The boys were grown up. It was hardly 'good riddance', but Makani was somewhat happy to be on his own again. It was nice! He still met them occasionally, and Loki's friend Ukuu, and he knew they were doing just fine. And they no longer needed him, so he could rest at ease.
He didn't see much of his daughters, but that was almost expected. He knew where Skuld would be, at least, and, not usually having much better to do, if not distracted by some lady he could steal some attention from, he'd sometimes stop by to visit. Somewhat rarely, perhaps. Her lands weren't exactly stranger-friendly, and he wondered for how much longer the pride would stand her relatives nosing about every now and then.
But, today was none of those run-into-your-kids days, and he was sprawled out on a rock, enjoying the sun. Not that it was a rare occurrence, Africa was pretty damn hot, he got sun all the time. But today he was just in the mood! In a very good mood, to be more specific. Not that he was often in a bad one. Yawning, he raised his head. The only thing today was missing was some nice company.

On the other hand, Freya had tracked down their dear little middle child, only to find the girl had run off with one attractive little leopard. Alas, Verdandi had picked her man well.
As after months and months of harassment about her own status as 'should be settling down', Freya had assumed no less of Verdandi to pick and stick with a boy of her own choosing. Ahhh, but it meant that she was free of that dear little child's harassment.
Darling harassment, yes...
...
But with no tag-a-longs, the dark colored cheetah had been free to roam and make herself some friends again. Like the darling little dark boy who had mistakenly formed the opinion that Freya was a clueless little dame.
That had been a fun little meeting.
Alas, after that it had been a nice little run back into the savannah to be on her own, away from the failing flirtations of a boy who was far too young. But it seemed she wouldn't be on her own for long, as she could see a very familiar form stretched across a rock in the not-so-far distance.
Mmm, had he seen her? She could hardly tell, but that didn't prevent her from practically waltzing right up to settle down next to Makani with a sort of casualness she wouldn't have bid anybody else. Then again, he was her flirty and just-as-devoted (ah ha ha) not-very-but-in-a-way mate.
"Mmmm, I like what I see."
Well duh.

He raised his brows as his eyes caught onto sometime. Something that was pretty and red, and something he knew all too well. He smirked. Well, this was as good a company as he'd ever get!
"As do I, " He purred, shifting as she came beside him, allowing her a bit more space on the rock that he was currently sprawled across. "But, then again, the only way I couldn't like what I see is if I were blind. " Because blind cheetah don't see in general.
"How have you been doing? " He asked casually, flicking his tail. He supposed he might get a bit of filling in before they went to their usually silly flirting, after all, last he'd seen her, she'd been with his kids.

Mmm, then they were in mutual understanding of their good company. That was definitely a positive in many a ways.
"Unfortunately for us, too many are indeed blind." AKA she hadn't gotten all the fun flirting in that she wanted. Again, see Verdandi for the reason why. But that of course didn't stop her from sidling up right next to her favorite flirt-victim.
Now for the 'filling in' of course.
"Well, Verdandi ran off with a charming young man, I've hardly been doing much more than having whatever enjoyment I can find thwarted by her attempts to make us a 'proper family'...."
A good pause for any laughter that may have been needed on that subject...
"And I seem to have found myself an attractive man to chat with. And yourself?"

"Ran into me at a good time, then? " He smirked, but that faded a bit at the news on Verdandi. For a small moment, his "daddy-instinct" made him dislike the idea of one of his daughters with a guy, something he'd never expected to feel. But that notion was dumped quickly, and he chuckled. So, his daughter had a guy and she wanted a proper family. Somehow, he doubted that would happen.
Not that there was anything wrong with them from the start!
"Mmm, Loki and Xippi are off on their own, more or less. Loki has a travel-buddy. I run into them sometimes. " Makani shrugged.
"I think I can remedy your enjoyment problem, by the way. "

Their 'proper family' probably stopped at 'we're not completely and singularly devoted to only one another', as there were no 'Oops, babies I'm skipping out kthnx' things that had happened since the lot had been born.
Something that Freya herself was... well, she could have handled the five of them, yes, but then she wouldn't have had such a pretty male to flirt it up with!
"Well, at least our children are in good company, mm?"
Always good. If they were distracted by family elsewhere, they wouldn't have to be 'proper' parents and just be silly cheetahs again. Since that's what they'd been before. Silly cheetah friends with major benefits.
"Mmmmm, can you now?"

