Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Fantom gathered with the masses under the community Christmas tree, the echos of carols and general cheer echoing off the buildings and from every home. "There's just nothing like Barton during the holidays~" he cooed to his charges. Psyrin could only cuddle close to his chest, burying her soft blue face into his even softer Gimpi brand scarf.
"I don't get it. Why aren't they lighting the tree, yet?" Eve grumbled, crossing her arms angrily.. Or perhaps it was just to keep warm. To be honest, this writer doesn't know. At any rate, the crowed began to grow anxious, awaiting their annual traditions. Fantom didn't pretend to know, and could only offer a pat to his impatient daughter as comfort.
Just as the cheer surrounding the tree began to diminish, there was a flicker of life among the branches. As if on que, the lights sprang to metaphoric life, shining their brilliant glow on the crowd. Echos of joy erupted from the townsfolk, and songs again began to play. Slowly, the crowd dissipated and Fantom retreated with his family to the closest source of shelter; In this case, an Italian-themed restaurant by the name of Little Durem.

Simon was holding the twins in his arms; they were bundled up in coats and scarves with hats hiding their non-hair. Epicurus was holding on to his pants with his teddy bear hugged to his chest. His wings were tucked inside his bulky coat, making them completely unnoticeable. He looked up at Simon, then over to the tree as the lights went aflame at once after a brief flicker, and the gentle sound flowed over the crowd in amazement. "Why do they light the tree?" he asked, looking back up at his dad.

Simon smiled and shifted the silent twins in his arms as they stared at the glowing tree, and looked down at his oldest child. "It depends what religion the viewer follows," he said gently, knowing that Epi would understand despite his young age. "But in general, it is to celebrate the holidays and the holiday season."

Epicurus's face changed as he pondered that and looked back to the trees.

"C'mon, let's go get some hot chocolate, hmm?" He started away from the tree, shifting the twin again, who were now looking at each other a moment, then down to Epi, who returned their looks.

They found their way to a quiet little Italian place, though it wasn't all that quiet on this evening, as many tree-goers crowded into the building to warm up from the snowy evening air.

Inside the restaurant, sounds of merriment echoed through the warm, Xmasy air. Laughter lingered like dew after a summer dawn and music, the sun that greets the land. Fantom and his family seemed to be the loudest. Well, two, anyhow. The eldest daughter pranced with her father, the two spinning in circles with their hands tightly clasped. The young, blue child only stood to the side, gawking at the sight. She began to clap her hands, smiling at the silliness of it all, yet making not a sound. However, as two women in rather flamboyant hats passed by, Fantom spun around and slammed into the both of them. After some curt words and many apologies, the father looked back at this children. Or where he thought they were....

The cyan child of song had seen something she was absurdly interested in. Children. Two of them in the arms of a fairly interesting looking fellow. As she scuttled in their direction, the other child had no choice but to rush after her-- else it'd be HER head on the metaphoric chopping block.

Simon was making sure that Epi didn't get lost in the rowdy crowd, and when he looked back down at the twins, noticed they were staring into the crowd with odd, curious looks on their faces. He followed their gaze to see a blue-skinned child running toward them, and for some reason his first thought was that she was sickly-cold.

That's a stupid thought, he thought half a beat later. She's obviously a god-child.

Epi watched as well, clinging again to Simon's pant leg, not wanting to get separated from his family and getting lost in the crowd. He saw the other child running after the blue-skinned girl, and cocked his head to the side. "Daddy, look," he said, looking up at Simon, but returning his gaze after seeing that he had already noticed the pair coming toward them.

The twins looked at each other, their expressions shifting a bit, before they looked back at the blue child. Something was interesting about them...

Psyrin stood before the group of four with her hands folded behind her back and a broad smile on her face. With a swift gesture, clumsy as it may be, she gave an awkward curtsy just as Eve rushed behind her.
"Er, Sorry about whatever trouble she's caused. She just got away from us!" the brunette flustered, hastily grabbing at the hand of this mentally named Beast of Burden. Psyrin only pouted; trying, and failing, to pull her hand from her sister's ungodly grasp.

Meanwhile, their frantic father began scanning the establishment. As one would assume, loosing your most precious gifts could place a fair ammount of stress on a normally jolly bloke.

Simon looked down at them, smiling as the girl curtseyed before the other came up behind her. "She hasn't caused any trouble," he replied with a slight smile. The downside of this whole thing was that he often had to meet others. However, since they automatically had something in common... he didn't hate it as much as he usually did. "I know how it goes," he continued, going down to one knee and setting the twins on their feet. "My name's Simon, and this is Daniel," he said, gesturing to the black and blue twin, "Lydia," he said, gesturing to the white and red twin, "And Epicurus," he finished, and Epi gave a slight bow to the pair.

The twins stood very close to each other, and cocked their heads at the small blue child, before kind of waving their hands in greeting.

The brunette could only sigh. Yes, the rigmarole... More FREAKS like this b*****d sister of hers. "I'm Eve. And this..." she nodded her head towards the THING in the sapphire knit hat. "Is Psyrin." One couldn't help but notice the twinge of resentment. The child, however, simply reveled in the opportunity to meet more people as strange as herself. She waved back with enthusiasm, everything about her radiating absolute glee for the whole scenario.
Well, Eve thought, I'm either going to stand here and wait for dad, or wander around and end up just missing him for hours. Reluctantly, she figured the earlier was the less aggravating of options.

