Hello fellow members of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints(was challenged by my sunday school teacher not to say mormon church) I'm having a problem with my dad and somone from my yopung womens class that i grew up with but don't nessesarily like at all.
I have to give a secret sister gift for CHRISTmas tomorow at churh to a girl that treated me rather badly, has bad mouthed me and put me soen and that is the last thing that i wanna do but i have to. And i need help forgiving her so i can give more easily to her i want to be forgiving it's just not that easy for me.
And then there is my dad he dissapoined me yet again and i'm hurt i need a way o forgive him.
So if you has to forgive and forget when you really didn't want to what would you do?

I'd pray a lot. If you even have the smallest desire to forgive, then pray to have help in that process. It may not be in the time you want it in, but in time you will feel forgiveness. Also I find it really hard to be angry etc when I'm reading scriptures, an uplifting talk, etc. So that may be something else you may try in addition to prayer.

The problem with not forgiving is that it ultimately does more damage to us than to the person we have a problem with. It doesn't mean we forget everything - because then we would keep having the same problems with the same people, but there comes a time when in our hearts we can feel a lightness - an encompassing by the Holy Ghost that helps us to be everything WE were meant to be - the other person is going to have to work out their own salvation - we need to be true to who and what WE are - literal children of a Heavenly Mother and Father with the potential to becomes Gods and Goddesses. Can you imagine your Heavenly Mother or Father holding grudges? That is part of the reason it is so important for us to learn to let those things go and turn them over to Jesus and Heavenly Father for Judgment - so that we can become more like Them. It is easier said than done, but I found that knowing why I should do it and turning it over to the right person helped me to be better able to move on and be true to me. Good luck and know you are not alone in this! We all have at least one person in our lives we will have "emotional challenges" with! 4laugh
