The snow was barely falling, only lightly brushing the tips of the trees with small snowflakes as a pale stallion trotted his way through the powdery covering on the ground. He wasn't an overly large stallion, but he was well built, with strong muscles that rippled beneath his grey hide. Far different from the silvery colt he had once been, the small trusting foal had grown into an adult at last. An adult who had ceased trusting every stranger on a whim. But, he shouldn't be thinking of such thoughts right now, when the gently snow looked so pretty as it fell through the sky.

Alexiel enjoyed the snow, not just because it matched his coat fairly well. He had always loved the feeling of racing through it, his heels kicking up flurries and tumbling into snowdrifts. He no longer played those same games, but once and a while he still enjoyed the feeling of running through it. Perhaps he had picked it up from his mother. Not his biological mother of course, but from the mare who had so kindly rescued him and given him a family.

He thought about her sometimes, felt bad sometimes, for leaving so suddenly, running away without a word to her. But he hadn't planned it that way, it had just sort of happened. It hadn't exactly been his idea. Alexiel sighed slightly, nosing a bit of snow off of the branch on an evergreen and then twitching when it melted on his nose. But, no use dwelling on the past, not like that was going to pop back into his life anytime soon.

For now maybe, he would try to enjoy the frosty winter's day, give himself a little enjoyment. Something that was rarer now that he was grown. The foal Alexiel had been would have loved a day like this, perfect for adventures. He smiled a little at the memory. Perhaps he was a little old for snow adventures, but still, no use not having fun today.

Neva snorted in irritation as she kicked at the snow. Oh how she wished the stuff would melt already. Knowing she was part of a family that enjoyed the snow disgusted her. Everything about her family disgusted her. Even more so was the fact that she knew her mother had taken in an orphan basket. She remembered her visit with that foal and hoped she had scared him off. Stupid little bug.

She glances up and noticed a figure in the distance. Great. Could she not ever be alone? Perhaps maybe this figure wouldn't notice her. She kept walking and kicking the snow as she did, just hoping it would just ignore her. She knew it wouldn't happen but it was worth the thought. Just keep walking. Walking was a good way to get ignored, or so she thought.

Despite his musing, Alexiel was not so absorbed that he didn't notice a figure in the distance, kicking up snow as it walked. He paused, wondering if the figure had noticed him. Looking closer, he was able to discern that it was a mare, looking like a wind from the distance. Well, it was a nice day outside, and so Alex figured he might as well go and say a hello. Perhaps the mare was playing with the snow as well, he knew several soquili that enjoyed the white stuff.

He snorted, changing his course as he trotted his way over, wings held lightly at his sides and he danced lightly through the snow. That was another plus about wings. At least he was never stuck in the snow, when it got too much for him, he could always fly out of it if he needed to. Perhaps this mare would like to fly with him? He always enjoyed that in the snow as well, given it wasn't falling too hard.

The closer he got, the more familiar she started to look, though he couldn't figure out where he knew her from, or if he knew her at all. Alexiel frowned...she looked, almost like his mother. But it wasn't, he was pretty certain it wasn't her.

"Hello the...." He had begun to call out a greeting when the words died on his tongue. Not his mother, not anyone even close to his mother. He started to recognize that faint purple shimmer of her coat. A twisting feeling started in the pit of his stomach, he knew this mare...or at least he thought he did. A total stranger, who somehow had seemed to know who he wasn, though he wasn't sure how. There was no mistaking it, it was her.

Neva heard the start of a greeting called out to her and she couldn't help but again snort in irritation. One day she'll get her day of solitude. Glancing up at the figure coming closer to her she noticed that it had multiple wings. Great. An angeni. Lovely. Oh how she hated the angenis. Stuck up little things they were. And her mother had also taken one in.

Then she stared at it a bit longer, the coloring looking very familiar. And then it clicked. She smirked as made her way closer to him. There was no way she was going to pass this chance up. "Why hello there. Bug. I see you've survived. Did mother dearest tell you that you didn't belong finally? Or did you believe me and run away from home?" Her voice was taunting him as she thought back to that day she ran into her mother's little orphan foal.

