wondered how he managed to fall asleep with her when she knew so little about him. He entertained the thought that maybe he was just that good before looking down to her stash.

She had quite a load for this time of the year. He let out a low whistle rather impressed. "How'd you manage this without gettin' caught?" He asked completely serious. At this time of the year two-leggers didn't spend too much time out and about. As far as he was concerned she made a pretty good thief. The fact that she lacked wings made it that much more of an accomplishment. He could take off once he had what he wanted, she had to run.

"I think...Vibrant..." He raised an eyebrow at the name. It seemed she knew some oddly named characters, of course his name wasn't much better. Actually it was really better at all but he would always think it was. "Is right, you've got some talent for this stuff..."

She shifted her leg aside so he could see her jewels then she giggled to herself flicking her tail proudly at her heist.

"Well! I think the two leggers trusted me a little to much ... it wasn't that hard to slip in among them and pick off things I liked piece by piece. By the time the realized that their stuff was missing I had already gotten hat I wanted and was ready to run anyway." She felt proud for deceiving the two leggers, tossing her mane she started to bounce back and forth from hoof to hoof. The grin on her face was much like the one she normally wore, huge and goofy.

"Ooh, I love Vibrant Shades of Death! .. he's a smart cookie ... his name is just way to long.." she pouted then giggled
"that's why I call him Vibrant" she didn't realize that herexplantation wasn't needed or likely wanted.

"Thank you," she grinned again, very very proud of her accomplishment.

So that was how she did it. She snuck about using the trust of others against them. It wasn't something he would ever do. No. The two leggers knew him well enough at this point to know better then to trust him. He preferred to make a big show of it anyway, it was more enjoyable that way. To have everyone know he was there and make off with their things anyway.

He found himself chuckling at her enthusiasm and also the memory of angry faces. He stopped laughing at the full name of the stallion. At this point he wasn't sure if he needed to get his ears checked. Vibrant Shades of Death? It sounded almost like it could be the title for a painting and it was a bit shocking to know that it was the name of someone.

Shaking his head a few times he decided it was better to not think about the strangeness of the names. Hell, a good portion of his line were named after colors, Vibrant was nothing.

"Anyway, how long were ya in the village Rikku?" He asked with a quirk of his eyebrow. Really he was just making conversation at this point. He wasn't really surprised that he hadn't seen her, he was really only able to get in to Luna's two-legger's teepee, he couldn't be wandering around when there were humans that would be happy to kill him.

Rikku pranced for a moment then then paused, her muzzle wrinkled when it appeared that some of her pretties had been jostled out of place in her flight away from the village. With a huff and a puff she quickly ducked her muzzle into the basket and started nosing her pretties around so that they were perfect once more. Once they were perfectly in place once more she jerked her head up and arched her neck with pride once more at her own heist. She giggled and danced back and forth before looking back at Mousy once more.

She blinked and tilted her head as she considered the question "oh ... maybe about two days? If even that" She flicked her braided tail back and forth and giggled once more shaking her head.

She was still far to innocent for her own good, but she apparently knew a little more than one would have thought.

Only two days? He lifted an eyebrow and eyed her neat little pile of treasure. The girl moved fast. He expected her to say a week at least. Two-leggers must let there guard down more around mares or something. A part of him was somewhat jealous of Rikku's good fortune but the situation wasn't bad. Not at all. In fact things were looking quite nice right now.

Lunathiel thought he was off hunting down his daughter. No one would expect him back tonight and he hadn't given Rikku a proper greeting yet.

"So..." He began stretching out his wings once again before tucking them to his sides not planning on using them seriously any time soon. "I would say this calls for a little celebration." His usual grin set firmly on his face. It had been a while since he had last seen Rikku and there was no way in hell he was gonna miss a chance with her. Hopefully one that didn't involve her breaking or injuring anything. He didn't want any repeat performances of last time.

She flicked her tail, a celebration? OoOoh that sounded like it would be so much fun! "I guess it does!" She grinned wide tossing back her mane and making her braids flop around for a moment. Shifting she reached down and picked up her basket and held it carefully in her mouth "lefs gfo!" despite her best attempts her words were slightly garbled by the handle in her mouth.

She pranced ahead picking her way carefully through the underbrush. She flicked her tail back and forth, lifting it high like a banner then dropping it back down only to lift it again moments later to keep it from dragging in brush and mud.

She had no clue where they were going, but figured once they got out of the thicker brush Mousy could catch back up and help steer her in the direction he wanted to go celebrate.

And boy was it a nice day for celebrating! Though it was still technically winter it wasn't so cold that she wanted to curl up somewhere and just try to sleep, but it wasn't to warm that she felt as though she would burn up if she moved to much. Yes ... it was a perfect day to spend some time with her friend.

Never a dull moment. He chuckled as she took up her basket of goods and trotted off like a show pony without even asking where they were going. To be honest Dark didn't know where they were head himself so he was content to follow after her for the time being. He kept his eyes on her tail and he wondered if this counted as 'chasing tail'. Really it was more like 'following tail' but it was probably that in reality it was a mixture of both. The thought made him smirk.

He watched the scenery around them like a hawk and wondered if Rikku had any idea where she was going. She hadn't asked so he had assumed she had a spot in mind but from the looks of it that wasn't the case at all. He would have been content to celebrate back where they had run into each other. After a moment he came to a stop and whistled. "Hey Rikku, why not over here?" He called casually before slipping between two trees with a flick of his tail.

In reality there was nothing on the other side but more trees. It was the perfect spot for him though. Walking was dull and he had a wonderful idea for how he was going to celebrate. A simple game really. Without signaling where he was heading this time he slipped through more trees weaving about until he was in a good hiding place. Now to wait.
