The sun dimmed down, and Uzuri's eyes flickered about; she was by herself tonight, and had no intention of staying put. Her blue eyes began to glow in the scarce light, and her predatory instincts began to kick in.

She crawled about on the ground, and soon broke out into a full run; she was desperate to get away for the night. Nothing in the dark scared her anymore, and she strode across the slumbering savannah with courage. When she was confident that she was far from her den, she slowed her pace, and took in her surroundings, closing her eyes and lifting her nose to the air.

Mkimya's head was bent down to a graze. The juicy blades were delightlful between her teeth. It was refreshing. These blades were the reason she didn't need to drink from a watering hole too often. Unles she couldn't find food, that is.

Her grazing continued. She was never attacked in her own area before. She rarely left her small patch of grass. Well, almost never. She still had a great curiosity that would never be quenched, but she stayed there for a while after her son left to explore the world alone.

Still blissfully unaware of the world about her, Mkimya concentrated on enjoying the sweet rock grass before her.

Uzuri stopped turning her head in the air once she spotted a familiar smell; one that made her mind race as it did when she was alone. The first time she smelled it, she encountered the animal that made it rather quickly, and it was not a pleasant encounter.

Wandering forward, Uzuri began to pick up her pace until she was in an all out run; she was not going to let this time be like the others. She had grown, and she was no longer afraid of larger prey beasts. She galloped, but quickly slowed as she neared the scent. Lowering her body to the ground, she slinked along the ground, guided by the bright moonlight. Her blue eyes glowed, and she came across a small grassy indent in the ground; it didn't take long for her to spot her target.

Mkimya, still unaware, bobbed her head a little before grazing a little more. She has taken to staying awake during the night. It was cooler, and her thick coat made it so the cold didn't bother her. The mountains should be her home, but she was born in the plains. In fact, she had never been to the mountains...

Her ear flicked a bit. Grass rustling? The breeze has started, brushing the grass lightly. She looked up... It was probably just the wind.

Uzuri's eyes narrowed as she watched the animal graze; it was fascinating to her. She had not seen this kind of animal out at night, for the usually knew better. Uzuri flexed her paws, anticipating her next move, and crawled through the grass to her right, sliding down the slope into a tall area of grass. The beginnings of dew helped her slide with little noise, but as she hit her new hiding spot, her rear thumped to the ground.

Another sound was heard. It wasn't like the rustling grass, more like... A body. "Hello? Who's there?" Mkimya called softly, letting herself walk to where the sounds waas coming from. She wasn't scared. She'd ecountered many predators and other preybeasts that never did anything to harm her.

Uzuri saw the encroaching animal; it's large shape called out, and her instincts were triggered.

With one leap, Uzuri outstretched her paws and hurled herself at the animal. She feared being injured by one again, so she kept her guard up and circled around the beast, keeping her teeth bared and snarling.

Mkimya could almost laugh at the sight of a pup - a pup wanting to hunt her. She kept herself contained though and watched the pup with her eyes. "Tell me, pup. Why do you hunt me when you are too young to hunt?" She asked with a soft voice. She had aquired such a soft reassuring voice whenh her fawn was born. It just never left after he had growing and left.

Uzuri's eyes narrowed and swayed her tail lower. "I've never been too young for anything." her voice was harsh and malicious; she couldn't believe that someone was speaking to her in such a manner. Her eyes glowed fiercely, and her snarl grew.

"You are but a pup, young on. Where is your mother," Mkimya asked lightly, softly. Concern was growing in her eyes. Not for herself, but for the pup. Was this pup... alone? A frown crossed her face. She took arotehr step forward, towards the pup. She would be ready to run though, in case she had to.

Uzuri became more agitated. "I have no mother." she spat. She braced herself, clawing the ground, as the animal approached her. Old memories of being brutally kicked in the stomach by one of her kind. Her body lowered, and she crept backwards, trying to keep her distance.

"Who takes care of you then. Surely..." Mkimya paused. She took another stepp forward. "You have someone to take care of you, don't you?" Mkimya whispered softly to the pup. Was the pup hungry? She couldn't hunt for the pup. She was a preybreast - a grass eater. She couldn't eat meat, it'd cause her to go sick to her stomach. "I could help you find someone if you don't... They're nice dogs. Raised my two brothers..."

"I have someone, they're just......not around all the time." Uzuri let her composure slip. Her ears perked at the opportunity for someone else to get her food, but her snarl remained. Her curiousity pulled at her, wanting her to follow this beast to a place where dogs raise prey beasts; but she stood fast, not wanting to fall into a trap. She eyed around the beasts feet, searching for places where she could get some leverage if she needed; although her fighting style was unorthodox, it got the job done.

"You should tell this someone than..." Mkimya said, almost with conviction, though her voice didn't raise much higher than it's usual whispery tone. She took another step forward. It would be easy running if she needed to, she knew. She could outrun lions and she'd raced cheetahs and hares. She's played tag with predators millions of times; this was really no different.

Mkimya's voice dipped. "Just have a chat with your caretaker, and I'm sure she'll be around more..." The voice change was not a dangerous tone, just a more serious one. And she could only assume the pup's caretaker was a she.

Mkimya's nose twitched needlessly. She could smell the dog. A certain scent came with dogs. A togetherness one, one of windwhipped fur and the distint scent that was purely canine. Mkimya could tell this dog lived close to a lake from the scent of moisture that hung around the pup like a cloud. "You live around a lake. Why don't you go back there, and talk to your charetaker if she's there..." Mkimya stopped her forwarm motion now, and decidedly took a step backwards.

Uzuri twitched; she didn't like strangers telling her what she should do. She had never liked it. It was a burning feeling that had come along with her past.

Without thinking, Uzuri swiped her paw sideways before her, spewing dirt up into the beast's eyes. She took the opportunity to ram herself into the beast's front legs, knocking her off balance. She now had a cover; the dirt provided an ample disguise for Uzu to run back in the direction she had come, although she wasn't going home this time. Not yet.

She could feel tears well up in her eyes as she thought of what the beast had said; it wasn't overly hurtful or mean hearted, but the thought of burdening her caretaker even more wrenched at Uzuri's chest. She was afraid that if she pushed to hard, Janja would push her away, for good.

Finding a small mound of grass a good distance away from the spot where she had met the beast, Uzuri collapsed in the dewey grass, emotionally exhausted. The moonlight shone down on her, coating her in a cold light.
