Lemme grab a few posts before you start, k?

As always, I like to have a sign up ORP, so here's where you post your kid coming into the gymnasium for the party. I'll post a description of the party with my opening post.

When you've gotten enough posting here for it to meet the reqs, go on and start up your own closed or open rps! You can mark them with the (Xmas 08 ) in the title so the rest of us can stalk you^_^

The gym was decked out for Christmas, complete with red and white streamers hanging from the rafters and a pretty Christmas tree right in the middle of the room. To the left there were tables covered in red and white paper tablecloths and covered with snacks. There was a gigantic punch bowl right in the middle, as well, filled with a red concoction that had a ton of raspberry sherbert floating on top of it.

Cheesy tinned Christmas music played over the loudspeaker. It was playing "Here Comes Santa Clause" but would change over to "Gramma Got Ran Over" soon enough. Kids, dressed in their best mulled around trying not to spill the punch on their white shirts or dresses.

The more "cool" or "unpopular" kids each had their own bleachers on the right side of the gym. They seemed to be intent on ignoring each other. Heaven help them if one of the other group actually had their name in the SS event.

Antony and Chris, for one rare moment, were side by side, watching for people to walk through the door. They had gotten out of morning classes to help their fathers set up the gym. Antony looked quite comfortable in a princely outfit of dress slacks and shirt. Whereas Chris was wearing a T-shirt that had a Reindeer mooning people. His mother would have killed him if she had found out he had gotten rid of his suit coat and tie the moment he could. He had a plate full of food in his hands.

Maddy had situated herself not far from the two boys, but not on any conscious purpose. So far, there didn't seem to be anyone she actually knew in the gym, aside from the teachers - and she was not going to go hang around with them.

So, she too was currently watching the doors, if not a little more intently than the others. She'd gotten to know a good deal of people lately, and was really hoping to catch one of them arriving and then latch onto them for the rest of the day.

She'd mainly gotten over her shyness, but with practically the whole school milling about, was it any wonder that old habits were coming back?

Kaimi clutched a brightly wrapped package to her chest as she entered the gymnasium. Naomi had set out a cream colored turtleneck and a dark cranberry colored velvet skirt this morning. She hated the way the turtleneck clung to her throat, it felt way too stifling. But at least it was warm. Warm was the order of the day.

Peering around, she searched for someone she knew. Spotting Maddy in the bleachers, Kaimi immediately made a beeline for the girl, noting that her Secret Santa was also sitting nearby. She had been leaving little treats of cookies and fudge and various other fattening-but-delicious goodies in his locker and other places he was sure to find them. But now didn't quite seem the time... not yet. Not everyone was here, after all.

"Maddy!" Kaimi plunked down beside the girl without invitation. "Man, I'm glad to spot somebody I know. It's a madhouse in here!" She grinned at her friend all the while eyeing Chris surreptitiously.

Joshua was careful to carry his package up right. He didn't want it to spill, that would be awful. Muchless killing the christmas present within. He looked over the table of treats. He spotted Maddy, but she was talking to another girl he didn't know. He felt as if he should wait for one of his friends to show up before talking to anyone. He was still shy, and felt much more comfortable with either Zemel or Lucien at his side.

He was dressed in his Christmas best, unfortunately for him. A little red and green suit, with an irritating tie that felt like it was choking him. Needless to say, the boy was terribly uncomfortable.

"I know! There's way more people than I thought there'd be." She smiled, quite relieved to have found someone she knew.

She was wearing a pale dress made of a cotton-like fabric (Maddy wasn't quite sure if it actually was cotton or just a cheap imitation) with red lace. It was quite nice, as a dress, but on Maddy it just made the pale pink of her hair and skin even more pronounced, making the first thing to jump to mind on sight be 'pig-pink'.

She lowered her voice significantly. "Is your Secret Santa one of those two boys?" She was looking at Chris and Antony.

The angelic girl wandered in, having been dropped off by a harried Eight. Elizabeth looked around the room, quite sad when she recognized no one, not even her Secret Santa; the box in her hands seemed heavier than ever. It had taken a really long time to come up with a gift for this girl Bishop who she'd never met. Coins, and shiny things- it had all led to the gaily-wrapped gift that she didn't even know if she'd get to give, and for once the little girl felt rather lonely. With a glance around, she spotted someone her age and plastered on a smile. "Hi," she said to the boy in the red and green suit. "My name's Elizabeth."

Carlisle found himself sneakily shadowing the little girl from next door. The last of five gifts dangled lightly from one hand in a bag with tissue paper. He didn't know who he was looking for, much less how that guy, Kaeden or something, had felt about all the other gifts. Was it too much? With an apprehensive look- he had been told, quite firmly, to keep an eye on the neighbor girl- he looked around for someone at least matching the description of the boy he'd seen in the picture. Neighbor-girl seemed to be doing all right for herself, anyway...

