Let's start a new thread for baby names, shall we? Silent, if you're Ashkenazi, tell us some of the names (secular and Hebrew, if you know them) of the deceased members of your family. It's customary for Ashkenazim to name a child after a deceased family member in order to give them honor and keep their name and memory alive. If you're Sephardi, tell us some of your living family members, because Sephardim honor people that are still around to appreciate it.
Don't nobody post before Silent gets a chance!

Wow, thanks for starting this thread, lol. Well, I'm Ashkenazi and some dead people (that sounds kinda harsh) are:
Adian Barry (Asher Aviv) which means Blessed Spring or something Abigail Harriet (Avigail Maytal) uh.....nobody else really died...

We're not limiting to 'a' names, it's just that the people that died name's began with 'a'

silent_death_is_loud biggrin Woah, there are a lot of names on those sites. Does anyone know when I'm supposed to find out if its a boy or girl? Between 8 and 11 weeks, I think. If it's a boy, I vote Aaron. biggrin Also, to find out more people, I'd talk to your parents. I was apparently named after my great-grandfather and am extremely similar to him, which makes me happy. :3

I think it's as early as 3 months. A simple ultrasound can tell, right? If you don't want to follow Ashkenazi traditions so strictly, and it's a girl, can I recommend the name Nava? It means beautiful, and I quite like it.

I like Michael, Aaron, or Joseph for a boy. Can't think of any good girl names right now.

I don't follow many traditions that my mom set up anyway, because my brother never really enforced em.
By the way, my little brothers are totally in love w/ the name Aaron, and they won't leave me alone now. My friend would be so happy if I named the baby after him. His name is Mikahel = Michael, right?

Cool, my French teacher can't pronounce (Mee-kah-el) so she just calls him Michael, I find it hilarious. She also can't say my name, Wynter, so she calls me by my last name, which I think is a lot harder to pronounce. (Hint hint, it's the capital of Nova Scotia)