Simon raised a brow; he could almost taste the animosity in her words, and he could tell by Epi's movement closer to him that he could feel it, too. "It's nice to meet both of you," he said, brushing a wisp of light blue hair from his eyes.

Daniel looked past Psyrin for a moment and raised a brow in confusion at Eve, meaning it for Psyrin. Lydia watched Daniel closely, then nodded at Psyrin, furrowing her brows and blinking a few times in slight confusion.

Psyrin only shrugged in response. Eve was crazy and bitter, that much was blatantly obvious, but one can't pick their family... Well, not under normal circumstances, anyway.
The teen in the holiday sweater began to grow tired of the looks she was getting. Damnit... It's always that brat that causes this... She let out a sigh and began to speak, but as if it were staged, their father burst from the crowed and immediately grabbed them both in an over-exaggerated embrace. For a moment, it looked as if this affection might cause the cyan eyes to pop from the young goddess's sockets; or at least crush a lung or two. Thankfully, the python-like grip was quickly loosened, giving both the children a chance to straighten their wardrobe. "Don't run off like that...!" the father near exclaimed at the daughter he knew would understand. Eve only held her temple and nodded, passing off her father's fear as over protection.

Psyrin, however, pulled away from her family again to engage the multicolor children in "conversation." She gave a glance at Simon and then back at the two silent deities. Her inquisitive look could mean nothing short of absolute curiosity.

Simon stood when the father had released his children, "Hello," he said simply, forcing a smile and offering a hand. "Name's Simon."

Epi stayed close to Simon and clung to his teddy, glancing at Eve again before staring at the floor. She was making him uncomfortable...

Daniel and Lydia were a bit surprised by the man's sudden appearance, and backed away a bit, though relaxed when Psyrin came back to them. At her look, their eyes lit up a bit, and if they had mouths, they'd be curled into genuine smiles. It was their family, and regardless of their general somber responses, they were very happy with their home.

They then turned their glances to her father, and raised their brows again, as if surprised by him, and the way he seemed to talk to Eve and not Psyrin.

Fantom glanced up at the other adult, offering a kind smile and warm tidings. Rising and brushing his jet black hair out of his face, he took the fellow's hand and shook it firmly. "Fantom. Fantom Destler. I hope they didn't cause any trouble..." Sometimes it's simply amazing how a parent and child can think so alike, yet so differently.
Eve stayed quiet, hiding from the others. Certainly not due to chronic shyness, but perhaps because she, too, could feel the tension that had been caused. Thankfully, the last of this triad was far too carefree to notice what the others were up to. She turned to glance back at her father and beamed as she again faced the twins. folding her hands behind her back, she rocked back and forth on her heals, as if floating on the river of love that her household held. However, this stance snapped as she noticed poor Epi doing his best to stay out of the situation. She gave a slow, friendly wave in his direction; An olive branch to help calm the apparently uneasy nerves.

Simon's smile widened slightly as they dropped the handshake, though really changing to a genuine smile, "No, no trouble at all. Glad to meet someone else in the same situation, really."

Epi simply smiled at her, and relaxed his hold on Simon's pants. He was old enough to understand, however, that somehow, there was a connection in the way the twins communicated with this girl, and that it was their turn to meet other god-children.

Lydia gave a warm look at Epi's smile, then returned her gaze to the silent godling, and her eyes remained warm. Daniel looked over at Epi, then back with a shrug, though his eyes were not cold, though not as warm as Lydia's either. Lydia nudged him, and then waited a moment before gently touching the other's skin, curious about the odd pigment.

The goddess gave what appeared to be a chuckle at the nudge, but made no note beyond that. What she DID note, however, was the inquisitive gesture. The implication was clear, but the answer was.... Less so. She glanced from her own hand to theirs, taking in the whites, blacks and blues. The flywheels and gears wrenched her mind for mere moments before the light bulb sprang forth. She reached around her neck, fumbling clumsily with the magnetic catch until successfully drawing forth a mock replica of her own Relic. The dark blue music note glistened on the silver chain as it dangled free from her fingers. She wasn't sure if this was enough to be some sort of explanation... but at least it was worth a shot.

The adult seemed as pleased as his youngest daughter at the prospect of meeting annother guardian and god pair. "You and I both, my friend. She's Song. And yours?" he peered over at the two children. They, sure enough, had to be Tison. But as for that third one... Well, there was only one way to figure him out, now isn't there?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 29, 2008 12:32 am

Lydia and Daniel raised brows at the replica the other was showing them, but smiled, a bit envious that she had something to show of her beginning. They nodded, and Lydia made a gesture as if she were singing, then raised her brows, wondering if she had guessed correctly.

Simon smiled, "The twins are Light Essence and Dark Essence, Lydia being Light and Daniel Dark." He looked down at Epi, who was fiddling with his teddy bear absently. "And Epicurus is Philosophy and Morality." He looked at Eve a moment, "She's a human child?"

Fantom nodded. "Aye, Eve is the child of my wife," he said affectionately, putting a hand on his child's shoulder with pride. Technically, Claudia was no longer his wife... but such semantics were no business of a stranger, anyway. Again, his eyes drifted down to the quiet children, retaining the look of contentment. "Fascinating, aren't they...?"

Psyrin nodded, tucking the pendent into her pockets for safe keeping, though the way her eyes drifted to the floor seemed to imply a slight loss of spirit. A goddess of song who doesn't talk... How pathetic, she thought, if one so young were able to conceive such a thought. At any rate, she shook her head as if to banish the depressing idea and smiled again at the pair.
