What is your favourite Christmas story, or even your favourite winter-ish tale? 'Tis certainly the season to read them! whee

Should I start? Okee-dokie, I have to say that the yule book I like best is A Christmas Carol because I'm curious about what meeting my own ghosts of past, present, and future would be like.
The Nutcracker always made me a little sad as a child, so I'm not positive if I like that one.
I also adore the film Rudolf where the characters look like puppets and there's an Island of Misfit Toys and an elf that wants to be a dentist. However, we're a guild of readers and I'm not sure if that particular story is a book...

I have to second A Christmas Carol as great, and I've always loved The Best Christmas Pageant Ever as well. ("HEY! Unto you a child is born!")

Really? Which version of the book? I've always enjoyed the ballet, but never found a prose version that satisfied me.
