Ah, I wish. My pit is usually comprised of the band students who forgot to memorize their original music. Although, my band director has decided that the pit is no longer going to be a -punishment- and that the students who don't follow the original rules are just going to be in the stands and won't get to play. I like this idea better, considering pit is fun, although I've never played in pit. I've played the xylophone, bells, and vibes multiple times, though. <3
I agree, sometimes the front ensemble can be pulled and held together by a handful of awesome musicians, although in high school bands it usually doesn't involve as much attention and as many people as it should. *sad face*

In many schools, they are the screw-offs who just want to say they are in band, but at my school, they usually take things seriously. The section leader just moved though, so they're probably going to be a bit more trouble without her.
