Naida stretched her fins. Being cramped in that shell had given her a terrible cramp.

Tall, strong, brave (and about as smart as a sack of hammers), Proteus trotted down the beach muttering to himself, "Ok, she was serious. Who knew there was a chick who wouldn't dig me...But with that Fire Dragon, come on - the guy's more like a puppy than a guy..."

Naida eyed the strange creature coming down the beach. She sunk down in the water so that only her eyes were visable, swimming as close to the sand as she could. With a knife in one hoof, she surfaced so that all her top half was visable. "What are you doing here?"

"Woah!" Proteus yelped instinctively grabbing his sword from the air and shifting to a defensive position. Sometimes it paid to be magician and swordsman. "Taking a walk," he said eying the girl in the water. "What's with the knife?"

"A strange pony comes down the beach where I am relaxing and is talking to himself. I call a knife a means protection, as I'm sure you do your sword." Naida shifted down in the water, pulling another knife out and placing it in the other hoof.

"Double the trouble, huh? All that for little old me..." His expression relaxed into an amused smirk as he lowered his sword, "Come on, I'm not going to hurt you. To be honest, I really wasn't expecting to find anyone down here. Alright?"

Nadia eyed him. "Alright. No sword, no knives. But you pulled that sword out of thin air, how do I know you won't use some sort of magic on me?"

The male arched an eyebrow, "A ham, huh? That's a new one." The smirk returned, "But warning duly noted. So, uh, you wanna come out of there and chat or do you specialize in aquatic maneuvers? I'd hate to put you at a disadvantage."

"Woah!" his eyes widened at the unexpected sight of the tail. "And here I just thought you liked the water, well, I guess you do like the water...if not things might be a little awkward for you..."

"I do like the water. If it bothers you, I can come up on the beach...but if I do I get to keep one of my knives with me. I'm at a disadvantage on land."

Naida sank a little lower in the water. "No offense, but I just got out of a tiny, cramped shell. I think I'll stay where I can defend myself a little better."