He nodded, though was slowly becoming somewhat bored with the topic of children. So, instead, he decided to concentrate on the funner bits of Freya's company.
"Of course. " He leaned towards her, playfully nipping at the nearest ear. "So, tell me, what do you want to do? We could go for a walk, and.. talk. " He purred, raising his eyebrows and stretching out slightly, ever-so-slightly brushing against her side.

Oh yes, a nice little change of conversation was always pleasant. Kids were a formality. They'd chat about them, and then move on to a funner topic.
Which definitely seemed to be in store, as Freya pawed at Makani's face in answer to his ear-nipping, a sly smile gracing her maw. Oooooh, 'talking' was always lovely. Give or take the 'talking' part.
"Mmmm, talk about what?" Freya asked, rolling over onto her back and tucking her front legs against her chest.

"Oh, you know.. weather, and the likes. " Makani smiled, raising a paw to defend from the assault on his face, as half-hearted as said defense was.
"Or how the hunting's going.. " He purred as she rolled over,leaning towards her and resting his chin on one of her front paws, quite happily using her as a pillow. "We could also... not talk, and do something instead. Like... go for a walk. " He flicked his tail.

"Mmmm, a walk might be nice. I do have a figure to keep." Freya mulled, purring and rolling over onto her stomach to stand, back arching up into the air as she rose and stretched her body out.
Mmmm!
"And perhaps along the way we'll find ourselves some nice little topic to chat about, no?" she added. Certainly a mundane activity, amongst everything else, but talking was definitely the way of the flirting felines.

Oh ho ho! He was making sexy faces at her while she 'wasn't looking' now was he? Well, she'd just bump her shoulder up against his, offering the male a rather calm smile. "Someone I need saving from? Oh, these young males who just seem convinced they have some sort of a chance with me!"
Oh ho ho, Freya had been getting some flirt-fun in with the rest of funtimes, had she? Well..
...
....
"It's absolutely dreadful! They don't even know how to play and have fun the proper way, Makani! What has happened to the younger generations! No good men at all."

"Ah, the young.. " He trailed off. Not that he really met any other boys besides his sons, and much less been hit on by them. Well... perhaps once or twice. But that was a story for another time. "I suppose their parents just neglect to teach them very well. " He sighed, such a tragedy!
"A shame, really. " He said mournfully, resting his head on her shoulders. "It's almost like we're a dying breed. "

Freya sighed and groomed the top of Makani's head when he rested it against her shoulders before puffing her chest up a bit -- almost boldly. "We really are a dying breed. It's so unfortunate too~ I can only wonder how the younger generation manages to have anything but.."
....
...... But meaningful monogamous relationships?
"trouble. If the boys don't know how to tease, how will the girls know how to take things lightly?"
ALAS, NOT EVEN VERDANDI KNEW THE ART. It was as though she'd failed her daughters! And possibly her sons.
Woe was she.

"Mhmm. " He sighed, though was now more distracted by the grooming than the chatter. That felt sonice... Oh, right, conversation. "Well, I suppose we could teach. Not as in hunting lessons, but more be... good role models. "An actual school of flirting sounded almost silly!
"Now, I've never seen Loki in action, but I suppose he does fine. I think his friend picked it up from him, too... " Hmm. "We could also pray. " He added, with a tint of humor. Makanididn't really believe in any entity to pray to, but it was an amusing idea. 'oh, mighty one, please help boys hit on girls.. '
