Kash stepped out of the locker room, her new hairpin pulling her bangs out of her face, a grin on her face. Her eyes roamed the gym, settling on Kaimi standing where Chris had just left her, and she broke into a jog, dodging around people as best as she could and tripping over herself twice.
She was a bit out of breath by the time she reached the other girl, but she was used to that. "Hi," she said.

"Thanks!" Kash said cheerfully. "You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find the stuff to match it. Especially the stockings. But that's not why I'm here," she added, opening her hip pouch. She frowned slightly and started to dig inside.
"Oh," she added a bit belatedly. "I'm your secret Santa."

"Yeah? I love the socks!" Kaimi responded. Actually, she loved the socks and the necklace and the hair clip and everything. But the socks really stood out in her mind. (Though Naomi had said they didn't match her dress and hadn't let her wear them that night.)

"Yeah, weren't they great?" Kash asked enthusiastically. "I thought they'd look really good on you, too." It seemed she had a thing for socks and stockings.
"Where is it," she muttered, digging deeper into the little pouch. "I don't know how it keeps running away since it's in a bell--" She stopped, a triumphant look on her face. "Found it!" she said, pulling a puff stuck to a little gold bell bag out of her purse.

"I love them. With the scarf and gloves I can stay warm." This was said appreciatively. "Ooh!" Taking the little puff and bell, Kaimi admired it. "What is it?"

"It's a um... well... it was poofy and soft, so I thought you'd like it!" Kash said, flushing slightly. "But they come in these little bell bag thingies and won't come out until Christmas, so you gotta wait until then before you can see it."
In other words she had no idea what it was, but it had caught her eye as she passed the store. Kash tended to do things like that.

Kaimi beamed. "I love it!" She did tend to be drawn to poofy and soft. Impulsively, she leaned forward and gave Kash a big hug. "Thank you!"

"It's not even out of the bag, yet, but okay!" Kash said happily, hugging the other girl back. "Maddy was my secret santa," she went on, poking the silver star shaped hairpin in her bangs. "She got this for me! Isn't it pretty? Who were you secret santa for?"

"Well, I love the puff part and I can't wait to see whats in the bag!" Kaimi admired the hairpins. "Oh, those are pretty! They'll look so nice on you! I had Chris. I got him a recipe box with some recipes in it and some empty cards so he can write down more recipes."

Kash laughed. "He's probably my sister's," she confided. "Because he gave her these GIGANTIC gingerbread cookies and told her that she had to share with me. They were all like over a foot tall and an inch thick and covered with frosting and candy. I'm still working on eating one of them and I've had it for almost a week."
She might have been exaggerating the size, but with Chris, who knew?

Having witnessed Chris eating, Kaimi could totally believe that the gingerbread cookies were at least a foot tall. "Wow." She said, impressed. "I made him some cookies, but nothing nearly as huge as that. Are you having fun at the party so far?"

"You know me," Kash said with a shrug. "I've tripped at least twice, spilled my punch three times, got stepped on a couple of times, too, but other than that it hasn't been that bad!" She had asked for metal toed boots for Christmas, and had high hopes that she would get them.
That would take care of the being stepped on part, at least.

"I thought having a tail was supposed to help with balance." Kaimi teased gently. "I'm just hoping there will be dancing soon." She was itching to dance with other people, since she usually had to do it alone.

"I figure you just need to find an empty piece of floor," Kash said with a shrug. "And maybe tell the person in control of that really bad Christmas music track to turn it up or something." She looked around, then pointed at a man in the corner sitting next to the record player. "Oh! It's Mister Shade! And he's... wearing ear muffs. That is SO wrong."
