Aurore coughed slightly at her podium, getting used to the hot air. Looking across from her, she saw that Sienna had already let Frey out, and he was contently floating on the hot air. Hmmm....she'd have to find a strategy around that. She had a little more time, since Heila's foot pads were hardy, given to her by her wild bretheren who sometimes lived in hot climates like this. She'd have more time in one place than usual, and her fire attacks would be stronger.
Well, she'd take that. Dark wouldn't work well on Frey's Normal type status, but there were ways around that. She'd have to find a way to exploit Heila's beauty in the attacks though. Ah, always the coordinator. But strong attacks could be beautiful too. You just had to flourish them a little. Waving excitedly to Sienna, she giggled.
"Thanks for helping me train some, Sienna! Frey's feathers look so shiny! Did you just groom him, or has he been preening himself?" she giggled, noticing his wonderful feathers today. Ah, how did he keep himself so well-groomed, espeically when feathers got dull and slightly ragged after being up at such high altitudes when flying. So bright too. His colors were perfectly vibrant, Papa would be envious of how close to the perfect standard he was for a Pidgeotto. She could only imagine how gorgeous he'd be as a Pidgeot. Taking the borrowed pokeball off her belt, she threw it onto the field though.
"Time to shine, Heila! Come out and do your best, beutiful!" she chirpped, releasing the energetic Houndoom from it's ball.
Heila happily jumped out of her pokeball, perfectly fine with the heat. She was part fire-type, so that was something thankful. A bit stuffy in here though. Turning to her trainer, she cocked her head, not seeing HER trainer, but seeing someone her trainer knew. Why was Aurore here? Oh well, she jumped around and wiggled her backside happily anyways. She liked to play, and battling was playing. Besides, Aurore always gave her praise.
'Ow! Okay, even MY feet can't stay in one place forever......oh well! We'll just keep running and pouncing then!' she thought happily, howling and yipping a greeting to Aurore and then looking at her airborne opponent. Hmmmmm......roasted Chicken.......sounded tasty. She wheeze/laughed as much as a Houndoom could, and took pleasure from the joke. She was sure the Pidgeotto wouldn't see in the humor in it....but oh well. 'Tastes like chicken' humor. The best kind.

Aurore bit her lip, knowing she had to start. She wasn't used to battling, really. It was one of those things you only did to get a pretty Pokemon to their next stage, and build a better, more trusting relationship with them. But then again, she did that through coordinating too. But her battling had to get better, and pretty at the same time. To do this, she needed to be crafty. What did a Houndoom know that would make it totally irresistable to a judge in a battle. Well, obviously if it was a Beauty based tournament, Heila wouldn't have much of a problem, almost all fire attacks were in that category, and people went wild over them. Should she use Will-o'-wisp? No, too obvious, and way over done.
Looking down at the expetant Heila whom was just jumping idly from rock to rock, just to see if she could, she smiled. She had it. Heila was already so gorgeous, and she had such a cute personality, why not go for it? It worked with the right Pokemon, if you planned it well. Frey wouldn't be able to stop it either, no matter if he was on the ground or in the air. Well, that is assuming it worked. It was a bit of a strange move, much like Metronome in that you never knew if it would work or if it came out a dud until you tried. Oh well, gambles are always well-received in the pagents, so might as well take one.
"Heila! Shake that cute little tail of yours, and seduce Frey with Attract!" she giggled, pointing up at the Pidgeotto with one hand, and holding the other to her chin in a cute pose. Ah well, occupational hazard to always look cute in poses. She just hoped it worked.
Heila was jumping, minding her own buisness, and then turned to look at Aurore as the girl happily called out her orders. Ooooooooooooh, she got permission to flirt! Coolness! Frey wasn't REALLY her type of guy, but hey, beggers can't be choosers, besides. This was war, and she'd heard Aurore say that 'Love is a battlefield' once....that was kinda the same.....wasn't it? Oh well, didn't matter.
Growling cutely, Heila winked and wiggled her backside, jumping up as high as she could to call Frey down.
"Frey, Frey! Come down and play with meeeeee~ღ You look so handsome today, can't I get a better look, hotness?" she all but cat-called, as the assault of the pink hearts and rosy background that always came with Attract surrounded her. Well, that was what was supposed to happen anyways. Personally, Heila thought it was a little wierd, but she went with it anyways. Besides....she liked to chase the little imaginary hearts sometimes. In fact, she lost concentration and started playing with them like usual, which only added to the cuteness, as her coat and horns oddly shinned a little more and her eyes sparkled a little in Frey's general direction. "You don't wanna let a pretty little thing like me down, do you Frey, sweetie?" she all but purred, but it came out more of a happy growl since she wasn't a feline. Here's hoping it worked, since it seemed to make Aurore happy and drooling over Heila's cuteness up at her podium, and that's what mattered right? Heila vaugely wondered if she'd get homemade treats from Aurore for being pretty in this fight. She hoped so. They were yummy.

