Ammunition
7.62mm x 51 NATO rounds are the choice ammunition for this gun. Now, though most guns cannot support the recoil from a 7.62mm x 51mm the Fn 18 is not a normal gun. It is much heavier, holds much more ammo, and has much more bulk to it. As such it can take much more recoil without having trouble aiming or giving too much kick-back to the person using the gun. The gun has several shock suppressors, sound suppressors, a cool firing system, and a flash suppressor, meaning that the recoil, noise, and over-all noticeable action is reduced yes.Magazine Style The magazine feeding style is that of two styles- the first is the standard feed from the bottom with an extended 50 round clip that fits in the bottom. The second form is the top magazine that feeds in from the top. The top feeding magazine allows for two types of feeding mechanics to occur, and for more ammo to be allowed in the gun as well. There is also an auto-mated round counter that activates by a color code specific to the magazine and activates the automatic 50-round count or the 40, and then counts each round fired and displays it on the HUD device. There is also an 8-round built in 20mm grenade launcher, and as such it uses an 8 round clip magazine. For the automatic 7.62mm X 51 rounds there are also two auto-loaders which are capable of holding two magazines both for the top and bottom magazines, using a sliding and ejecting technique to eject and then load a new magazine for each magazine that is used. A near continuous 300 rounds can be fired from the weapons as when the first top magazine reloads the bottom one is instead feeding the barrel and when the bottom magazine is being replaced the top magazine is being fired from. The machine as well will not over-heat as it is a cool firing system and has the expadenture of gas throughout many of the ports, meaning that the barrel will still remain mostly cool after several hundred rounds. As well, the recoil is highly reduced and so is the sound and flash, making the gun extremely easy to fire especially at higher firing rates. It as well as an extremely quick magazine switching capability meaning that it can switch from top fed to bottom fed in fraction of a second. Though heavy, it is extremely accurate, fast, and reliable firing system that delivers a lot of firepower downrange and is decent to carry.ScopeThe scope that is on the gun is directly linked to the HUD system that can be linked to the persons wirelessly or with a wire, depending on the situation. As well, a radar, sonar, and laser system is capable of determining the distance between the end of barrel, the scope, or the person in microseconds and relaying either through the reflex sight or through the HUD system in a contact positioned on the eye or in the helmet. It as well has night vision/infrared vision abilities and a gps in the center to display certain targets and self's current positions as well as to relay them to figures in the air and on the ground, and know where one is in the midst of the battle and have others know where you are, very useful features. The scope may as well be adjusted with manually and operate without electricity, and can run for nearly 500 hours on a single battery with extremely efficient battery power. As well it automatically shuts itself off on a 15 minute timer and will activate when a round is fired or if the button is pressed, and has a iron sight integrated ontop of the scope itself, allowing the gun to be fired from ironsight as well.Grenade LauncherThe gun has an extra 8 round clip-fed grenade launcher semi-automatic integrated device that also allows for extra support on the weapon. As well, it is extremely accurate, and can fire to ranges up to 500 meters, and can use many types of charges though the main charge is either a C-4 shrapnel coated device of a shaped charge C-4 explosive grenade. The grenade launcher is integrated but extremely innovative that is is clip fed and semi-automatic; it functions similar to what an extra anti-material sniper rifle would to a normal gun that could be added, only with less range. As well, it is capable of being semi-automatic by having the grenades operate much like bullets, but using the force of the blast to reload grenade as normal, though typically uses hard to explode shaped charges meaning that heat will not set the grenade off.Cool Firing SystemThe cool firing system used has many air holes and as well a heat absorbing material inside that can dampen not only the shock and the heat but as well any heat that is in the gun can be released. The firing system is similar to that of the FN Mark 16. 17. and as well the PARAM249 machine gun.
