-History of Planet Earth-
Required for: School of Magic Class Description Students take a look at the geological development of the earth and how certain conditions influenced flows of mana or human ingenuity. Particularly studied is the Middle Ages, when all races but the humans fell into darkness. It is necessary to understand as much about the potential allies as possible. Classroom Description Various pictures of the world are posted on the sandy-colored walls of this circular room. Students bring their own Tablets here and sit on a very comfy carpet so they can face the walls. When not being used for a classroom it is a favorite group-study room.

Canaan was in a damn fine mood. Not only had he been getting better at studying, since Micajah had started helping him, he'd also discovered his own [and Bronte's] personal tablets in their rooms, and upon activation, found out a way to change the settings. Now, all his lessons were read aloud to him by the computer itself, and he had control over the touch screen with his fingertips.
Perfect. He no longer hated coming to class, and following the example of his roommate, had picked up a pair of headphones, so that his own studying didn't trouble anyone else.
Currently, he was lounging on a particularly comfortable dark-blue pillow, his tablet in his lap as his fingers flew across it, accessing the now familiar menu screen, and pulling up the first lesson. The buds in his ears allowed an electronic, friendly female voice to help guide him through the process.
When he'd found the tablets, he'd offered to meet Bronte for the other boy's first class, however, the plans hadn't been concrete, and he didn't mind if the other boy didn't show.

The room greatly intrigued Brontë. He had not been in any of the classrooms yet and he was happily surprised by the many different types of classes offered. He also enjoyed the tablet that had been provided to him by the school. Brontë had spent a few hours each day to learn the tablet's every function and make sure he did not leave any important function unnoticed. He immediately notice that his roommate Canaan had arrived before him and was already studying with his tablet. He walked to Canaan's position and tapped him on the shoulder to make him aware of his roommate's presence. "Just letting you know I finally arrived. Sorry I'm a bit late. Have you started with the tablet's lesson?" Brontë didn't want to admit he had gotten lost on the way. He hated the idea of appearing confused when it came to a simple thing such as getting to class.

Cane pulled the headphones from his ears, shooting his roomie a friendly smile. "No, I only just pulled it up." He'd been waiting for Bronte to start the actual chapters they were going through that day. "I figure we'll do a few together, get the hang of it, then we can move back to our dorm to study, and compare notes later." A firm nod, and the tan boy made room for Bronte to sit nearby.
"On another note, though... Another science student and I got permission to start a sports club. We're starting with lacrosse and are looking for players. You interested?" Cane never beat around the bush.

"That's good, I was worried I might not get here in time." He laughed for a moment and then sat down next to his roommate. He had brought is own set of headphones from his MP3 player and though he had seriously considered bringing his MP3 player, he knew that the tiny music player would only hinder his studies. "Lacrosse? I'm not very familiar with the sport, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I mean my own music stuff doesn't really have a set schedule so I don't see why not." Brontë tried to imagine himself in a stereotypical lacrosse outfit, but couldn't really grasp the situation, at least in a serious manner. "Since you were raised on a reservation, I bet you have had a lot of history. Especially about the North American continent. Am I right?"

"I'm afraid I have not had much world history. More about my own lands. Native history and civil rights." Cane grinned, not minding Bronte's comments, and rolled his shoulders smoothly in a shrug. "This class should have new information for both of us, I think."
Pointing at the other boy's tablet, since he knew it was the greek's first class, Cane explained some basic information. "I have mine set up as a touch screen, but you can also use that pointer pen, there. Anyway, it's set up so that you can hear the lesson, or read it, or both, so you can choose your preference."
Then back to the subject he prefered. "We'll have a lot of practice before playing real games. It's not full lacrosse, so it's pretty simple. Native Americans created the sport, you know." Another grin.

"I think it may take me a minute to get used to the tablet since it has so many features." Brontë then used the pointer pen to set the history lesson to read aloud to him through the headphones he had brought with him from their room. He wasn't sure what would be the best way to learn with his new tablet, but he figured the best way to start would be to try out each of the options. "I guess this is one of the more laid back classes since it is not structured like some of the other courses. I almost expected an uptight professor." Brontë adjusted himself so that he was now fully relying on the pillow he was propped up against and crossed his legs. He stretched his arms for a moment and then placed them behind his head as a pillow. "As long as we will have a good amount of practice before we start, then I don't see a reason not to play. I have to say that there aren't too many activities for beginning students." He paused for a moment and made himself more comfortable.

