Spade had woken rather late into the evening and by the position of the moon in the sky she could only assume that she had been asleep for a very, very short while. Her brows knitted together as she frowned shaking her head. As time passed her time spent sleeping was growing shorter and shorter. It was becoming more and more apparent and she feared that Jachai would notice all too soon.
A sigh slipped from her maw as she pushed herself up into a sitting position as she titled her head back to study the sky. The stars always illuminated the sky in ways that she simply couldn’t fathom.
“Spades.”
The sound of his voice made her heart skip a beat as she slowly lowered her head, breath caught in her throat. Thoughts raced across her mind as her yellow eyed gaze met his own.
“What is it?”
She asked feigning innocence rather effectively but he wasn’t fooled. He held the suspicion that she rarely slept, and when she did it was for very short periods of time. Which couldn’t possibly be healthy.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
He asked his brows knitting together in concern as he stood moving to be only a few inches away from her. He lightly nudged her shoulder before licking her cheek.
“Tell you what?”
She asked still trying to play along to the fact she had no idea what he was talking about. Unfortunately for her it wasn’t working.
“I know that you don’t sleep very often and when you do it isn’t often.”
He stated a serious expression crossing his usual laidback features. He nuzzled her neck deeply heaving a sigh of his own.
“I didn’t want to worry you.”
She replied lowering her head to gaze at the grass beneath them. She never wanted him to find out but she knew there was a chance that he would notice sooner or later. She had hoped later. Much later.
“I’d worry about you anyway.”
He replied licking her cheek again.
“I love you after all silly.”
He chuckled the seriousness completely vanishing from his features.
“I know. I love you too.”
She replied licking him upon the cheek this time.
“Now sleep, I’ll be fine. I promise.”
“Alright…but only because you insist.”
She let out a light chuckle as she shook her head nudging him softly.
“I do. Now sleep.”
Reluctantly he nodded settling down close to her and closing his eyes.