Alexiel stared as she turned, recognizing her face. Yes, no mistaking it, it was her. The mare that had been the catalyst for so much more. As she approached him with that familiar sneer on her face, he felt a new emotion rush to the surface. Anger because of what she had caused him to do, and anger because she was right. He had run away, he had believed her and run, and in the process, met with his past. It had tormented him for a long time, a very long time. In a way, really, she was the reason his life had turned upside down. Were it not for her, he might never realized the truth of his birth, might have been happy.

Certainly, Alexiel would have eventually realized that his parents were not his birth parents, but it would have been later, when he was older. And he never would have encountered Wyrm. But, that was past. He had a new goal now, one that he had been training himself for day in and day out. He was not the guillible foal that she had first met. He was stronger now, determined. If she had thought that he was going to back down and cower away as he had before, she was wrong.

He looked at her coldly, stepping forward as she did. But some of her words hit home. Alexiel had run away, deserting the mother who loved him in his fear and naievety. He understood better now how twisted the creature before him was. His mother probably had loved him quite a bit, but instead he had believe this mare, who for whatever reason, had decided that his life would be good to ruin.

"Yes," He said in an icy tone, "I ran away. Congratulations, you plan worked. For whatever twisted reason you found to ruin my life it succeeded."

As she listened to the bug talk, Neva couldn't help but grin maliciously. Her dear mother's heart had been broken with his running off. It had worked perfectly. "I wasn't ruining your life. Bug. I was ruining my mother's life. She was so devastated when you left." As she remembered back to that fateful day she had been lurking about seeing if the orphan had left, she couldn't help but increase her smile.

"She was so heartbroken that she fled the place she has called home for years now. And it was all your fault." Neva was enjoying this to much. She couldn't believe how well this had worked out. "So if you were to try and go back to the home you left, no one would be there. You're an orphan all over again. Congratulations." She knew though that her mother had only left to take her idiotic father Shihab up into the snow lands of the north. But Alexiel didn't know this. She was going to enjoy this.

He stiffened suddenly as she said those words. "My mother's life." Her mother, not his. But that would make Neva...that would make her Adelle's daughter. He had been so foolish. Of course she was his mother's daughter, she even looked so similar. He had thought so when he had met her as a colt, but she had told that her parents were dead and foolishly he had believed her. Neva. Of course. His mother had sometimes spoken of a daughter that no longer kept in contact, but she didn't do it too often, for it always made her sad and whistful. That daughter was Neva, the decietful mare standing before him.

So his mother, had fled? Shame washed through him, but with it, a new wave of anger. Yes, he had deserted his mother, driven her to run off to her former home. But all from the cause of her own daughter. What could possibly possess her to do such a thing? How could anyone hate their own mother that much. Especially if that mare was Adelle, who didn't have a mean bone in her body, who went out of her way to put everyone else's welfare before her own. It was despicable.

"Why?" He asked in a cold voice. "Why are you so desparate to ruin your own mother's life. She loves you you know. She used to talk about you sometimes, but it made her sad to think of you. The worst part is, no matter what you do to her she'll still love you. So why are you so determined to make her life bad?" A feeling licked at him, hot fury smoldering in the pit of his stomach. His mother didn't deserve that, she was the kindest mare he knew. To have such a daughter as this one...it was a shame. It was one thing, to ruin his life. It had been horrible, but he had accepted that he would probably have found out eventually anyways. His life had already been broken far before Neva came along. She had just given it a push. But to willfully hurt his mother, who had probably never done anything mean in her entire life was another thing entirely. What was wrong with this mare?

Neva laughed at Alexiel's words, her laugh sounding high pitched and crazy like. "Loves me? I don't want her love. I'm trying to get myself disowned from that family of crazies." She stomped on the ground imagining it to be her family. "My family is so despicable. Call themselves wind dancers, always so nice and caring, and my sister has not a brain in her head. I want no part of that family." Her voice was turning high pitched as she talked of her family.