"Should be, considering I'm a captain." Team captain, that was. Cane shot Bronte a smile, before putting his buds back into his ears, raising his brows at the other boy, he slid his arms behind his head, and spoke quietly. "Just tap me if you need any help."

"Guess I can't say no if it's the captain." He laughed at his own comment then settled down into the lesson. Brontë stared intently at the maps around the room intently as the automated voice read aloud the history this particular lesson contained. He was very interested and as the words filled his ears, he stared at the images that crossed the tablet. He had never imagined that any subject could be of any interest, especially since he always was caught listening to music at his old school. He then paused his lesson and tapped Canaan on the shoulder. "If there is any part you may want my opinion on or anything, then let me know."

Canaan had a thirst for knowledge, the boy was starting to do well at the school, now that he could study via audio and touch. He found the lesson fascinating and was flying through it, fingertips leading him through maps and video links and photos, when he was touched.
Cane instantly yanked one of the buds from his ears, and smiled slightly, expression unreadable. "What do you think of what happened with the first aliens that got here?"

The images that flashed across his screen were wonderful and awful all at the same time. Great inventions combined with horrible atrocities. "I think it is awful how they treated the first alien, but all the death and destruction that followed was awful. I guess there was a lot of loss on both sides. What do you think?"

"White Society has traditionally enslaved and abused those different than they, this was simply a repetition in their history." Cane shook his head slowly. "I remember my grandmother speaking of it when it happened." He paused, to watch a picture shoot across his screen. "I think it was unfortunate that they attacked the entire planet for one people's wrongs, yet, wouldn't we, humans, have done the same?" His chuckle was full of bitterness. "I understand why we are here, to protect our earth, yet, I cannot find fault in the aliens. I do think they are simply being used by a superior race, though, and they are also exploiters. We must destroy them."
Cane was finally being talkative.

Brontë almost fell out of his seat in a state of shock. He had was caught by surprise at the the amount that his usually silent roommate had spoken. "Wow, I didn't know you had that many words in you." He laughed as he sat up once more and adjusted his tablet. Thankfully, the learning tool had not been damaged by Brontë's fall. Before continuing, he made sure the tablet was on the screen it had previously shown. He wanted to make sure he had all the information about the events of the major alien attacks before speaking. He never liked to discuss anything unless he knew the true meaning or else he would feel anxious and nervous of any weakness shown through his demeanour. "I agree with you wholeheartedly, I think that slavery and suffering are an integral part of human society. Every ancient civilization had some form of slavery or a lower class that was or is still treated with a great amount of disrespect. I truly feel for the aliens, I mean no one wants to be put through such an awful ordeal. However, like you said, it is awful that these aliens are being used to further the malicious intent of another species. It seems that they cannot escape the punishment and atrocities of being used by another race." He paused for a moment and contemplated on how it felt to be used by another for personal gain. "It is never going to be a fair world it seems. I think there will be heroes and villains on both sides. I guess it's up to us to stop anymore suffering or destruction that may ensue in the future."

"Yes, exactly!" Cane laughed at Bronte's response, obviously enjoying the exchange, and sighed, flicking through a few more screens. He was beginning to like his roommate a lot. "It is our duty to learn as much as we can here, so that when we are making the choices for our planet, they will be the most compassionate."
Another pause, and he raised an eyebrow at their current lesson. "What of the demons? How do you feel about them?"

The ideas that the class had invoked and the issues that the discussion had addressed were all that Brontë could think about. He had tried his whole life to simply the horrific events that had led to the Earth's current condition. However, now that he was enrolled at a facility whose sole purpose was to address the atrocities of the past, he could no longer put these events in the back of his mind. "I don't believe that any race does not have the right to exist nor that everyone of that race is the same. Individuals make their own decisions and those that make wrong, especially wrong decisions that lead to destruction should not be counted as a representation of that race. I guess when it comes to demons, I feel the same as I do with any race. There are those who are wonderful, those that are awful and all that falls between the two." Brontë had a lot of new ideas and even more confirmations in his new found beliefs. He had gained much more than expected from not only this class, but his roommate as well.
