The Alpha Helix
wahmbulance Weather Alert! wahmbulance

A cold snap has happened in the norther regions of this vast world. A unrelenting blizzard has engulfed the northern halves of the Eastern and Gaurnan territories along with the Northern, not like this is anything new to them, and the Neutral land. Thus blanketing their areas and several feet of snow in exposed places. The river for the most part has frozen over with 1 feet thick ice.

The West was virtually untouched by the blizzard. Some snow has made it was in the very very north area but only signs of winter here and in the South are lower temperatures but still way above freezing level. If your not a fan of snow and the cold its time to migrate South/West!

The sea and islands remain unaffected by the seasonal change except for slight temperature drops.

Thank you for turning into the Helix Weather Channel.

Howlite padded across the cold snow, his lips curved in what seemed to be a permanent frown. He was the first one to leave his former pack. He wasn't sure if the rest of his siblings had stayed or gone. It had been a while since he left, almost a whole month. A month since he found out... Jaden wasn't his real father. He still felt bitter about that, that they would keep it a secret from him, although in a way, he felt he always knew. He snorted, shaking his head to clear the thoughts. Whether he knew who his real father was or not didn't matter. He was strong enough to survive, wasn't he? Sure, he was just an adolescent, but that shouldn't matter much. He had left the Neutral lands for the time being so that he wouldn't have to see his family. He had hoped for less snow but that didn't seem to be the case either. He didn't really mind but it got so frustrating trying to do anything. He wasn't made to live on top of cold powder. He turned, loking towards the South. Maybe if he went there, instead? Tales of the cold North had reached his ears, of course, and what better way to leave the cold then to go away from where it came from?

Hunter snarled as she bit the white fluff all around her. She HATED the snow. Just hated it! She snapped some up in her maw, crunching it, sneering as it melted. That'd teach it.

She hated it because it made flying cold and hard, it made walking cold and hard and it made her fur cold and hard. She shivered and began to dig, desperatly trying to find the grass below. Her paws became wet as snow wedged under her claws. She bucked her hind feet, having a right fit about it.

As she tantrumed, she didn't notice a snow white helix coming towards her. She rolled about, her wings kicking up small flurries as she barked, trying to fan away the falling flakes.

As Howlite continued forward, he noticed a strange thing in front of him. It seemed the be the powder called snow... exploding. He would have turned away from it if it wasn't barking so much. He would have liked to say he was curious and that was what he told himself, but really, he was just longing to find his real father. Was his father some sort of crazy maniac? Left alone in the snow? He would be content to just know.... At the edge, he finally caught a whiff of the helix. A female. So it wasn't his father. His hope quickly died away and what was left was anger and disappointment. As usual, he wasn't very skilled at controlling his anger, and he flicked some snow at the flailing helix. "Stop that!" he snarled at her.

She turned to him rapidly and snarled as she crouched down, ears flicked back, lips lifted. She snapped out of her tantrum at that moment and barked at him several times. She flared her wings wide and took a threating step forwards. "SNOW BAD!" She hissed, her huge fangs glinting.

Howlite blinked at her speed, then quickly hid his surprise. He noted her position, ready to attack, and he himself crouched. He fluffed up his mane, trying to look more threatening than her large wings and long claws. A fight seemed to be what he needed right now. He leaped for her, his jaws open. Of course, he had never fought before, as he had often kept himself away from company, and so he did not know that only fools would make a move like that.

She was a trained fighter. She had fought with her siblings and other helixes many times, often maiming or killing them. Her collar had been won when she killed a human's hunting dog.

She merley stepped back as he leapt, lifting into the air and quickly circling him. She barked viciously as she swooped from behind, her huge talons and fangs ready to tear him apart.

Howlite expected something warm to end up in his jaws and he was surprised to find his paws under him, his mouth filled with snow, and the powder all around him. He grunted, getting back up. It was just one mistake, right? He would just have to get better. He looked around quickly, wondering where she was, when he heard barking behind him. He turned, only to see her claws and fangs glinting, heading right for him. A yelp escaped his lips as he fell back and, going on instinct alone, he clawed at whatever his paws touched, bit whatever his fangs met.

He got a big mawful of her paw fur. She snarled and snapped her fangs on his mouth, trying to rip her paw free. She swiped at his eye with her huge talons, roaring and beating her wings, her rat like tail whipping his sides and face.

