Aiyanna huffed, watching with wide eyes as her breath fogged in the chill air in front of her. What made it do that? Mama hadn't said anything about it, so was it just a mystery? What she said was usually true, so...
She trailed off, distracted from her new discovery as she bounded through the knee-deep snow. Her hooves slid as she did this, barely catching their footing as she stopped beneath an evergreen where the white substance was not as thick. Her eyes caught glimpse that more than one of these trees were here, providing adequate protection from the snow as it fell from the sky. She hadn't wandered far from her mother and father, and she could always follow her tracks back... so why not explore?
Besides, it's not like there was anything to be worried about near here anyways; folding her wings tight to hee back, she bolted through the foot or so of snow and under the next tree, hopping from one to the other while suppressing a giggle all the while.

BrRrRrRrR, dang it was getting colder each day. Tiny ears perked and flicked often, always put on alert by the slush of falling snow piles. What a wicked touch of nature, this...this...cold clouds that touched the ground. Was the sky falling? Mother didn't seem worries, so it couldn't be that. Shuffling his bent legs, Manjii' sighed as he buried his nose further onto his knees. Didn't work all that well against the cold air. Not as well as momma's fur did, and she was away at the moment to find some berries.
Glancing around, the boy peered outside the cover of the tree leaves. They too were blanketed in the white stuff, but that thankfully saved him from being covered too. But look...what was that? A dark splot pounced around under the other trees, and Manjii' squinted to see harder. Was that another soqu?

Bounding to one last tree, the filly shook the snow out of the end of her tail and stood quietly beneath a broad branch, crimson eyes watching the snow settled on it above her quite warily. She was about to lie down for a moment when a soft bit of color caught her attention. It was barely visible past the branches and snow, but the blue and little bits of orange stuck out against the white.
Come to think of it, she must stick out pretty badly, too.
Ruffling her wings and slinking out from beneath her shelter, her ears pricked forward to see if what- or rather, who, was hiding would shun her away or at least say hello. She grinned broadly, unaware of the way her hooves had begun to slide in the slippery snow.
"Hey there~" she called, tail swishing as she stopped in the middle between two trees, "Whatcha doin', all the way in there? My mama says this stuff's harmless, y'know~ it's cold, but I think it's harmless, yeah?" She paused, thinking about it for a moment. "At least, I hope so. If not, I'm thinkin' we're going to have a problem here."

It....was another soquili. Manjii' blinked, torn between being jolly or grumpy about the visitor. Either way, his light eyes stared intently at the other, curious why she had pounced over here so merrily. And she had feathers....but not at all like momma's. How curious! The youngling cocked his head and flicked his ears as she called out. And he glanced side to side, only to see that she was indeed talking to him.
Adjusting his knees, Jumanjii' stood his full height. Though the air was quick to attack what was once warm, he did admit to needing the stretch. "Eh? I could easily be asking ye why you're out there. Not the warmest spot ta be, out in such deep powder..." He used one hoof to kick at the ground under him, somewhat shallower due to the tree's coverage. Then he let out an amused chuckle. "Nah, I think it is harmless....for tha most part. But I prefer it over here; it's kinda like a cool hangout!"

It was hard for her to contain her imminent excitement that what she had found was not only friendly, but a fellow soquili as well. Her little wings ruffled again, usurping the snow that had fallen onto them and warming them just a little bit. "No, it's not exactly warm," she replied with a bit of a frown, "But if I keep moving, then I don't seem to get cold at all." Her expression flashed back to a grin, hooves lifting to allow her to prance about in her general location.
"Is it?" she inquired, pausing to creep a bit closer and get a better look at where he was. Her scarlet eyes glanced to him first, noting the cool color of his coat that had let him blend in with the tree so nicely. Maybe she should try hiding under trees instead of out in the open...
"I'm Aiyanna, by the way~" she stated suddenly, grinning broadly, "I usually don't stay around here, but the rest of my family was all passin' through. They stopped for a nap and I decided to take a look around." A soft giggle came from her throat. "Hopefully they'll still be asleep when I get back~"

Manjii', on the other hand, kept still and hushed. His normally energetic self was repressed just abit by winter's chill, but it was enough to make him feel lethargic. How....boring. Swishing his tail, the colt gave a crooked smirk. "Ah, but can ye keep moving the whole time needed? Can't burn out too fast."
He replied with a curt nod, before glancing up. Yep, the weighed down branches of the tree hung at a curve, just high enough for him to creep under. And the soft shading of the snow blanket made his little location feel like a tent, cozy and snug. "Aye enjoy it here...."
Flitting his ears, he looked back to the other foal. "Oh, name's Jumanjii'. It be nice ta meet ya, Aiyanna." He stepped near, peeking more of the world outside his tree cove. "Haha, I be doing the same all the time! Though ma usually wakes up and already knows I wandered." Stupid snow prints giving him away. Dx

The filly giggled softly, shaking her head. "Probably not," she replied, tail swatting back and forth, "But I could certainly try." Her eyes followed his gaze as she noted the perfect little cove the branch seemed to have made for him. Knowing her clumsy little self, she probably would have knocked the snow from it trying to get in...
"Jumanji?" she repeated, nodding as she committed it to memory, "That's a pretty cool name, y'know- does the rest of your family have names like that?" Aiyanna stifled a giggle as he described his mother, thinking immediately of her own should she wake from her slumber.
Her scarlet eyes glanced to the ground around her, laden with the tiny hoofprints she had left behind in her romping about. Would she be that esay to track? Hopefully if anyone came it would be daddy... at least a soft whine of 'I just couldn't help it' would get her free from any scolding. Usually, at least.
