The day was warm, but not overly so. It was a good day to hunt, but also a good day to be lazy. In fact, Janja was dozing lazily just outside her den. The sun warmed her fur and skin, which further relaxed her.
It wasn't normal for Janja to relax like she was. In fact, she had been rather stressed of late. She didn't know how to be a mother. She was still so young. Even though she didn't birth this pup, she could still feel the maternal instincts stong inside of her like a burning inferno. It wasn't duty that kept her in place. It was want. She wanted to protect the litle female she had taken in. The beatifully colored pup with such emotional scar already.
Janja pulled her head up and used huer eyes to find where her pup was.

Quietly stalking a dragonfly in the grass, Uzuri was worlds away from her current position; her paws scraped the ground gently, and her muscles tensed with anticipation. Being back with Janja made Uzuri feel safe and relaxed. Having a mother like figure around was a good thing, she thought, and she only hoped that the feeling was mutual.
She leapt up quickly, pawing at the zooming dragonfly. Although disappointed when she missed, Uzuri wasted no time finding something else to do. She wandered amongst the grass, and finally found a place to lay and roll around in the dirt. To any predator, she stuck out perfectly amid the contrasting ground.

It only took a second for Janja to stop her pup sticking out sorely from the grass. A quirked smile crossed the adolescents maw as she watched the pup attempt to pounce onto a dragonfly. Janja gave a wide, but quiet yawn and pushed her body up. Her gloved paws lazily let her walk toward the blue pup. "What are you up to, Uzuri," Janja said with a bought of laughter evident in her words.

Uzuri spotted Janja walk over towards her in the corner of her eye. "The sun makes me bored." she fondled the outlines of clouds with her paws. "Are we gonna go do something today?" she leapt onto her feet, rearing for excitement. "It's not too fun just sitting around here all day........it's just the two of us all the time, and no one comes to play." Uzuri puckered her lips out in frustration, and rubbed her front leg where a healed scar lay imbedded in her fur.

Leini pressed her nose lightly to Uzuri's nose. "We could go chase some birds around the water," She suggested almost thoughtfully. "Or we could wander north for a bit and see what's in that direction." Janja pulled her nose away from the pup's with a smile. "I'm sure we can dfind something. What do you want to do, youngin."

"I just want to go somewhere wet and cold." Uzuri stared back a Janja's large eyes. "This heat is intoxicating." she shook her head, wanting to desperately leave the heat of the savannah; the heat made her old scars swell, causing lumps on her fur.

Janja grinned. "The water's still cool in the waterhole," She commented almost merrily. It was still rather cool. Water retained heat pretty well, and it was so crisp and cool when it flowed down one's throat. "We should go swimming. Come on~" Janja started towards the water. "I'll race you there."

Uzuri bounded along in the grass beside Janja, trying to outrun her; for her size, Uzuri ran extremely fast- a trait that had to be learned when she lived alone. Splashing into the cool water, she fell back, wanting this feeling to last forever. Uzuri could stay in the water all day, but it was a foolhearted request. "I win!" she looked up at Janja triumphantly, and slumped back into the water.

When Uzuri ran past her, Janja stopped for a second before chasing the small pup into the water. Janja leaped as far as she could out into the cool water and started to paddle her legs. She let herself swim in a circle before swimming back towards Uzuri. "Indeed, you won, Uzu!" Janja said happily.

"Of course I did~" Uzuri hovered in the water. "I've had to run from things like you before." she smiled, laughing off the troubles of her past for the moment; the water cooled her senses, so she couldn't dwell on things. "Ah....." Uzu floated in the water for awhile, until the flipped over and began to sink. She snorted water out of her nose as she rose to the surface, and she splashed a pawful of water at Janja playfully.

Janja gave the pup a sad smile, but a smile nonetheless. She swore to herself now, that the pup, as long as she could help it, wouldn't be hurt anymore. Suddenly, water was splashed at her, and she yelped quietly in surprise. A giggle escaped her before she splashed water back at the pup she had claimed as a daughter.

Uzuri narrowed her eyes, sinking down into the water so only the top of her head was visible; she was prepared for battle. She morphed her mouth and sucked in water, spitting it out in a stream directly at Janja. A massive smile broke onto her face, and she ran around the shallow end of the pond happily, eyeing Janja for her next move.

Janja has a misgeivious glint in her eyes, even as she got sprayed with the stream of water from Uzuri's mouth.She lowered herself so only her nose and eyes appear under water. Her tail, though, swashed out of the water. She obviously taller dog swam to shwere her back feet sat comfortably without slipping. Though, this made her chest show. She knew she was in a 'danger zone' of getting splashed again, but that didn't matter.
With a taunting smile, she stood in front of Uzuri. Suddenly, she reared up, and with force, pushed her body back into the water hoping to splash
Uzu with the uncontroled wave that came from her body.

Being a small pup, the wave from Janja's body knocked Uzuri back, plopping her into the water. She waited for the right moment, and crept up on Janja using her watery colors; she mouthed on Janja's leg playfully, and wagged her tail in the water.

Janja gave a laugh and turned on her pup. She nosed the water, careful not to breathe any through her nose. Using her eyes, she serched for Uzuri with grin on her face. "I'll find you, pup," She commented in a sing-song voice.