"Then to top it off she takes in an orphan. Poor little orphan can't live on his own. Boo hoo. Her kindness is going to get her killed one day." She glared at the angeni as she spoke. He was not going to get her to change her mind on her family and if he had problems with it than so be it. This was none of his concern. "Besides why should it matter to you. Bug. You're the one that ran off and deserted her. It's none of your concern as to what or why I'm doing anything."

She was...trying to get herself disowned? Well, now things were starting to become a lot clearer, and yet a lot more confusing at the same time. The fact that she wanted to be disowned would explain some of her actions....however the motive just became more and more mysterious. Why on earth was she trying to become disowned? And with such fervour too. Why on earth would she want to be disowned from such a family? Not that she would be disowned that. Alexiel knew that. Neva probably did too, which was most likely why she was trying so hard. Adelle would never disown her own daughter, no matter what that daughter did. Neva didn't deserve her. Not at all.

His ears laid flatter and flatter against his skull as she spouted off about her family, sounding barely sane as she ranted. What was so wrong with a kind family? Was Neva really that sadistic...wait, yes. Yes she was most certainly that sadistic. Perhaps it would have made her happy to have been born into a family full of hatred? She would have fit in better there in any case, Alexiel could practically see the anger radiating from her.

"Her kindness? Her kindness will get her killed? How about you? Maybe one day your efforts will get her killed. Would you be satisfied then? If your mother died because of you?" He thundered, staring furiously down at her insolent glare. He couldn't imagine even Neva could be that sick, enough that she would want her mother dead. He already knew the mare wanted nothing to do with her family, but surely not even she could be that evil?

"If you want no part of your family, why are you going to such effort to interfere and ruin your family's life? You could just leave, pretend they don't exist. Seems strange doesn't it, that for someone that wants nothing to do with them, you put so much into deliberately twisting around their lives?" The next part stung, when she talked of him running off. He had run off, no one could deny that. He felt bad about that, had felt bad since the day he had met Wyrm, and realized that she had loved him far more than he knew. But Neva was wrong. It most definately concerned him as to why she was still trying to ruin her mother's life. His mother's life.

"If it got her killed? I would be satisfied." Her voice turned into a malicious whisper as she glared more at the angeni orphan. Neva's thoughts turned to a life where her mother exsisted no more. It would make her happy to see her mother dead and her family all not knowing what to do. She knew her brothers would be after her if they ever knew it was her but it would be worth it. Oh how it'd be worth it.

Neva turned her attention back to Alexiel and snorted. Pretend they don't exist? Sure. Why not? It's not like they don't follow her around. She knew for a fact that at least one family member was always following her, no matter where she went. They all stopped when she started doing the things she did, but, she wasn't going to tell the bug this. "Hmm why should an orphan bug be telling me what to do, when it was the one that caused the damage." The mare started to walk around Alexiel as she talked. "You had the choice of listening to a stranger or staying with your mother, but, instead you trusted the stranger more. More than the mother that had loved you and cared for you, and took you in." She stopped in front of him after she had finished her circle and kicked snow at him.

"So, don't go giving advice to someone when you are the one that made the mistake. This is all on you." Neva smirked as she waited to watch the affect this would have on the angeni.

His ears went instinctively back as her tone lashed at him. She would be satisfied? Satisfied if her own mother was dead? How could she...how could she say such a thing so easily, the words hadn't even stumbled coming out of her mouth. Surely not even this mare could be so evil as to wish one of her one family dead. The mother that raised and cared for her no less! It was...disgusting. Alexiel couldn't believe he was even talking to her. But something wouldn't let the better part of him take control and walk away from her. Not that she would have let him anyways. She seemed to derive a great deal of sick please in tormenting him, he seriously doubted she would just let him go and not follow, pestering him with more spiteful words.

Alexiel snorted angrily as she accused him of having caused damage. What's more, she was blaming it, all of it, everything on him. He looked down for a moment, refusing to let her see the shame that stirred in his stomach. But he mastered it, staring back up at her more angrily.

