Okay, while we were rehearsing for the Christmas Play, me and my friend started talking to each other about Harry Potter. Then we discovered a huge flaw in planning for the seventh movie.

SPOILER ALERT
Do not continue reading unless you have read the seventh book or someone rudely ruined it for you.

Alright, back to what I was saying.

Now, for those who have read the seventh book, we all remember the big detail of Snitches and their 'Flesh Memories', right? Okay, but in the first movie, when Oliver is teaching Harry about Quidditch, he holds the Snitch in his hand before Harry swallows it.

Also, in the book, the same flaw is made.

Naturally, we went and told everyone who read the seventh book, to prove we were right.

Then, our math teacher ruined our dreams.

He says:
"Well, there are two Snitches, one for training, and one for the games."

But then I looked in the books, and Oliver said "we won't use the snitch, we might lose it." Therefore implying they only had one.

There is more than one snitch. The one Oliver was holding was indeed their practice one. He just didn't want to lose it because they probably only have one practice snitch. Another theory is that they make a new snitch for every game. That could explain why Harry's snitch was brand new on the first game that he played. And Oliver's snitch was just a practice snitch.

Kitty Chan, very good question! I believe Alli-o-pop has the right of it. 5 points to you for a logical, practical and probably right explanation. I too believe Oliver is using a practice Snitch, or one that gets wiped clean before a match. And because Harry is an unknown, and the snitch IS hard to see as well as catch, Oliver uses muggle balls to test and practice with Harry. Remember in the movie Oliver is staring everywhere except where the Snitch is? And our natural Seeker Harry sees and hears the Snitch.

Since a rabid Quidditch fan would know details (and Harry has been studying Quidditch Thru the Ages and other Quidditch books for years) he knows about the flesh memory. A new Snitch with a blank flesh memory would HAVE to be prepared for each official game. And I'd venture that part of the referee's job would be to exam the balls to be sure they hadn't been tampered with. Quirrell had to hex the Bludger while it was in play.

If they examed every ball before a game how was Dobby able to tamper with the Beaters? With out getting caught?

Good question! Anyone? My guess it would be that it is because Elf magic is different from Wizarding Magic - canon says so several places- that Dobby could get away with charming a Beater(s) before a match. Remember that Elves can apparate where wizards can't and have all sorts of magic.

Do you mean Bludgers? Not Beaters. (Beaters are the players who hit Bludgers with clubs.)
Yes I think that LHH is right. House Elves can sometimes use magic when even wizards can't. Especially a crazy little house elf like Dobby.

Ah, your theory makes me upset and un-confused. But it would have to be a new snitch because I don't think Harry was the last person to catch that snitch if it was just wiped clean. Ginny was, but since they use they use the same quaffle and bludgers, I thought that they would use the same Snitch too.

=D But then that proves that they use new balls every time, because it's never stated that the bludger had dobbies spell removed. =D In fact they had an incredably hard time getting the berserk Bludger back in it's case.

And I'm sorry for saying Beater yall. My mind was a bit shot.
