The sea.
The most beautiful place in the world. The place that had captured the hearts and souls of many thousands of creatures - including the Goddess of Confusion. She adored the sea as much as she adored the sands of her homeland - the stretch of gold home to the Tuait'tekam. It was clear in the gleam of her eyes and in the joy of her voice.
She flew through the air - her wings battered by the strong sea wind - tumbling towards that endless stretch of water that threatened to swallow her into its depths. She'd been afraid of it once - but that was before Juuku had shown her how beautiful it could be.
So she raced towards it, and when it rolled below her she tucked her wings and dropped from the sky like a rock. For a moment it seemed as if she intended to plunge head-first into the waves but at the last moment her wings opened again and she pulled herself to fly parrallel to it, nothing but her toes clipping the white crests of the waves.
She filled her lungs with fresh, salty air and turned her head to see if Silos was following.
---
Oh, Silos was following well enough; he, however, was not indulging in air aerobatics, content to watch as the goddess flew and plunged from the sky only to pull up at the last minute. In a way, it was heart warming to see her so happy; when he paused to remember how strangely paranoid she'd been when he'd first encountered her, Silos felt strangely happy to notice a change. Because there HAD indeed been change; Rokopeli was no longer as afraid as she'd once been and took the time to live life as a game.
As it should be, Silos thought.
They were young and life was a game for them to play. They were not meant to be kept away, binded by fear and paranoia, "Yeah," he called over at her, as if to answer an unasked question, "M'right here, love, m'followin'!" he chuckled, then beat his tiny wings, only to allow himself to do what she'd not done; he plunged for the waves bellow, allowing the ocean to eat him up before resurfacing his head above the water.
---
"We were just checking!"
She grinned up at him then twisted mid-air as he plunged suddenly downwards. As he hit the water she gave a shrill cry and without warning she loosened her wings and fell down to join him.
The water hit her hard. Cold, wet, sudden. It stole the breath from her lungs and numbed movement in her limbs for a number of heart beats, Then, as if satisfied, it allowed her movement and she paddled her way furiously to the surface, breaking clear a few moments later. The sun dazzled her eyes and for a moment she paddled in a little circle, trying to find Silos again.
The waves were large and concealed him for a moment. "Silos!" She called. "Silos, where are you?" Not content with that, she sought to find his mind with her own.
~Silos? Where have you gotten to?~
---
He felt, rather than saw the way she plunged down to join him, and as she resurfaced a few meters away from him, conceled by a wave, he chuckled. Rather than answer inmediately, he took a deep breath and went underwater once more, hidden from view.
Searching for her form, he finaly found her and then burst his head out of the water just a few inches away from her, "Got cha!" he cried out in an attempt to surprise her, "I'm right 'ere. I'm not gonna go far from yah, eh? Didn'tcha already know that?" why it was he did not want to let her go, he did not go. He could not even begin to put a paw on it, but he was content with ignoring the 'whys' or 'hows' for now.
---
She released a heart-felt laugh at his sudden and unexpected appearance, pushing herself up in the water to bat at his face in play. "Silly! You scared us, you did!" Her bi-coloured eyes glittered and for a moment she seemed a cub again. A cub in a time before her mother's cruelty. A time where she could truly be innocent.
A time when she was whole, not split in two as she was now.
It was clear, however, that the time she was spending with her new friend was helping to bind the two halves together. Slowly and surely the revenge-lusting Pelli was beginning to see Roko's side of things. And, when this finally happened, they could truly be in harmony. Truly master their power.
"Sooo, you like the sea, too? We likses the sea very much! Juukie showed us the sea. Showed us how to swimses, he did!"
She paused and seemed genuinely thoughtful for a moment. "We are glad you're not going far. We likeses you here. Not want to be without you now."
---
He chuckled again, his strange, wild mane that usualy took to pointing in every which direction plastered against his forehead, allowing his horns to be seen with more ease, "Ain't that so," he said, mirth ringing in his voice, as he paddled, heading towards the shore, "Of course I do!" as he finally emerged from the water, he lowered his front half and shook himself off, trying to rid of the excess water tha clung to him.
This made his pelt stick out in even weirder angels, though it didn't seem like the male minded all that much, "I hear there's a pretty interesting pride that make their home near by! Just 'long this shore line, love. They sing and dance all day, and celebrate life. Cheerful folkes. I'd like to visit 'em one day," he liked the idea of mortals that spent their time having fun, rather than chosing to grump about anything and everything.
He was sure that this pride held onto their inner childs. Nothing pleased Silos more than that thought, "I here that the goddess of Irrationality keeps these lands as her territory, sorta like a protector of that pride an' stuff. Only seen 'er once. she's small an' blue," after a moment, he seemed to ponder over something before smiling at Rokopelli, "Yer so much prettier thu," it was blunt, as if this were merely what he thought was true, rather than a compliment, "I like you very much too and don't wanna be gone. So that's good, eh?"
---
She followed after him, shaking herself vigorously for a long moment - freeing herself of the torrent of water that seemed to weigh her down and make her twice as heavy as normal. Then, satisfied that she'd calmed the water running down her sides she bounded over to him and giggled at his mussed fur.
She reached out to pet him - trying to smooth the fur with the pads of her paw. Then he spoke and her ears swivelled round with interest. "Sing and dance?" She repeated. "Sounds like fun. We like the sound of that." Her eyes continued to twinkle. "Maybe we should go there." She giggled. "Just gotta sort out your mane there, see?"
A protector of a pride? Sort of like what she should be doing, right? She thought of the Dawn Walkers and felt a stab of guilt and then a stab of pain as she remembered why she had left there in the first place. Her fight with Nyoka. It seemed like so long ago, and it was. She'd been a juvenile then, trying desperately to make herself useful. Only to make a mistake and ruin her friendship with the snake forever.
She tried to shake off the sad thoughts, not wanting them to ruin the day. So stuck in these thoughts, his compliment took her by surprise and she ended up blushing like a fool. "We dunno, she might be prettier. We don't know. We've never seen her."
She reached out to groom some of the mane from his eyes, chuckling to herself as she did so. "You'd be pretty too, if the water didn't make your mane go all over your friendly face." She teased lightly, lowering herself into a play-bow. "You know lots of Gods and Goddesses. Do you know Juuku or Pele or maybe Bahari'nswi? They're our friends. They come here sometimes, too."
