Her belly hurt. Oh dear gods did it HURT. Elua had tried to stumble to the little den Eisheth and Leru had insisted on helping her make...and that's where she was now. Laying on her side as the spasms became quicker and more painful.
"Eisheth! Leru! Please! I...I think it's TIME!" Was birthing supposed to HURT so much? Elua hoped so...because she didn't want there to be anything wrong with her beautiful little ones.

Eisheth had been sort of hovering around near Elua's den for the past few days - figuring that her cousin's time would be soon. She only hoped that this would be an easy birthing.
Head flinging up at the other's call, she pelted toward the den entrance, noticing the little serval also bounding that direction from where she'd been sitting in the lower branches of a tree.
Slowly a bit, she waited on the other - so that Elua's 'mother' could get there first, even if only by a couple of seconds.Leru noticed what the cheetah was doing and flashed her a quick smile of gratitude before ducking inside the den - going to curl herself up against Elua where hopefully she wouldn't be in the way. "It will be all right, love," she murmured softly - leaning up to lick Elua's cheek.

Elua whimpered and tried to nuzzle her mother as another spasm rippled through her. "Is it...supposed...to hurt so MUCH?" The hurts were growing closer together, and she tried to keep her breathing even, but wasn't having much luck.
"What am I suppsoed to do?"

Eisheth quickly inched her way into the den after Leru - bending over to sniff at Elua for a moment or two. "It's all right, shh..." she murmured softly.
"You're doing fine..." Though it probably did hurt, Elua didn't seem to be having any more trouble than anyone else would. It was just unfamiliar to the other cheetah.
"Here... breathe with me," she instructed, and lay down close, breathing in and out in a sort of rhythm.
Leru scooted up a little and started washing her "daughter's" ears, purring soothingly.

Elua did her best to match her cousin's breathing. At first, it was hard...but Leru doing her best to soothe her helped...and eventually Elua was breathing relatively in time with Eisheth. Then pain grew greater and the spasms closer together...
Until they kind of melted into one and she couldn't help but push. She had to, right? That's what she was supposed to do?

"Very good, Elua... yes, push now," Eisheth murmured - having backed off just a little once she'd gotten her cousin's breathing into the right pattern. She could see the wet, slicked back fur on the top of a small skull now... Just a little more.
"It's all right, love," Leru murmured quietly - still purring and licking at Elua's ears and face.

A couple more pushes and pained noises from the darker cheetah, and the cub was brought into the world. Elua lay there, exhausted but somehow...happy. Smiling tiredly, she looked back to see her little one. "I think...that's the only one..."

Eisheth sniffed about the other cheetah's stomach for a moment and then nodded. "I think that you're right... what will you name him?" she asked, nosing the little one toward his mother.
"He's gorgeous, love," Leru murmured softly - leaning in to sniff at the cub and then nuzzle at her 'daughter'.

Elua nuzzled Leru back, and moved to help bring her cub closer. A moment of thought came over her, and then she broke into a grin.
"Niju. His name is Niju. Because if he wants to, I'll help him find all the knowledge in the world." Yes...her cub. Her beautiful, wonderful cub. And he would have so much love...as much love as was in her and the world and everyone he met and would know!