"Say what you will, and I take responsibility for my actions, but don't think you didn't play your part. I would say that you played a fairly big role, but you're probably sick enough to be proud of that." He fumed. Okay, so perhaps Alexiel hadn't quite mastered his emotions yet. She would probably use that against him somehow to.

It was infuriating, talking to her, and yet he couldn't just walk away. There was a part of him that told him to let old ghosts lie...but the greater part of him couldn't. Secretly, there was a part of him, possibly the same part that possessed him to hunt Wyrm, that revelled in the argument. Though he detested it, it felt almost good to rage at something, at someone. To get some sort of release from his bottled up emotions. And oh, did he have plenty to rage about to Neva.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 10:29 pm

"I played a big part? The only thing I did was tell you the truth about the mare you called your mother. You were the one that decided to run away and cause her so much pain that it drove her away to her first home." Neva snorted angrily as she spoke. Her voice was getting ever more malicious as she spoke.

She watched as the angeni bug was getting angrier by the moment. This was getting to good. "You caused her the pain. You're actions decided it all. You know you can't blame this all on me." Neva was detirmined to break him. Perhaps even get mad enough to even lash out at her. He could possibly kill her. She knew this. And she wanted to use it to her advantage.

"So come on. Bug. Try to blame it on me. I only spoke the truth. Sure I may have had purposes behind it but you were the one that made the choice to run away. I didn't make that choice for you. So just keep trying to blame it on me."

Alexiel almost flinched. Not quite, but almost. Not because her tone was malicious, or that she spoke with a fervor, determined to break him. He could take that, take all of that any more. Anything spiteful or malicious she threw at him he would take without a blink. It was not her tone, or the fact that she hated him that got to him. It was his mother that got to him. Just as Neva had used him to get to Adelle, so she was using his mother to get to him. His own pain he could take, in whatever dose it came. But his mother's pain...such a kind and compassionate mare...it wounded Alexiel deeply than anything. She should never have to deal with pain of any kind, she was so innocent, purer than a foal. She shouldn't have to deal with that. With him. With her spiteful daughter that for some inconceivable reason found grounds to hate her.

He shuddered at her words, trying to repress it but not completely succeeding. Guilt, waves and waves of it poured over him, Alexiel was swimming in an ocean of it. Drowning was more like it. When would he be free of it? All this guilt, so many things, all his fault, all weighing him down. His family, who died protecting him, now his adopted mother, kinder than anyone had ever been had been hurt because of him. Maybe it would never end, maybe he only ever ended up cursing those around him.

He glared up at Neva, eye's flashing. He wouldn't mind if she became cursed, wouldn't mind one bit. Wouldn't mind her pain at all. As soon as the thought was out, he recoiled in horror. Never, never had he wished pain onto another, his very blood cried out against it, the angeni nature too pure. But he could not unthink it. And as she spoke against with her poisoned tongue, he hissed at her, lunging forward until he was inches from her and snarled out what words managed to get past his anger.

"Shut up. I deserted her, but maybe I wouldn't have had to if you had any life of your own. No friends, you ostracized yourself from your family. You only live through the pain of others. How sick are you?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 11:29 pm

This was so much fun to the mare as she taunted the angeni. She could make a sport out of this. See how many other soquili's she could anger. When he got into her face she did not flinch. Her 'evil' intentions running high, causing her adrenaline to overload. This was a wonderful feeling, she enjoyed it, and now that she has experienced it she wanted to always have this feeling.

"You're not my father so I won't shut up. I don't need friends. At least I'm not off trying to find something to kill. Though you've already killed mother's hope and spirit. Now all you should do is just kill her physically. Put her out of the pain you caused her." Neva snorted in the angeni's face before pulling her head back. "Or are you to afraid to face her now? To afraid to face the shame that you've brought upon yourself. You're such a greedy child. You take all you can get from the family that took you in. And then you run away, not bothering to care about what you'd be doing to them. Such a greedy little bug."