Aurore sighed and shrugged, ah well, what could ya do? Either way, both of them would've gotten points in a coordinating battle because both moves were splendidly pretty and well matched. There were still sparkles from both Frey and Heila on the field even, even if they were fading, it was a nice effet. Note to self, Attract and Refresh are an amazing combo move. Check. She'd have to write that down in her notebook for future refrence.
Clutching onto the podium, she didn't want to do it, but she needed a big hit on Frey to get this battle really going. Besides, it was really one of Heila's major advantages over the fair-feathered Frey. (Lol @ alliteration xD) Looking down at the prancing Heila, she pointed to the wall and a few pillars to the side of the stadium.
"Frey, I'm really sorry to do this! Heila! Run as fast as you can from pillar to pillar and ricochet off the wall to get to Frey.......use Thunder Fang!" she ordered, clenching her eyes shut as she did it. It was a stunning attack, very good for Cool contests, but it was powerful too. Coupled with Frey being a flying type....she really hated to do that to him. But, it was one of those unexpected moves that Houndoom had at its disposal, so.....had to use it. Sometimes you couldn't always be pretty in a contest, or in a battle, this was one of those times. Sometimes....you just had to win.
Heila was confused as to why Aurore was so upset about this move, since the Houndoom thought it was kinda cool that she could use an electric attack sometimes. Giving a soft 'wuff' she started sprinting as fast as her legs could carry her, leaping from one pillar to the next highest one, and jumping off a ledge on the wall like she'd been instructed. Her mouth was sparking and she growled as she aimed to clamp onto one of Frey's wings.
She didn't really want to hurt him, and she wouldn't bite hard enough to damage his wing bones, but she wanted to win too. You got more praise that way, and it was just fun to know that you'd outsmarted somebody. She'd have to try and console Aurore later though, since she was sure her trainer wouldn't want to see her friend hurting or feeling guilty. Aurore was way too nice to battle, she decided as she was in mid-air, and bracing herself for the bite and the landing she'd have to make afterwards. The girl just had no desire to hurt a pokemon, especially if it was a pretty one.

Aurore pouted, well hmph. Two could play the 'effects' game. Houndoom was fully capable of it. Time to resort to firepower. Quite literally. It was nice to see that it had hit though, and Heila had landed safetly, even if the feathers were a little of a problem. It was cute how the Houndoom just batted them away from her though and snorted as if highly annoyed by the feather's presence. She even sneezed as one landed on her nose.
"Heila! Fireblast now!" she commanded confidently, knowing that the heat of the room would get even higher. If she couldn't status effect him because of Refresh, there was no point in using Will o' Wisp and using up one of her four allowed attacks. Attract was useless now too, no matter how cute it was. So that left two more, besides Thunder Fang. One,now that she'd used Fireblast.
But there was only so much heat a non-fire type could take, and she knew that Pidgeotto couldn't take the heat too much. It was a flyer, used to the cool air high in the sky, not the hot stuff that was blasting at it and helping it with drafts. And it was about to get hotter, maybe even hot enough to burn his feathertips.
Heila jumped around a few times in the middle platform, crouching low to the ground as she started to glow redhot, and throwing her head back in a howl as the heat got immense and exploded from her in a five-point pattern. It was a dazzling sight, full of light and flame, which agitated the field's lava a little. Thankfully, this field made her fire attacks much more powerful, so the bad effects on her from Featherdance weren't as bad.
As she cooled down as the heatwave of flame and power coursed all over the stadium to hit Frey, her horns, cuffs, and back plates were still glowing a soft red from the heat.

