The sun was shining through the trees, and it was well into noon as a dark-coated foal scampered through the shrubbery. She deliberately ran at every rock that she spotted, making a giant leap each time and fluttering her wings madly.
It had been a while since Vienne had stumbled across her troll friend. By now she had begun to get the hang of flying, able to hover off the ground for a few seconds at a time. The filly spent every free moment practicing, and she couldn't wait to show Zul'Aolani. Now if only she could find him...
She soared over another large rock, stumbling a bit as she landed and stopping to regain her footing. Taking a deep breath, Vienne swished her tail to rid it of leaves that had caught on during her wild run. Just a quick break to rest her wings, she told herself.

As it happened, Zul'Aolani was playing amongst the same trees and had been chasing after a rabbit that he thought would have made a very fine companion. It had not thought so, and instead had turned tail and ran into the woods. As he was chasing what bit of scent he could catch, he called out to the rabbit as he searched. He hadn't done so for severel seconds, and he was hoping that if he yelled loud enough it would show the bunny how serious he was about them being friends.
"Heeeere Rabbit, Rabbit!" He called out after puffing out his chest as much as he could. "I jus' wanna be your friend!"
Much to his chagrin, it didn't work and he kicked a rock in frustration. "Fine," he called out again. "If you won't come play with me I'll just find a bird to play with! At least maybe then I can learn to fly!"

Just what was that commotion? She'd been under the impression that there was no one nearby... that was why she picked the spot to practice, after all. The filly frowned in confusion and cautiously picked her way through the bushes, her curiosity getting the better of her once again.
She poked her dark head through the leaves, ears perking in excitement at the sight of a familiar blue-coated foal. "Zul'!" she shouted, wiggling and yelping as a twig snagged onto a wing. Vienne gave a sharp tug and stumbled out into the opening, tripping over her own little hooves and unceremoniously landing in a heap next to her young friend.
"I was just thinking about you," she continued unfazed, looking up at him with a sheepish grin.

"What?"
Zul' looked up and grinned from ear to ear as Vienne came bouncing out of the bushes. It looked like she'd hurt herself, which concerned Zul' but it looked as though she hadn't even felt it. Running up to her and prancing in excitement about her, he laughed and nudged her wing with his nose. "Holy Spirits, Vienne, are you okay?"
Dancing back to settle in front of the filly, he let his eyes rest on hers and gave her his cheekiest grin. "You were just thinkin' about me? Why? I missed you!" It was hard for him to keep his excitement in check, and he figured that without any adults around and her as happy to see him that he didn't need to. She'd be able to keep up, that's why they were friends.
