Aapep was happy and it showed in the way his paws danced beneath him as he made his way into the pride lands of the Nchi’mahadhi. Otherwise known as the land of music. Also known as, home. Aapep loved this place and despite the fact he wasn’t ‘official’ he knew that someday soon he would be. He wanted to be close to Mawi forever, without a border to cross between them. Besides, rogue life had never been for him. He didn’t have an adventurous heart. He didn’t live for travelling and seeing new things. He just wanted to be here, with his girlfriend and in the place where he felt content. All he needed was his mother and Mawi and the joy of dancing.
So, he danced onwards, searching all of Mawi’s usual haunts. This attempt was taking him to a gathering of trees. The shade they gave was particularly welcome, especially at this time of the day. Maybe she’d be there. If not, he’d try the waterhole and – worst comes to worst – he’d find someone and ask. For though he loved this place, he was still a little wary about approaching outsiders – especially now that he wasn’t a bumbling cub.
No, the days of youth had left him. He was still young, finally reaching the beginning of his true life. Yet, he was bigger and being male, might frighten an unsuspecting pride member. That was the last thing he wanted! In this young state of adulthood Aapep’s mane had finally filled out and his muscles were becoming lean and strong. He was not an exceptionally big lion but that served him well – for dancing would have come much more difficult with a big, unwieldy frame.
He danced, now, with his head held high. Clasped between in his jaws was a flower and he held it ever so gently, afraid his teeth might break the stem. He’d spent the morning searching the meadows for a bloom that would make a perfect present for his loved one. Finally he’d settled on the one he had now. It was a large bloom with white, oval petals encircling a golden centre – like the sun. It seemed to be a larger relative of the daisy, bigger but no less beautiful. It seemed to him that the simple beauty of the flower made it more visible, made it more striking. Perfect.
And as he drew nearer to the trees he lifted his head and tried to peer across. Was she there? He could not roar – for the flower in his mouth prevented it. So, instead, he gave a low chuff, hoping it would suffice.

Mawi Mai was making her way to the exact spot that Aapep was. Her shakers made sounds as she walked, however her drum did not hang loosely from her neck like normal. She had to fix the skin on it, she had it in the den she stayed at with her mother and rest of her family. Her slender tan body moving slowly, a smile on her maw. Her mind was in so many different places. One of the things on her mind was her run in with Vinca the other day. Vinca had two cubs now, older cubs on top of that, no mate, but two beautiful cubs, she adored the one cub that she did meet. It made her want to play around and be more of her cubbish self.
She shook her head and looked up, that cub was adorable, made her also want to teach it all that she could, everything about music that she knew, everything about dancing and singing. She wanted to do that with every cub... Better yet, everyone she met.
A chuckled escaped her lips, that cub really did make her think. She tried to shrug off her thoughts as she continued her way toward one of her favorite spots. But a chuff stopped her in her tracks for a moment. That was Aapep. Her pace picked up to a trot right away. And soon she spotted him. She could feel her heart flutter. He looked so much older, she noticed his changed and now he was finally at that full adult age, it made her smile. He was bigger than her now, she didn't mind, it didn't bother her at all. She felt better not being the bigger one now. "Aapep!" She chirped, looking at him with a large smile.

At the call of her voice Aapep knew it was the most mellifluos sound he had ever heard. He could dance to the tone of that voice. He adored it, perhaps more than anything.
He turned to look at her and the sight of that golden fur in sunlight stunned him. He didn't realise, perhaps, howe desperately he had fallen for her. At this moment in time she was his girlfriend, special too him because she made him feel whole. Someday soon, perhaps, he'd realise how far his crush had developed.
He wanted to call out her name, but couldn't in fear of dropping the flower. So, instead, he quickened his pace, intent on closing the gap between them. It had been too long. Too long. His heart ached to be close to her and he knew now that it was time to join. He knew it with all his being. What point would there be in stalling it in any longer?
The space between his muzzle and hers dissapeared. He touched his nose to hers and leaned forwards to touch foreheads. Then, setting the flower gently on the ground, he gave her cheek a tender lick. "You woiuldn't believe how glad it makes me to see you, to hear your voice." He replied softly. "How have you been?"

