Its here
ignore the double male betta plan right now...liking my delta too much to try >_<
and before you go yelling at me it is a 55 gallon WELL planted tank, researched them in the wild, and then there is this : O i think that tank is entirely too small to even try that with but its proof it can be done
and my saltwater blog NaClH2O

: O
ok so i did try the two males and i am VERY surprised i was on stand by with a net and everything XD they did not even see each other for HOURS at first (yay for plants especially floating) then when they saw each other they just flared and then the one swam away the other didnt chase
and thats just how its been sometimes they flare sometimes they dont...they will swim in opposite directions and pay no mind to each other sometimes not a single actual n** or anything
i guess this would be the same application as marine angels...if you have enough space

Very interesting experiment, though I'm quite confused now, who's out? The Delta or the halfmoon? What went wrong? Does this mean you gave up on the experiment?

i took out the delta betta
he was a bit too aggressive for the half moon the half moon is so docile the pearl gourami scare him probably for the fact they are just bigger because they dont pay any mind to anything else i think a slightly more even temperament would work better
but in the size tank i have, two male betta is totally doable...just have to pick a very compatible pair i have a camera now so i will take pics of the tank :3 i think the set up of the tank also has to do with how much sucess you may have

Ahn ok, Well hope his newest tankmate is a better match for him. How is he dealing with the females then? In my experience those can be quite vicious too.

really?
i have never had a female cause any problems even when i had em in a 10 gallon (6 females 1 male) and i had a 2 gallon with 2 white females and one red male (my first serious tank EVER XD )
they would only kinda fluff up at each other to get the pecking order down and once one was the queen the others fell in line and when i added a new one she had to find her place in the order and then it was fine.
they dont pay much attention to the male and he only ever pays attention to the biggest female which usually is the head female. im surprised you had vicious ones @_@ mine are always so calm and i buy them from different places (petco, petsmart, walmart, diane's, that fish place, ect)

Haha, I had one that I'll never forget, Cleopatra, she will always remain one of my favorite fish. I had her in a 10 gallon and her victems were: 2 male bettas (Ceasar and Marcus) countless male guppies 2 angelfish 1 fidlercrab, I'm not sure how she managed that though. and a handfull of ghostshrimp.
Eventually I figured out she would tolerate female guppies, other live breeders, tetras and danios. Anything fancy, slow or assertive was a gonner. Adding a large firetail shark helped a lot since she could focus her agression on it.

wow
i have never heard of anything like that @_@ maybe its because she was the only female betta? I have actually never kept only one like that.
i always have at least 3 or 4 but im an addict so i usually have lots more XD

Oh what a pretty littel thing! She looks tiny ^^ Where do you buy your fish anyway?
Yeah, maybe it was because she was alone. The thing is, when I got her, together with the male she was pretty docile. The breeder we got them from said since they were from the same nest they could be kept together. At some point the male started beating her up though and I quarentined her because she had some pretty bad rips in her fins. Once she was compleately healed I placed he back in the tank. A few days later = dead male. Since then she was snippy at the other fish. It got even worse after she jumped out of the tank and spend the night on the floor. Her left side was all dried up and I thought she was dead, but when I put her in the water in faint hope she started swimming again, though very wobly. She made a compleate recovery, though her left side stayed blackish and her left eye white. And she was snippier then ever. I think she just had some sort of trauma from all the things happening to her. It was my first real tank and I admit I made a lot of mistakes, but she did mannage to survive me for 5ish years sweatdrop

she is little maybe one inch...apparently the most difficult gourami to care for @_@ but she is lookin real good...holdin her own against all the betta that come and look at her and the big pearl gourami that sort of cruise by.
i buy my fish from all kinds of places as long as they look good :3 list of places (around here...i live in philadelphia, pennsylvania)
that pet/fish place (yes thats what its called) petco and petsmart (usually betta) dianne's az pets and ponds
and i may have went into other places but cant remember. if it sells fish, we'll go in razz
thats a good bit of time for a betta ^_^ mine all lasted that long and they had no trauma X_x (well except when my mom killed the last bit i gave her) if you liked betta you should try some more again...i really love all mine...i've tried plenty of other fish and nothing could fill the space betta occupied

You keep her alone? I thought chocolate gouramis were one of the few gouramis that actually like to be around their own species and do best if kept in a little school? Glad to hear she's doing good though. I once saw a few of them for sale here and I nearly bought them even though I don't have a tank yet.
Wow, you have a lot of stores to chose from. Back home we only had one. There used to be more, but over the years they all went bankrupt or something. In the city I live in now I've managed to track down two stores.
I'm going to take a betta once I get a tank set up. I promised my mom I'd wait with setting up a tank because I might be moving to a different room soon and I don't know anyone who I can ask to take care of my fish when I go on vacation. I can't quite leave a tropical fish alone for a whole month or so. The reason I only kept bettas once was that after cleo died we moved on to angel fish, and after them the tank was set up for live breeders and then goldfish. Mostly because those are my dad's favorite fish. He's not too fond of gouramis or ciclids and since I knew I'd be moving out soon I decided to set up the tank with his favorite species, he'll take better care of them then ^^
