The young adolescent leopard had slept longer than he had wanted to. Instead of say...an hour, 4 hours had passed. He quickly scrambled to his feet, not even noticing that he might be disturbing the peaceful female, Mkia. The buzzards were pecking at his lion! His breakfast! With a growl he leaped onto the lion corpse in hopes of chasing the birds away. But what was worse is that he saw a small family of hyenas watching nearby. Hyenas were smart enough not to mess with something higher up on the food chain. Grumbling he yelled to them.
"Get the hell away!" And he watched as the hyenas scampered off.
Ugh. How disgusting that the scavengers were planning on stealing he and Mkia's food source. Looking down on what was left, there was still plenty enough for the rest of the day, but not enough to last them for much longer. Would they find another dead lion laying around? How hard could it be?
"Damn." He muttered.

Mkia looked up quickly, strartled out of her sleep when she heard Kenya yelling about something. Bizar... what was going on? Her eyes snapped open and she glanced around, spotting the birds. Despite her usually good-nature, she hissed, getting to her feet and snapping at the birds, driving her away.
"Stupid buzzards!" She said, chasing the vultures away, even wandering further to make sure that they stayed away. Then she glanced back to see Kenya, blinking when she saw him getting rid of the hyenas who had been gathering near-by.
"Oh dear..." She mumbled, coming back to the lion and checking it over and making sure that they still had plenty left. It looked alright to her... but how long had she slept? She hadn't meant to drift off. She had left their food completely unguarded!
"I'm so sorry Kenya... I didn't realize how tired I was." She sighed, eveluating the lion, and noticing the rabbit she had caught earlier had been dragged off.

"Grr...it's not your fault. I should have stayed awake. How stupid!" The green leopard growled. "There's some left at least."
His eyes glanced over the carcass once more and he nibbled at it for his breakfast. It was so tasty, even leftover. Sure beat the hell out of his previous diet of rabbits.
"I wonder..." Kenya stated, his eyes lighting up. "How come no one else has thought of this? Surely we aren't the first to discover the taste of lion. We've got to find more lions...my taste for them keeps growing."
The leopard grinned, almost with a hint of deviousness. Perhaps the two of them could find lions on the verge of dying. Well...at least he could. Mkia wasn't really the sort for violence.

"No, I should have stayed awake too..." Mkia sighed, blaming herself more than she blamed Kenya. Which, as per usual, came from the fear that he would leave her behind if he thought she was too useless to even guard food. But she had to agree, at least there was something left for them to eat.
She leaned down and also ate some, glad that there was enough left for breakfast... but it certainly wouldn't last much longer than that. Which was a little sad, because it was the most delicious thing she had ever tasted in her entire life. She didn't know what she would do without the taste in her mouth...
"Maybe they were too afraid? Lions are... well, they're quite a bit bigger than you and I are." Mkia pointed out, though lions had never really scared her. Nothing did, as long as she was around other creatures, "But we should find more dead lions... I mean, it's like we're doing them a favor, isn't it? Cleaning up dead bodies, keeping away nasty birds..." A good way to think about it. The concept of actually killing a lion hadn't even remotely occured to her yet.

The male leopard grinned and nodded at her words, but kept thinking about killing a lion. Why hasn't anyone ever stood up to a lion and killed it? Leopards shouldn't as wimpy as they are. With a grunt, the leopard moved away from Mkia and the carcass and looked off into the distance.
"How about we take a look at what else is out there? Bound to be another...perhaps bigger than this one!" He said, his eyes lighting up. "There's plenty of lions out there!"
With a flick of his tail he began stalking through the grass, almost as if he were a cub again. But no, this full grown leopard wasn't at all a cub, he was a killer. Now just to find his prey...

Mkia could only watch him, fascinated in a way by how happy he was about this idea. Though she was interested, and she was interested, because the meat was incredibly tasty... it still seemed strange. The idea of killing a lion. They were awfully big... well, maybe they could just find more dead ones. Lions were all over the place, surely there would be more around somewhere? It made sense to her. Besides, Kenya seemed really happy about it. And she had never wanted to deny him happiness when he had said he wouldn't leave her...
"Okay!" Mkia said, sitting up, enthusiastic to the bone as always, "I mean, I've seen lions all over the place! We find a pride... wait for one of them to die or have a war..." She mentioned, not thinking that it would be possible for the two of them to kill one themselves. Not yet. "Plenty to go around. We'd be set for life, I'm sure."
She quickly trotted after him, seeming to dance with glee in every step. After all, they had found something so much better to eat. So much more... worth-while than a little rabbit. And though Mkia had never been a killer at heart, she had taken her first step with Kenya to being one. After all, if he never left her, she would never leave him.