Mawi Mai's smile grew more as she looked at him. He was so perfect in her eyes and she loved to see him and think that he was hers. A Purr escaped her throat as she looked at him, right away she went to move closer to him but she didn't have to go that far, he was already there, the purr that was coming from her throat got louder.
She didn't notice the flower at first, not at all to focused on seeing Aapep again, she wanted him to be here in the pride all the time, where she could wander out of her den and see him there in the drum circle, or better yet she could wake up with him right next to her. She smiled and licked his cheek back and then chuckled slightly.
"I love hearing yours too." She said as she tried to stop her purring for a moment, it just barely worked. "I'm so glad to see you." She murmured softly before nuzzling him gently. "I've been doing good, thinking about you a lot." she bumped her nose against his gently. "I ran into an old friend the other day." She sighed throw her nose softly, before chuckling again. "She must have had cubs at a young age, she has two, both older aged cubs. Ah but cute as could be." Her voice drifted slightly, the cub that she met she was so cute. The sight of a cub wanting to learn right away made her smile.
But that was when she noticed the flower. "Oh! Aapep, that is pretty where did you get it?" She said looking down for a moment before back at him, settling down on her haunches, she was slightly confused at why he had it but she really just shrugged it off.

"That's a coincidence." He rumbled. "I've been thinking about you too. All the time. I can't stop." He settled down, closer to her and curled his tail around to catch hers, to keep her close in case she decided to run away from him.
"Wow, cubs! She must have been young when she had them. Younger than us, even." He pondered. "It must be scary...having children so young, not even a grown-up yourself." He smiled. "You'd be good with cubs, I think, you're very kind and very patient and you have a good way with words." He smiled. "Is your friend still here? Or did she have to go?" By the sounds of 'old friend' he assumed that she wasn't staying in the Nchi lands.
He smiled at her reaction to the flower and nodded bashfully. "The meadow near here. I spent all morning searching for it. Do you like it?" He asked, puffing his whiskers out happily. "It's for you. A gift, just like I promised." And he lifted it gently in his mouth, moving to thread it behind her ear.

Mawi Mai's face turned a shade of red when as he talked. She moved a little closer to him. Letting his tail wrap around her tail. It made her chuckle slightly though. Moving a paw toward his with a smile growing on her maw. "You are too good." She chuckled, muzzling him before looking forward thinking.
"Yeah I think she did when she was younger... She isn't that much older than me. She sighed through her nose before licking her lips. "It really must be." Then she laughed slightly shaking her head. "Well, I think it might be a little scary even now. But it sure would be so much more better." She laughed before leaning into him more. "Yeah, she lives here. But I just don't see her much. She wasn't exactly at that age where I would hang out with her all of the time." She chuckled slightly before looking around chuckling. "I'm not that sure how good of a mother I would be..." She laughed slightly. "I don't know..."
Her attention turned toward the flower smiling at it blushing once more. "Its beautiful Aapep... Its great. Why would I not like it?" She nuzzled him grinning as he threaded it behind her ear. "Its great. I'd never not like anything that you would give me." she chuckled before purring softly she would love anything that he gave her.

((sorry for being so slow, hon ;o; my online time is restricted at the moment *will try and be better*))
He nodded. "I never knew my father. Only had mother. I love her, really I do, but sometimes I wished I'd had a father figure around, someone to show me how to be fierce and protectful. I mean...I'd defend anyone who was being wronged but...what if I don't know how to snarl properly?" He blinked. "And how am I going to teach my children if I don't know?" His concerned face lapsed into a smile. "But it's safe here. We'll never need to snarl here."
"Well...I guess no one knows whether they'll be a good parent until it happens." Aapep replied lightly.
He leaned into nuzzle her. "I'm glad you like it." He replied, glancing at the flower, its petals contrasting with her golden fur. "It looks cute on you." He made a mental note to bring her a flower as often as possible.
He touched his nose to hers. "If I'm accepted here." Aapep continued softly. "Do you think we could share a den?" He seemed embarrased. "I mean...um...just so we can be together more?"