Both Darnell girls -- Irelia had fobbed off doing the Secret Santa party thing, and was currently embroiled deep within Beatrix's office as they drank hot chocolate and discussed Egyptology, thinking they'd gotten the better part of the deal -- were at the party. Jacoba Darnell, now teenaged and rangy, apparently had her own ideas about what 'formalwear' was: which was why she was wearing black shorts and a t-shirt that was made to look like a tuxedo top, with the sleeves ripped off. There was a man's tie knotted around her throat, and she had ambled over to lean against Antony, elbow up on his much taller shoulder. Obviously she had joined the greeter group as part of some teacher-as-parent quota.

Wisp, on the other hand, had repaired to the bleachers -- she was wearing a demure (for once) knee-length dress in raspberry, though she was also wearing hi-top sneakers that she had painstakingly painted herself with Christmassy berry trees. Same with her 'jewellry' -- she'd painted it on herself, gold filigree at her neck and wrists and (having gotten distracted) another berry tree on the inside of her right wrist. She had a present tucked under her arm, immediately considering the crowd, though when she caught sight of Maddy she raised one hand and waved to the younger girl in the bleachers.

Casca Naborn, on the other hand, was sitting in the uncool bleachers: white shirt, dress slacks, tragic, alone. Worst party ever.

"Your concept of formal astounds me, Jace," Antony drawled, quite comfortable with being leaned on as he looked over the crowd. "And who are you looking for in this party? I highly doubt it's me." Because he was sure he would have gotten a lot more dirty magazines and girls' panties if it had been.

Chris glanced up at them, then went back to finishing off his plate, wondering idly when the twins would come in.

Polly did not dress in her best clothes. Polly didn't HAVE best clothes. Instead she was wearing a T-shirt that looked as if it had been through hell and back, and baggy kahki pants that had to be folded at the hem because she was so short. She strode in as if she owned the place, Austin trailing behind her.

"Let's see," Austin said, glancing up from the compass he was playing with. "It's still not pointing north."

"How do you know which way is north without a compass inside, anyway?" Polly asked logically. "I woulda tossed it."

"You did, remember?" Austin said. "Oh, there's the frag--somethin' girl now!"

"That little creep Polly who just walked in," said Antony's friend meditatively, "lamb to the slaughter, pumpkin. God, I guess I better go fling her present in her face and hope the police don't catch me for it later. You know you're gonna provide me with an alibi."

She swatted Antony on the butt, and then slugged Chris on the shoulder just for being there: and then Jace swaggered off after Polly, picking up a cardboard box wrapped in newspaper, legs clanking on the gym floor.

Ophelia was feeling horribly out of place in formal wear. She was in a knee-length blue frock that, in her opinion, made her look like a Disney character in a very bad way, and squeaky-shiny black shoes that pinched her feet. If this was what holidays entailed, she wanted out, and back into her artist smocks and jeans.

Instead she found herself wandering about, holding a package addressed to a certain "Grayson", who she could neither begin to hope to identify nor hazard to guess the whereabouts of. Feeling rather alone, she made her way towards the "unpopular" bleachers, because, really, Ophelia was not that much of a social butterfly, despite popular belief.

Someone had already beat her to the bleachers, though. She recognized him from her math class and some other places around school.

"Hi, Casca," she said, a bit glum for all the festivities around them.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 8:06 pm

A little startled at the company -- Ophelia Prosper was not someone he expected to sit down beside him -- Casca figured that they were, after all, maths compatriots or something, and that she had had no other option than to sit beside him. His wings rustled as he sat back, hair loose, running his claws through it irritably every so often as the curls fell in his face.

"Hola, Ophelia," he said, and the gargoyle seemed to be equally glum. His recipient -- who was a dainty little blonde girl -- was nowhere in sight, as far as he could tell. "Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, joyeux Noel, and all that." He seemed to try to shore himself up with his usual (attempt at) charm: "I like your dress, ma petit. Very, uh. Cinderella."

Joshua smiled at Elizabeth. "Hi, I'm Joshua. You can call me Josh though." He said, "You have a pretty name Elizabeth." He paused, seeing the box in her arms. "My secret santa's not here yet either." He said, glancing around again. "Want to sit down and wait for them?"

He didn't think playing games was the best idea when he was wearing such fancy clothes. He had met Carlisle and Maddy, but he didn't see anyone else he knew yet.

Casca was always speaking french, and Ophelia wondered whether this was something he did naturally, or an acquired talent. She sat down on the bench beside him, smoothing her dress across her lap, and surveyed the party. Hm. Nothing to see here.

"Pre-fairy godmother," she grumbled, picking at the lacy hemline around her thighs. It was another hand-me-down from the cousins she had never met, and they were both girly and boring, to hear her father tell it. The clothing they sent her seemed to support the statement well enough.

"Do you know who Grayson is?"

The gargoyle boy's eyes half-closed as though in thought. "Grayson," he said. "Grayson. Uh. -- Isn't he that penguin boy?" It sounded a little vague. "Dark-skinned, flipper hands -- dark eyes? I admit to not being entirely sure, it's a sin."

Still no sign of his own santa recipient, and he was now certain that Ophelia wasn't his. Probably he had gotten one of the Neverland kids as his Secret Santa and would have to receive a handful of mud and worms.