With the addition of the heat brought by the Fireblast it was indeed hot enough to burn the very tips of the feathers on the edges of his wings, but not enough to do much damage and the pidgeotto regarded it as a bruise. Frey swiftly dived through the very middle of the Fireblast before it's five sides could close in on him, tucking his wings in as close as they could go. It was a well-practiced maneuver Sienna and Frey had gone through, and pretty effective in a battle when it was carried out successfully. It was, of course, followed-up by an attack.
As if it wasn't hot enough before, that Fireblast heated things up quite a bit. Sienna couldn't blame them for taking advantage of the boost the field gave to fire attacks, but now the heat was just plain uncomfotable. "Air Cutter!" the sweating trainer commanded the counter-attack.
Sienna's command traveled through the sweltering air to her pidgeotto's ears. With one swift motion, the sound of a large woosh bounced off the hot air, and the flying pokemon sent a sharp wave of air at Helia. The wave cut through the heat, creating an odd ripple effect through the air and any charred remains of the earlier Feather Dance as it soared towards the houndoom.

Heila whimpered slightly as the heated Air Cutter came at her and hit, throwing her back a little and making her roll. It had hurt, but not too much, and besides, the heat hadn't been the problem really. Though by looking at Aurore and Sienna it was getting a little stuffy for the humans. She looked up at Frey and growled, finally becoming determined to win, even though she liked having fun.
Aurore coughed as some charred remains of feathers blew her way, wiping her hand in the air in front of her to make them go away. She would never make fun of another person for using that move again. Seriously. But what should she use next? It was her last move and option she could use. Should she use Howl and fix the attack problem? No, Frey'd only use Feather Dance again. She couldn't use Overheat, that would make Heila's attack even worse. Welp. If she couldn't raise her attack, she'd lower Frey's defense. Or attempt to anyways. It didn't always work, but it did work at times.
"Shadow Ball!" she ordered, clutching her hands to herself, and clenching her eyes tight. She was using it to lower defense, yes, but she hoped it would hit all the same.
Heila yipped an affirmative, and a dark ball of energy grew in front of her. Leaping up and smacking the ball with her tail, she aimed it carefully at Frey, willing it to hit to make things more even. She knew where Aurore was going. If he attacked her attack points, she'd attack his defense points AND his health.
8oo/1ooo (-50)
((Ummm.....Foxie said I could just not roll, but since it's an attack that can lower defense too.....I'm going to roll just in case, and if it hits, it's a hit to your defense too. Is that alright, or am I doing something wrong? T^T))

Aurore shook her head softly. Oh, this wasn't going well. Now, even if they got a hit in, not only would it be weaker, but so would Heila. Oh well. Nothing much she could do now, and she only had three choices really. Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, and Thunder Fang. Two of which were powered up, and the third which could bring down Frey's defense. But he could always use Recover. Oh well....what could you do? At least all their moves were out on the table now. That made things a little easier. Ah well, might as well attack again and hope she got a hit.
"Heila! Shake it off, and use Flamethrower again!" she ordered, "Aim the flamethrower at the torrents of air, Heila! We'll get a better effect that way!"
This was her only plan now. Use the elements around her. If she aimed the flamethrower into the air currents, then it would wrap around the air currents and go up, much like a fire spin without using fire spin. It could potentially trap Frey too, and the heat would once again go up. There was only so long even Frey could stay in the air with the air getting so thick and hot.
Heila woofed and blew her Flamethrower straight into the quivering torrent of heat underneath Frey, and the flames licked up the sides, wrapping it's way around the hot air. Air fuled fire, so Heila figured that Aurore was coming up with more creative plans now. Good, at least she came up with new ideas, because Heila was feeling the hurt here in her attack and defense.

Heila wimpered as the Air Cutter was used again. It had really hurt this time! Growling, she rolled her shoulders back, and looked to Aurore for orders. She really wanted to win, no matter how much was stacked against her now.
"Flamethrower, Again!" Aurore ordered sternly, "Aim it low where Frey is, Heila, you know what to do!"
Best option now was to keep Heila hidden. In all that new fire and smoke if she set the field close to Frey on fire, she could hide the Houndoom in it.
Heila let loose another Flamethrower, this time at the air partially below Frey, and partially on him. He was on another current, something she could definately use. Immediately after the Flamethrower started hurtling towards Frey, she ran just beneath it as it started burning the air and dust of the field, hiding Heila in the smoke. Ah, some days, it was good to be black. 6oo/1ooo (Gah.....this is short.....D=)