Howlite was pleased to feel something soft in his mouth and he bit down hard. He had time to realize it was the soft padding of a paw before something bit his muzzle and he shut his eyes closed tightly, trying to ignore the pain and keep his grip. Suddenly, there was a burning pain in his eye and he cried out as a gust of wing brushed him followed by whippings. He let go of the paw, wanting to escape the hurt for a while, and he ran a few feet away, just to get his bearings. He turned to watch her, one eye closed and dripping blood, growling. Now he was unsure if he really would come out on top for this fight and he continued to watch her, hate flashing in his open eye.

She flared her wings once more, standing on three paws. Her hurt one was tucked to her belly fur. "You've hurt hunter. Hunter ouch..." she licked her bad paw, putting it down. For once, she was thankful of the cooling effect the snow had. She then began to banter him. "YOU GREAT UGLY MONGREL! A FACE EVEN DADDY DOESN'T LIKE! NASTY! NO FRIENDS! IF YOU HAD FRIENDS YOU WOULD BEAT HUNTER! BUT THERE'S NO-ONE COMING TO SAVE THE FAT, UGLY HELIX! NOPE NOPE! BETTER OFF DEAD! HUNTER KILL! DO THE WORLD A FAVOUR! WHITE AS BIRD PLOP AND TWICE AS STINKY!"

Howlite's ears flattened as the female spoke, saying out loud his fears. Yes, he was the only albino, the one without markings in his whole litter. He had six siblings... six... and it was him who was left ugly and alone with a pelt as white as the snow he hated so much, him who had slight pink marks which he was often taunted for, him who had the eyes which sent others packing and left him even more alone. All of her words... they were true. His head lowered but his expression never changed and he backed off one step before he realized what he was doing. "What about you?" he started, his voice shaking slightly. "What about you?" he repeated, his voice getting higher and deeper. "What kind of ugly monster are you with your scars and floppy ears? Where's the fur on your tail and what are those things on your back? Wings? They look like rotting wood and your fur is as dirty as the ground I sit on!" he continued the insults, his voice getting higher each time, as if making someone else feel bad about themself would make him better.

She seemed to be smirking as he insulted her. She took another step in advancment, licking her long fangs. "Only a coward is hurt by words. Worse then a human pet! Fight like a helix!" She flared her wings once more, pacing slightly to the side. "Idiot. Not even colour wants to be your friend. No wonder you is all alone." Her voice was dark and sultry, but deep and slightly crackled. "Hunter happy her fur is dirty and scarred. Shows Hunter not afraid to fight! White fur, no scars, no dirt...you is still just a little baby." She scooped snow in her wings and flung it at him.

Howlite stopped when he noticed the female's smirk and the bridge of his nose furrowed in anger. Would everything always seem to be against him? He pressed his lips together firmly, trying to look brave at least. He didn't want to be beaten again but to him, his pride was much more important and he refused to run. He was surprised and hurt by her words, but he realized that what she said was probably true and he tried to ignore them. His head lowered as he lost himself in the insults again. Her flared wings made her look larger and he fluffed out his fur to try to look more fierece. Howlite blinked his hurt eye furiously why she spoke, trying to get the blood away. His vision was slightly blurred but it was better then just seeing through one eye. He shook himself, trying to toughen himself up to charge again, when the snow she flung hit him right in the face. Of course, one could not learn how to be a good fighter from just one small fight, and so, Howlite, forgetting what happened before, ran at her again. "Allow me to rip those unsightly things from your back!" he yelled, turning so he could go at her from the side, aiming for her wings. When he was close, instead of trying to claw or bite at her, he pounced.

She watched him the entire time and snarled as she crouched, beating her wings as he aimed for them. Her thumb talons, huge and glinting, struck at the air as he neared and she barked insanely. Never had such a WEAK being put up such a fight against her. She whipped the air with her tail once more, drooling as her paw bled into the snow.

Howlite could smell her breath and feel the wind from her wings in mid-air. It was already too late and he couldn't stop himself now that all of his paws were off the ground and he collided into one of her paws. He fell to the snow with an oof!, a small scratch on his forehead, and he scrambled closer to her. Unintentionally, his clambering paws sent some snow flying her way and, finally reaching her side, he snapped his jaws and gripped the tip of one of her wings. Hanging tight seemed to hurt her paw last time and Howlite, hoping it would do the same to her wing, braced himself.