[[Its cool. ^.^ I've been a little slow too. XD]]
Mawi Mai leaned a little closer to him. A smile coming across the corners of her maw. She chuckled lightly and nuzzled him. "I didn't know my father either..." She shook her head before shrugging. "I'm sure you snarl fine. And it is fine here nothing will happen that will make you have to snarl." She licked his maw before her smile growing more. "You will be a wonderful father, Aapep, you have nothing to worry about." She let out a small purr looking at him. She was glad that he was here with her. It made her feel good.
She nuzzled him back, before giggling lightly and nipping at him gently. "Thank you Aapep. Its the best give that I've ever got." She flashed him another smile feeling some heat in her cheeks but ignoring it.
When she felt his nose on hers she could feel herself 'melt'. She loved that feeling. She was glad that she ran into him when they were both so young. She was glad that he came back all of those times. He was great. "I'm sure that you will be accepted here." A soft chuckle interupted her words. "But of course we can Aapep. I'll be more than happy to." Her smile grew more. She loved the idea about staying with him. "What about your mother?" She asked back quietly.

He chuckled. "You're right. I shouldn't worry about these things so much. I mean, look at us, right? We turned out fine." He nuzzled her again, enjoying the closeness and finding that he never wanted to leave her alone again.
He knew he had to go and find his mother and get accepted, knew that he'd have to leave her again, if only for a while, but if it meant them being together forever, wasn't one more parting going to be worth it?
Yes. Of course it was.
"My mother?" He blinked, realising what she meant. If they moved in together then his mother would be all alone. Mawi's mother had her new cubs but Kirjava had no one but him. "I think...I think she'd be sad, but not as sad as she would be if she thought she were holding me back from happiness." He blinked. "Maybe if we could arrange for her to have a den close by, so that if she ever need anything she need only call? Besides, being in the pride, hopefully she'll make some new friends, too." He smiled at the thought of that.

Mawi Mai giggled. She moved herself closer to him then nuzzled her head under his chin before speaking. "You shouldn't love. Plus our children will have both of us, if something is wrong then we can always help each other." She grinned at him before nodding. "Plus if we need help we both have our mothers and I'm sure the others around will be happy to give us some help..." Even thought a lot of those didn't have mates... But then again she wasn't going to say that she knew a lot of the females here didn't have a mate but that was okay, she hadn't seen any of the cubs here turn out that bad. Not at all.
Mawi was about to answer his question before he realized what she was sawing. She waited for him to talk before she grinned. "I'm sure that she could live a den or two away from us!" She nuzzled him lovingly with the smile on her face growing, careful not to knock the flower out of her hair. "I think that she will make many friends around here, she is so nice." She wasn't that sure if Aapep knew of her run in with his mother the other day. She was still very glad that she ran into her that was for sure.

He nodded. "Each other. I think it'll make things much nicer that way." He half-closed his eyes, content and comfortable in her presence. Just being close o her put him into a state of relaxation. "That's what I like about a pride." He continued. "Having that community, that aid. We'll have so much help here, with anything that we have problems with, whether it be cubs or something else entirely. I wasn't supposed to be a rogue, I don't think mother was either, though her life forced her into it."
He beamed. "Oh, I forgot you bumped into Mother. She seemed to like you, I think. I knew she would. You're both very similar people. Kind and loving, though she might not be as outgoing as you. She's older than some of the other lionesses here, but I think she'll add a spark once she's settled."
He sighed deeply. "Speaking of which, maybe I should go and find her now and ask her if she's ready to make the leap into joining." He paused. "Then we can be together and not have to worry about anything."

Mawi Mai chuckled at Aapep purring quietly then nuzzling her head into his mane. If was so soft and always felt good. She leaned against him son and a smile grew on her face more. "I really will love to see what our cubs would pick... Rhythm wise." She grinned at him. "I mean will they sing? Drum? Maybe dance?" She giggled at the idea, she loved cubs around here, watching them learn and her favorite teaching them. She really hoped that one that she could take her mother's place...
She grinned and then licked his cheek. "I really enjoyed meeting her. She was so nice." She flicked her hair out of her eyes before nodding. "I really hope so, I'm sure she will make a few friends with the lionesses." She grinned up at him then sighed at what he said next.
She nuzzled into his mane once more. Licking his maw softly before standing up. "Well love..." She smiled at him then nodded. "I will see you around soon. Very soon." She paused nipping at his ear. "I love you." Then she licked his maw once more. "Be careful on your way to get her."

"I...love you." The words made his heart fill funny but warm too. He knew then that he never wanted to be parted from her. That his life would never be complete without her at his side. He nuzzled against her face, hoping that this would be the last time they would ever have to part.
After today, after finding the leader of the pride, he'd be at her side forever.
"You take care, too." And with that he was off, moving as swift as he could to find his mother.
