So he'd grown. Sort of. Kind of. A little bit. The violet and maroon cub had gone from being tiny and overall defenseless and helpless in to being not quite as tiny but still fairly defenseless and helpless. Not much had changed outside of his physique but Mchumba didn't know any better. Males were weak, or so his mother said. Males weren't meant to be much of anything within the pride and the little cub had took heed.
He was nothing but a lowly male. . . . It sure must have been lucky to be a girl. His sister certainly did get to be the star and how nice it must have been to have so much time with their mother. The little male wondered what it must be like. . . . Though his mother was loyal to all of his siblings, she had taken an especial shining to his sister.
Heaving a small sigh as he cautiously made his way near the borders of the Pridelands, deep in thought as he ambled without much of a care. Oh, who was he kidding, he was always choked with anxiety and fear; it wasn't easy being a male, oh no, especially when one was on his own and without any sort of protection nearby. Though he was still near the borders of his homelands, that didn't mean something bigger and much more fierce than he might not look upon him as a tasty treat.
If only he were bigger. . . and a girl.
How it must be nice to hunt. . . If he were bigger and stronger and more like his sister he too could be trained to hunt and kill. Oooh, but even such thoughts were blasphemous; he would never be strong enough to do such a thing. Besides which, glancing down at his weak limbs and his big paws, Mchumba wasn't so sure he'd be good at it. In fact, there wasn't much of anything he was good come to think of it. . .
He was clumsy, he was slow, and he didn't possess any extraordinary talent or skill in any thing. His brothers were much more beatiful than he and much more vain too; in fact, the only thing the little lion was good at getting in to was trouble. . . . But that wasn't all bad either.
Nine time out of ten his mother was so enraged she took time out of her day to scold him and only him! Sure, he was punished, but at least it meant she loved him and showered him with care in its fiercest form. Tail swishing behind him, still thoroughly lost in thoughts, he hardly noticed when he stepped over the borders of his pride and headed out in to the unknown.
Mchumba would most likely panic when he found out. . . or sit and wait for his mother or sister to come rescue him from his plight.

There has never been two more opposite lion cubs. Chinedu glanced back at his father who gave him a nod. He was free to explore today. He could go wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted. He bounded away to go find someone to play with, excitement flowing through him.
He was strong, training to be a body guard to his small troupe. His paws hit the ground as he raced along the grasses. He was strong, fast, agile, and brave. All thanks to the teaching of his mentors. His father taught him strength, the cheetahs taught him speed and intellect, and the hyena taught him to never fear anything. Not even man.
He leaped over rocks and and stumbled to a stop. There was something... purple over there. Curious he glances around before making his way over. Another cub!
He gave a smile as he trotted as quickly as he dared over to the little male. "Hello." He called kindly, although he was slightly shy, he was still interested in a playmate. After all he couldn't play with the puppies yet. He crept over, wondering about him. For a boy he didn't seem very big. "Why are you all alone? Are you looking for someone to play with?"

Mchumba heard the quick approach of paws against earth. Though a voice rang out, friendly enough, the violet and maroon lion panicked and quickly dropped down in to the grasses. Sadly they didn't do much to hide his form, and he wound up looking more than a little ridiculous in the process, but green eyes were fast to lock on to Chinedu.
The first thing he noticed was how he was coloured; he almost looked like a white version of his brother whom was all brown. The second thing he noticed was that the little cub was indeed both his own age and a male. . . Well that was a bit of a relief, at least for the sweet little Mchumba. Girls were intimidating enough without being strangers on top of it.
Certain that he wasn't about to get eaten, Mchumba finally lifted his head and allowed his shoulders to relax. Sitting up, logic finally reminded him that the other cub was talking to him. The little brown and white one was being friendly and he wasn't doing anything in return! "H-hello," he stammered, green eyes growing brighter at the prospect of making a new friend. "I'm all alone because. . .well. . . my brothers didn't want to explore today. And my mother and sister are out together." He shrugged his shoulders, considering such a scenario was always present in his life. Glancing around him, Mchumba added with a sly grin, "I'm trying to get lost. . . but. . . but I would love to have someone to play with!" He added brightly, his mood suddenly perking. Outside of his docile brothers, he'd yet to make any friends within the pride. Usually the little cub was too intimidated to join games, and furthermore, the games they liked to play were. . .well. . . rough and tumble stuff.
Mchumba was far from rough and tumble.
Games to him were grooming one another, maybe exploring (but nothing too extravagant), talking, more grooming, lounging and possibly cuddling. He really was a shame to the male race and poor Chinedu was fast going to find out how much of a disappointment Mchumba was raised to be
"I'm Mchumba," he introduced, offering a cordial and ever polite little dip of his head.

Chinedu blinked when the younger cub hid. Was he that scary? Honestly all he said was 'hi!' He sat a distance away to keep from scaring him further and tilted his head.
He lifted his ears when the cub started to get up. There you go! His friendly eyes encouraged. He had no intention of hurting anyone. Violence never solved anything, or at least that's what he'd been taught. He smiled when the other cub started to talk to him and chanced coming a few paces closer. "You have brothers and sister?" He asked with interest. He was an only child after all.
He grinned a bit. "Well if you're trying to get lost and wanna play I can help both! Although I can usually find my way back so that must mean we weren't really lost..." He says thoughtfully then shrugs.
"Mchumba? I'm Chinedu! Its nice to meet you. You can call me Nedu if you want." He says finally coming close enough to get a good sniff, his tail flickering. "What do you want to play?"
